CALLER: (garbled cell throughout) Hi, Rush. How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m fine. How are you, Toby?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m good. I was telling Snerdley, I understand and I agree with 110% of everything you\u2019re saying about him. But I think we\u2019re giving him far too much of our time, talking about him as much as you do. Since a week ago when he brought up this crap with Romney, that\u2019s all we hear about on all the talk shows and everything else. We need to get back to the numbers on (garbled). You know, if everything he\u2019s done has created something then he\u2019s responsible for the unemployment.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: Turn the numbers on him again.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait. So you think I am talking too much about Romney?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. You\u2019re talking too much about what Obama wants you to talk about.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m talking too much about what Obama wants me to talk about?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Wants you to talk about.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And what does Obama want us to talk about?<\/p>\n

CALLER: The fact (sic) that Romney is a felon.<\/a><\/p>\n

RUSH: Uhhhh, okay. So most…? The last two days, I have been incredulous at what Obama is saying.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. I agree.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve been playing the sound bite over and over with Obama basically saying, “You start a business? You didn\u2019t do that on your own.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: I agree with it, Rush. I\u2019m not saying that. It infuriates me every time I hear it. My point is, I think we\u2019re giving Obama too much airtime. He gets enough of that from the media. I think we need to get back to talking about what he\u2019s created: The unemployment numbers, people out of work, all of the crap that he\u2019s created. Not the fact that, you know, he helped us all start our businesses.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Well, just so you know, I\u2019m also getting e-mails and notes from people who tell me I\u2019m spending too much time talking about Romney.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: You think I\u2019m spending too much time talking about Obama and I got somebody else telling me I\u2019m spending too much time talking about Romney. So basically you think that Obama has rope-a-doped me?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. No. I think he\u2019s trying to rope-a-dope everybody. My point is… I guess maybe it\u2019s my opinion. I\u2019ve just heard enough crap about what he hasn\u2019t done and all the other stuff, and I\u2019d like to get back to the point of maybe helping to build the conservative message again instead of… You know?<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, it was just a week and a half ago that I raised the very important question: “Is Romney, simply reciting what everybody knows about the economy, gonna be enough?” You want me to sit here every day and say, “Folks, you know what the unemployment rate is? Look at job creation! Look at the deficit! Look at it national debt! Look at how this guy has destroyed the economy!” I\u2019m blue in the face talking about it. So I raise the specter: “Maybe it isn\u2019t, folks, because so many people don\u2019t care anymore about a failing economy because they\u2019re not harmed by it?<\/p>\n

“Maybe just saying, ‘It\u2019s the economy, stupid,\u2019 or just pointing out how rotten it is, isn\u2019t enough. Maybe Romney\u2019s campaign has to be about more than that.” And we spent two days talking about that. My point is we have 15 hours a week here, and I don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything that gets by us. There isn\u2019t anything we don\u2019t mention, unless I judge it to be irrelevant and unimportant. And like I\u2019ve always said: “If I don\u2019t talk about it, it\u2019s not worth you knowing about it.”<\/p>\n

You need to trust me on this stuff.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know. I need to talk about all of the stuff in context, in totality, as it happens. If anything, I have been concerned that I have maybe been overdoing it on Obama\u2019s statement, “If you got a business, you didn\u2019t build that. Somebody else made that!” I thought I was gonna get e-mailed, “Come on, Rush! He knows you\u2019re gonna focus on that and stop talking about the economy. He\u2019s trying to distract you and you\u2019re falling for it!” I thought I would hear that.<\/p>\n

At any rate, I think the totality of what\u2019s happening here has to be discussed so all of this stuff can be kept in context.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Just in case you don\u2019t know it, the unemployment rate is 8.2%. The national debt is rising. Obama continues to spend money like it\u2019s never been spent before and we\u2019re borrowing it like it\u2019s never been borrowed before. This economy really sucks. I don\u2019t know if you know that or not, but this economy\u2019s in bad shape and there\u2019s a guy that\u2019s in charge of it. His name is Barack Obama. You may have heard of him. He\u2019s the president of the United States.<\/p>\n

Mitt who?<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not about Romney. It\u2019s about Obama!<\/p>\n

Obama sucks!<\/p>\n
