RUSH: We have a 12-year-old young man from Petal, Mississippi, on the phone named Trent. And, Trent, welcome to the program. Glad that you called. How are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m doing good. How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019m cool. I\u2019m doing well today. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I have a question.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you\u2019ve called the right place.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Ever since Obama\u2019s been elected, I used to buy chip bags at the store and they used to be all the way full, but now they\u2019re only half full. Why is that?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Really? What kind of chips are we talking about here?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Potato chips.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

RUSH: What brand?<\/p>\n

CALLER: The Lay\u2019s kind.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The Lay\u2019s kind. So you\u2019re buying Lay\u2019s potato chips, and the bag is only half full now?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, that is correct.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Since Obama was elected?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you know, I\u2019m glad you told me. I eat potato chips, but I never see the bag. When I get \u2019em, they\u2019re already out of the bag.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But this doesn\u2019t surprise me. Have you mentioned this to your parents?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I have.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do they think?<\/p>\n

CALLER: They really don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They really don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So I decided to call you and ask.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I think you\u2019re on to something. You\u2019re in Mississippi, and I don\u2019t think the mayor of New York has anything to do with what happens in Mississippi yet, but this is a toughie. Have you made this assessment on every bag of potato chips that you bought?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Most of them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Most of them.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, honestly, Trent, if what you say is true, it could be a sneaky way for them to avoid having to increase the published price. I don\u2019t know. See, the problem is, I don\u2019t know what the price for your bag of Lay\u2019s potato chips is today versus last year or —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think they\u2019ve gone up about two dollars.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, then my theory is wrong. The price has gone up two dollars, and the amount of potato chips in there has been cut in half?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It sounds to me like the Lay\u2019s people, the potato chip people are hoarding product, anticipating, perhaps, economic drought, potato famine, maybe the Obama administration banning potato chips somewhere. Michelle would be the one to do that and they\u2019re just trying to save the product so they have supply. It could be that it\u2019s really not happening. It could just be that the contents of the bags are being shipped a longer distance to your store. In the process, they\u2019re settling more in the bag, making it look like the bag is only half full when it really isn\u2019t. Now, do you have a theory? Have you evolved a theory of your own to explain this?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, not really.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But you think it\u2019s got something to do with Obama?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I do, because he\u2019s raised the price of everything, and the quality and the quantity of stuff has gone down.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So I think it\u2019s because of Obama.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s hard to disagree with. Obama is not personally in charge of the price, but the things that have happened to the country economically have resulted in the cost of everything going up.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: For a host of reasons. Well, are you eating fewer potato chips now? Are your parents buying fewer bags.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. They\u2019re buying the same amount, but there just aren\u2019t as many in there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, if your parents don\u2019t have a problem, just buy more bags.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir. Thank you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: All right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Wait. Were you on The Haney Project?<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I was on The Haney Project.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Cool. I watched that show.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You did? Now, you know what, Mr. Snerdley, don\u2019t go away out there, Trent. Mr. Snerdley just brought me a bag of Lay\u2019s potato chips, and they\u2019re wavy hickory barbecue. What kind of potato chips do you eat?<\/p>\n

CALLER: The wavy original.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The wavy original. Well, I got wavy hickory barbecue. I\u2019m looking at the price here. Whoa! $4.29. This is a ten ounce bag. Probably your standard bag at your standard corner grocery store. And you know what? He\u2019s right. It\u2019s half full.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, you\u2019re right out there, Trent. It\u2019s half full. There\u2019s a lot of air in this bag, too. They charged a lot for that, but he\u2019s right. It\u2019s half full. This is something Obama was doing that we didn\u2019t know \u2019til you called. Wow. Well, I appreciate the heads up. Did you like The Haney Project?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I did. I liked it. He\u2019s a good teacher, or coach.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, that he is. He loves it, and he takes it very, very seriously. He\u2019s very committed to it. Do you play golf?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, I do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, if you ever — I don\u2019t know that you will — if you ever have a chance to get a lesson from Hank Haney, you should take it. He takes it as seriously as anybody who teaches anything, which is good. It\u2019s what you want. Anyway, we\u2019ll look into this potato chip controversy for you, Trent, because you\u2019re absolutely right, the bag\u2019s half full in there, and it\u2019s brand-new. And it could be, you know, you might-a spotted another area in life Obama\u2019s been messing around and we didn\u2019t even know. So heads up. Thanks much. Appreciate it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you, very much. I have just a quick comment on the fine young man that phoned that was saying he had less chips in his package. And I believe it\u2019s because it\u2019s like the Obama administration; it\u2019s full of hot air.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You may be on to something. He clearly is, \u2019cause our bag is half full — and we\u2019re not —<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — trying to start — please don\u2019t — I do not want people from Lay\u2019s calling here and saying, “What are you doing to us?” Nothing. We\u2019re not doing anything to you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, they make a great product.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We love it. We eat it. We\u2019ve got it here and so forth and so on. The young man had a question.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Indeed.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We tried to tie it to Obama somehow. There\u2019s no doubt a connection. We\u2019re just looking for it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: That\u2019s right. And like I told Mr. Snerdley, one thing about your breast-feeding stint with Mayor Bloomberg is I think Bloomberg is still on this kick of lowering childhood obesity —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah, yeah. That\u2019s how they\u2019re gonna use this. They\u2019re gonna claim that baby formula leads to obesity, and that\u2019s why you must breast-feed. There\u2019s no doubt that that\u2019s what it is. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
