RUSH: Gloria in Vero Beach, Florida, it\u2019s great to have you here on Open Line Friday. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi. Mr. Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, it is.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s such a pleasure to talk to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I really commend that last gentleman that you talked to. He just sounds so sincere, and really I respect him so much. But what I was gonna get to is, Obama\u2019s catering to all these college students and promising them anything they want to hear. But these brilliant students aren\u2019t really realizing that when they get out of college they\u2019re gonna have to pay back all the student loans and the private loans, but also the Obama health care taxes. These guys are gonna be stuck for that the rest of their lives, and they gotta pay the taxes before they pay the student loans.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, if I may interject here: I actually think that more college students than you are aware of are frosted over this. I think they\u2019re very much aware of how much in debt they are, and many of them are starting to question whether it was even worth it to go to college, because there aren\u2019t any jobs. So they go to college, they get educated (some of them in worthless majors, by the way), and then they come out with anywhere from $20,000 to $200,000 in student loan debt, which is now totally run by Obama and the federal government.<\/p>\n

With just a couple or three exceptions, the government runs the whole thing. We had a story yesterday. It was a poll<\/a>. I don\u2019t remember the group, but it indicated that the “Millennials, ages 18 to 29, are just fed up with the job circumstance that they face, the economy, and that they\u2019re going to vote in droves, in numbers 50% higher than they did in 2008. They\u2019re gonna have to pay back what we owe to China. I think a lot of college kids are profoundly aware of it. They\u2019ve been showing up on television.<\/line><\/p>\n

I\u2019ll tell you what the fear is, Gloria, if you want to be worried about something — and Obama\u2019s even alluded to this already. I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if sometime in October Obama (he may even spring it in a debate, I don\u2019t know) floats the possibility that he knows how tough it is out there. This economy was so much worse than anybody knew. He and Biden inherited this mess that Bush and Cheney never were honest about. It was that bad, and these Obama-Biden policies, they\u2019re working.<\/p>\n

“Boy, if we hadn\u2019t done the stimulus, and if we hadn\u2019t done everything else? Well, you think it\u2019s bad now? You don\u2019t know how bad it\u2019d be! Our policies have actually done magic, but still it\u2019s really tough out there.” So he\u2019ll float the idea of forgiving the student loans or writing off the interest or whatever. He\u2019ll make these college kids think that if he\u2019s elected, their debt will go away. I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if he does the same thing with mortgages. Offer people whose homes are underwater the idea that the federal government will just pay it for \u2019em.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s capable of anything, and it\u2019s what he wants people to think is gonna happen to them anyway. That\u2019s what he wants people thinking of when they think government. They\u2019ll pay off the mortgage, pay off student loans, take care of stuff like this. That\u2019s what the government is for. That\u2019s what being an American is. Being an American means you don\u2019t go into debt! Being an American means the banks can\u2019t screw you! Being an American means that Obama\u2019s government is gonna take care of all of us who get ripped off by the corner drugstore, the big mall, and the bank.<\/p>\n

There are a lot of arrows still left in Obama\u2019s quiver that he can pull outta there, and he\u2019ll do it as we get closer to the election. There\u2019s a story in New York Times: “Big Income Losses for Those Near Retirement — Americans nearing retirement age…” What is the retirement age now? I mean, I know it differs from person to person. What is the retirement age? 65? 55? 50? 40?<\/p>\n

(interruption)<\/p>\n

Sixty-seven.<\/p>\n

Well, “Americans nearing retirement age have suffered disproportionately after the financial crisis: along with the declining value of their homes, which were intended to cushion their final years, their incomes have fallen sharply. The typical household income for people age 55 to 64 years old is almost 10% less in today\u2019s dollars than it was when the recovery officially began three years ago, according to a new report from Sentier Research, a data analysis company that specializes in demographic and income data.<\/line><\/p>\n

“Across the country, in almost every demographic, Americans earn less today than they did in June, 2009, when the recovery technically started.” Now, stop and think of that. That\u2019s not Bush, by the way. This is the Obama “recovery.” By everybody\u2019s definition — by the media\u2019s definition, the Democrats\u2019 definition — it\u2019s Obama\u2019s recovery. You can\u2019t escape the word “recovery” in every news story on the economy. The jobs numbers report says, “In what could provide disappointing news for the ongoing economic recovery,” blah, blah, blah.<\/p>\n

So everybody acknowledges we\u2019ve been in an economic recovery since June of 2009. Obama was immaculated in January 2009. So to hell with Bush, and to hell with all that stuff that Obama wants to blame it on! Incomes have fallen since the recovery began, and that means since the regime began. “The typical household income for people age 55 to 64 years old is almost 10% less in today\u2019s dollars than it was when the recovery officially began three years ago … “Younger Americans have also felt income declines in the three years since the recovery began. … Black Americans appear to have suffered the most…<\/p>\n

What do you mean, it\u2019s racist?<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t say that? Why?<\/p>\n

Why is it racist to say “Black Americans appear to have suffered”…?<\/p>\n

(interruption)<\/p>\n

Oh, because Obama\u2019s black? Well, if he didn\u2019t do it and they didn\u2019t do it, who did it?<\/p>\n

(interruption)<\/p>\n

Oh, Bush did it.<\/p>\n

Okay.<\/p>\n

Rick Warren. You remember Rick Warren, the big confab between Obama and McCain, back in 2008? I remember that. I remember McCain did really well in that thing, by the way. McCain was smoking in that thing. But the whole thing ticked me off anyway because what everybody wanted to do in 2008 was stand in the “light” of Obama. That\u2019s when everybody was buying into all this messianic stuff. Everybody thought we had somebody brand-new, unlike anything we\u2019d ever had in politics before, and I disagreed.<\/p>\n

To me, Obama was just the next liberal to come down the pike. And if you know one liberal, you know them all, and there\u2019s no such thing as a new one. There\u2019s no such thing as some liberal like we\u2019ve never seen before. We\u2019ve seen every extreme. I mean, the differences in Obama are not ideological. Well, he perhaps maybe is more extreme and more radical than some of the others, but still there was nothing new. I really winced when I saw people falling for the image everybody was pushing.<\/line><\/p>\n

I thought Rick Warren fell for it. I thought Rick Warren was just like everybody else. “Okay, here\u2019s a chance for me to get my church in the news and get me in the news. I\u2019ll be with Obama here and it will be cool.” Well, you know how all of you feel about Akin <\/a>destroying the country? That\u2019s how I felt about people sidling up to Obama in 2008. It\u2019s the same way. Well, anyway, Rick Warren has canceled this year\u2019s version of that thing of his forum at the Saddleback Church, and he was asked why.<\/p>\n

They said, “You said you canceled the presidential civil forum because of the negativity and a larger issue. What is that?” Rick Warren said, “It is the crumbling of our Constitution\u2019s first guaranteed freedom: the freedom of religion. This issue is more significant and has far greater implications for America\u2019s future. People have forgotten that America was founded by people who came here to escape religious persecution. Freedom of religion is the first freedom mentioned in the Bill of Rights — before freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom to assemble, and every other freedom.<\/p>\n

“And yet today, at the city, the state, and the federal levels, government bureaucrats are daily trying to limit that freedom, impose restrictions, and stifle expressions of faith on campuses, in hospitals, and in businesses.” It\u2019s one guy and his party doing this! It\u2019s Barack Obama! It\u2019s Barack Obama and the Democrat Party. See, my point is this could have been known back in 2008. It was known. He\u2019s a liberal! This is what they believe. He hasn\u2019t changed. Everybody who thinks, “Well, this Obama guy, you know, four years ago he was really cool. Now look.”<\/p>\n

He\u2019s the same guy! It\u2019s what\u2019s been frustrating to me.<\/p>\n

Anyway, I welcome it when anybody sees the light. I do.<\/p>\n

I just wish Todd Akin would, since I brought that up.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello. Hey, mega dittos, Rush, from behind the Cheddar Curtain in Madison, Wisconsin.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I was remembering when I first heard you quite a few years ago back in the late eighties. And I not only remember where I was at but I remember what you were saying and some things that helped me start a business and do some things that, you know, put me in a place where I\u2019m at today. You know, things like self-reliance, individualism. And most important would be that when there\u2019s recession or the chips are down, you don\u2019t have to participate in it if you pull yourself up by the bootstraps and get things done.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right on. Now, how did you feel when the president told you back on July 13th that you didn\u2019t do any of that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, yeah. Obviously, you know, that was not the case when I started the business and started things rolling. It just infuriates me and a lot of people that are around. I mean, I think you\u2019re gonna have a big surprise when election time comes around, because these polls don\u2019t mean anything. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Well, according to Obama, you owe me a certain percentage of the profits \u2019cause if it weren\u2019t for me you wouldn\u2019t-a done what you did. You just said so.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, believe me, they are taking it already. They just don\u2019t know it. <\/p>\n

RUSH: (chuckling)<\/p>\n

CALLER: Anybody that\u2019s in business realizes the impact that government has when they keep taking. They\u2019re the first ones that take and the second ones that take. But, you know, it\u2019s about hard work and being self-reliant. It\u2019s really important that you just gotta get in there, find out what your passion is — as you always said — and then go after it \u2019cause it\u2019s there for you. And I think people are gonna have a lot of opportunities when Obama gets tossed out and we get some fresh ideas in there.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You talk about self-reliance and all that. What is your philosophy on setting goals for yourself?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, aim high! You know, aim high, and things are obtainable. It might seem like the chips are down. Especially, you know, in the Madison area. It\u2019s always negative news all the time, and they feed off that negative energy.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, Wisconsin is case number one why nobody should believe negative polls. Not after what happened in Wisconsin with Scott Walker and the recall.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s a great example of how people ought not listen. And you said at the beginning of your call that you think these polls are way off.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Absolutely. I think when Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan get in there, they\u2019re gonna be like a fox in the henhouse. It\u2019s gonna be easy to clean some stuff out of there and get everything on the right track. If anybody\u2019s ever considered starting a business, do it when this thing turns over. You know, things are at the bottom; things are gonna turn around. We just need to stop the bleeding right now. Get rid of this guy and start moving forward. But, you know, aim high with goals. Just listen to your show. I\u2019ll tell you what: There\u2019s a lot of good things in there, and people just need to listen and believe that they can do it and believe in themselves. It\u2019s huge. I thank you so much for being able to voice that. You just don\u2019t get that in this area hardly at all, so thank you.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hey!<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m actually in Lenoir today. I\u2019m on the road today but I\u2019m from Conover. Business grad and Christian school parent dittos to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I appreciate it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just have two points that I can\u2019t believe that they\u2019re not being discussed or brought out with Obama, Mr. Blame President, trying to not take responsibility for what\u2019s going on. If you remember — and you\u2019re one of the ones that talked about it — when Obama became the clear nominee in May of 2008, the Stock Market was over 13,000, if I\u2019m right. And, at that point, the Stock Market began to fall when it became clear that Obama was probably gonna be the nominee. Not because he had taken control, but because we knew, with your education of the public, what he was about.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And the same thing started happening with unemployment. It started going up.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Unemployment started going through the roof in October, and particularly November after Obama won. No, you\u2019re exactly right about this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Businesses started hiding. They started retreating. They started getting conservative in their decision making. Because they knew the storm was coming, or at least smart businessmen did.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Since you\u2019re bringing up the Stock Market when Obama was nominated, does anybody remember what the gasoline price was when Obama was immaculated? Try under two bucks, and now it\u2019s over $4! It\u2019s back up to $4 in California and other places. And that\u2019s gotta be the comparison. When he was immaculated, what was the gas price? This week, folks, I had a story<\/a>, and you know what it said? The gas price is over $4 but people don\u2019t care now. It\u2019s just not that big a deal to people anymore. It\u2019s an amazing thing. Nothing to see here! Let\u2019s talk about how Romney killed the guy\u2019s wife.<\/a><\/line><\/p>\n

Well, compare it now to when Obama was immaculated just like everything else, and it\u2019s an utter disaster.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
