RUSH: It\u2019s great to have you here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Mr. Limbaugh. I just wanted to thank God that I finally get to talk to you after eight tries with Mr. Snerdley. It\u2019s so wonderful. We love you up here in North Carolina.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank you!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you so much for all you do for us.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just wanted to say: They [the Obamas] talk about having so many struggles. Why would your wife wear $5,000 tennis shoes <\/a>to a food kitchen and eat all this costly beef and stuff? They don\u2019t even know what the people on the street are going through. And tonight when they put Bill Clinton on, he\u2019s going to just show everybody. I\u2019m afraid for the Republicans. They\u2019ve got to fight if we\u2019re going to win this thing, don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, I do. Now, would you tell me what you mean, though, when you say, “The Republicans are going to have to fight if we\u2019re going to win this thing”?<\/p>\n

CALLER: They\u2019re just going to have to let the people on the street know that they\u2019re for them, the Republicans. My father, bless his soul, always said that America fares better under the Republicans than they do Democrats.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s Democrats — and especially taking God<\/a>, you know, away from everything. If we keep Obama four more years, we\u2019re all going to be driving cars with no bottoms and climbing in dumpsters.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughing). So right! We\u2019re all going to have rusted-out car doors. And they\u2019re all going to be \u201957 Chevys. That\u2019s exactly right. Trudy, thanks much for the call. It\u2019s the old branding thing: Republicans are for the rich, Democrats for the poor. Trudy thinks Republicans have to do something to make average people think the Republicans care about them. I think what the Republicans have to do is quite simple: Just expose Obama. There\u2019s not time and there\u2019s really not a way here to rebrand the party.<\/p>\n

You can\u2019t change the branding that Republicans don\u2019t like poor people. The way the Republicans have to do this, is the Romney camp is going to have to expose Obama\u2019s record. They can\u2019t pussyfoot about this! I shouldn\u2019t be the only one pointing out that it\u2019s 23 million people that don\u2019t have jobs, and Eastwood<\/a> shouldn\u2019t be either. I shouldn\u2019t be the only one pointing out that average family income is down four grand. I shouldn\u2019t be the only one pointing out that we haven\u2019t had anything under 8% unemployment since Obama took office.<\/p>\n

I shouldn\u2019t be the one pointing out that there is no recovery.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This is the worst recovery since the Great Depression. What we need to do is point out that Obama, if he does care for average people, doesn\u2019t know what to do about them because he\u2019s destroying them. Obama\u2019s record is the goldmine! Obama\u2019s record is what it is. Obama\u2019s record is what the Democrats are scared to death of. Obama\u2019s record is what they\u2019re trying to deflect everything from. Obama\u2019s record is four years <\/a>of utter failure, four years of disaster, four years of unmitigated economic collapse.<\/p>\n

The Democrats are doing everything they can to keep that from being discussed. The Republicans have to stop falling for all these deflection tricks and go after the record. They\u2019re afraid that if they go after Obama they\u2019ll tick off the independents and they\u2019ll be seen as racist or whatever. Get rid of that! These are real people\u2019s lives that are being affected here. The “historical” nature of Obama\u2019s presidency is done for.<\/p>\n

Two days after he was immaculated, okay. He was The First Black President. Now he\u2019s THE PRESIDENT. Not The Black President. Not The Male President. Not The Golfing President. He\u2019s “The President.” His policies are disastrous. There\u2019s a record that demonstrates it, and it needs to be exposed. If I was a Republican, my mindset would be: “Win this in a landslide.” If I were the Republicans, my attitude would be, “Go for everything. Win this as big as possible and give myself as big a mandate as possible after I win.” I\u2019d shoot everything we\u2019ve got!<\/p>\n

We\u2019re talking about saving the United States of America here as it was founded.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what I think “Republicans fighting” means.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s another thing: Why didn\u2019t Democrats claim any credit for gutting welfare reform last night? These are not the Democrats I\u2019ve come to know and appreciate. They would have taken credit for taking the work requirements out of welfare reform! But they know that they don\u2019t have a whole lot of popular support being who they are. They know it, folks. This convention was so eye-opening in that regard.<\/p>\n
