CALLER: Hi. Thanks for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m kind of frustrated with the whole thing, and I can\u2019t understand why there\u2019s so many ignorant people out there who don\u2019t see what Obama is doing.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me ask you, Stephanie, I asked myself today, everybody does, not just you, why do you think that so many are ignorant about what Obama is doing?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I guess they\u2019re not listening to the news —<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, no. No, no. Why do you think there are so many, not why are they ignorant. Why are you convinced there are so many who are?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Maybe 47% of \u2019em are because of the handouts.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s a serious question because I think this is what the election\u2019s all about. We are assuming — I do, too — that the country is just lazily apathetic, that whatever bad thing happens, nobody\u2019s bothered by it. Nobody\u2019s bothered by the ambassador being shot. Nobody is bothered by Obama blaming the video.<\/a> Nobody is bothered by high unemployment. Nobody is bothered by the economy never in a state of recovery in three-and-a-half years. Nobody is bothered by the fact they can\u2019t make any money anymore. Why do we all think nobody cares anymore? What\u2019s the evidence?<\/p>\n

CALLER: The media.<\/p>\n

RUSH: A-ha.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The media<\/a>, you know, they lie. They\u2019re not telling the truth.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So you think more people do care about this, we just don\u2019t see reporting on that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Or are you hoping? See, isn\u2019t the great fear, isn\u2019t the great fear that you\u2019re right, that a majority of people just don\u2019t care. Like, you can say 23 million people aren\u2019t working, but they\u2019re eating and they\u2019re using their cell phones, and they\u2019re able to watch the NFL <\/a>on their flat screens.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. And, you know what? I couldn\u2019t watch the ball game last night.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why not?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t have a big flat-screen TV.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I work. I don\u2019t depend on the government —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I see. You work.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — to give me handouts. Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You work so you don\u2019t have a screen.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I don\u2019t have a big flat-screen TV.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Yeah. I got you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But I work, and I don\u2019t expect somebody to hand me —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m gonna give you the answer. The answer to the question is in the polls. When you see on one hand the country literally disintegrating and everything about it that made it great under attack, when you see high unemployment, home values plummeting, all the evidence of economic collapse, all the debt, when you see all the unemployment, and then you see Obama at 47% with 50% approval, you say, “How the hell can this be?” And that makes you ask, “Why and how have all these people grown so apathetic?” It\u2019s the polls that make you think this way, right?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. And that\u2019s exactly what they\u2019re trying to do.<\/p>\n

<\/a>CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The purpose of the people right now, most of them doing these polls, they\u2019re trying to make news, not reflect it, they\u2019re advancing an agenda. They\u2019re all Democrats. They\u2019re all liberals. They just have different jobs. The polls are the replacement refs. They see certain things. They don\u2019t see other things. They don\u2019t call certain things, and other things go by. In this case, what they\u2019re trying to do is exactly what they\u2019ve done in your case: frustrate you, make you pull your hair out, say, what the hell\u2019s happening to the country? They want you thinking the country\u2019s lost. They want you thinking your side\u2019s lost. They want you thinking it\u2019s over for what you believe. And that makes you stay home and not vote. That\u2019s what they\u2019re hoping. That\u2019s why you have to fight it every day, Stephanie.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I do; I do. And it\u2019s so frustrating. You know, I wish somebody could say, “Hey, this is what\u2019s gonna happen on Election Day.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I know, I would love to be able to tell you, but see, nobody knows. Nobody knows. Not even the pollsters will predict that their poll is right, right now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
