RUSH: Here\u2019s Rick in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. Great to have you on the program. You know, I\u2019ve often wondered: How does something get named “Little Egg Harbor”? Do you know? I mean, you\u2019re from there. Do you have any idea how that got its name? <\/p>\n

CALLER: No, Rush, I just moved here in February. I have no idea.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there\u2019s gotta be a reason. I\u2019ll find it on Wikipedia.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I know. I don\u2019t know if there\u2019s a Big Egg Harbor, but I\u2019m Little Egg Harbor. I was wondering. I was following Timmy\u2019s call<\/a>. By the way, congratulations, Timmy! I think you\u2019re great, and I think there are lots of people out there that think along the lines you\u2019re thinking.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I certainly hope so.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. But I was wondering if you came across an article by Steven Rattner in the New York Times called “Beyond Obamacare” where the very first line of the article is “WE need death panels”?<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. When was that? <\/p>\n

CALLER: It was dated September 17th. I think it was Saturday\u2019s New York Times. I\u2019m not 100% sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t see anything in New York Times unless somebody sends it to me.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I don\u2019t see it, either.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t read it. Is that really…? Steven Rattner was the car czar. He was the first car czar. He\u2019s Little Pinch Sulzberger\u2019s best friend.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uh-huh. Yup.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I think together they weigh about 140 —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — and their wives together weigh about 80. <\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughs)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, ex-wives. Whatever. He actually started out by saying…?<\/p>\n

CALLER: “WE need death panels.” First sentence. First of all, it\u2019s New York Times, so I can\u2019t read the whole article \u2019cause I wanna just put my fist through my computer.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I gotta find that. No offense, but anybody can call here and say anything. And I woulda thought that somebody woulda told me about this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Bo said I was the first.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are the first, and it\u2019s 11 days ago this happened.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. I tried to get you yesterday, \u2019cause you were talking about somebody bringing up how stupid Sarah Palin is, and I\u2019m sitting here saying, “I remember how crazy the left went when she brought up death panels or Betsy McCaughey would bring it up or you would bring it up or Glenn Beck brings it up.” We\u2019re always crazy when we bring up these things, but here we are right here in the New York Times, Steven Rattner, one of Obama\u2019s guys puts it right out there. “WE need death panels.” Then he goes on to say, well, maybe we should call it rationing. <\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, I don\u2019t know what he\u2019s wishing for. They\u2019re already there.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We\u2019ve already got rationing in Obamacare. There\u2019s already going to be death panels. (interruption) Snerdley just found it and has confirmed your reading of the story.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, another quote that I think is kind of exciting is you\u2019re talking about how Obama\u2019s giving away cell phones <\/a>and all that stuff. So I guess we\u2019re entitled to cell phones but it says here “that elderly Americans are not entitled to every conceivable medical procedure or pharmaceutical.” So they\u2019ll give you phones, they\u2019ll give you food stamps, but they won\u2019t give you life.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Let me tell you what this is. Let me tell you what this is. Rattner just doesn\u2019t one day decide to write this piece.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No!<\/p>\n

RUSH: Just like last November, Thomas Edsall <\/a>didn\u2019t just decide to write a piece that the Obama campaign was writing off white working-class voters. That piece was aimed right at New York Times readers, and the purpose of that piece is to get it out there that there are going to be death panels so that when it happens, they\u2019re ready. Particularly the death panels are gonna be judging whether or not the elderly live. It\u2019s exactly what we\u2019ve all said!<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s whether or not it makes sense to spend the money to keep \u2019em alive.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Amen, and there it\u2019s right there.<\/p>\n
