RUSH: Thank you very much. Great to have you here.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It is an honor and a privilege to talk to the Great One.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I appreciate that.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just had a question. With all that has been made of Mitt Romney\u2019s comments about the 47%<\/a>, do you remember many months back Joe Biden was interviewed and one of his comments about justifying a tax increase was that it\u2019s just the patriotic thing to do.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, for the rich. It\u2019s patriotic for the rich to pay more taxes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. So what does that say about the 47%? It\u2019s the patriotic thing to do —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, he wasn\u2019t talking about them. He was talking about the rich who are paying an even larger share now of the total tax burden, and they\u2019re still not paying their fair share. It\u2019s patriotic to pay higher taxes than what you\u2019re paying now. That was what Bite Me\u2019s point was.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. I just thought that was interesting. If I were one of the 47% paying no taxes, and he said paying higher taxes was the patriotic thing to do —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Again, he\u2019s not talking about them. The 47%, they are content. Whatever number of the 47% are wards of the state, they\u2019re happy. Not all that 47% wants to be in that group. But the people in the 47% who are content to be there, Biden, Obama would love to grow it. The more people dependent on government, the better. The more people angry, resentful of the rich, the better, as far as they\u2019re concerned. So he\u2019s never gonna be critical of the 47%. I wouldn\u2019t even think he\u2019s hypocritical about it because he was talking about the rich and the patriotism being willing to pay higher taxes instead of opposing a tax increase on the rich.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
