<\/p>\nRUSH: Tom Ridge was on America\u2019s Newsroom today with Bill Hemmer. Hemmer said, \u00c2\u201cIs this a head fake, Romney spending all this money in Pennsylvania? You think they have a legitimate shot winning at Pennsylvania?\u00c2\u201d<\/p>\n
RIDGE: They\u2019ve had a quiet ground game going on in Pennsylvania that nobody\u2019s noticed. We\u2019ve had more contacts in 2012 than we did in 2004 and 2008 together. The base is really excited, and at the end of the day, Pennsylvanians are suffering from the past four years with a lack of leadership in the White House.<\/p>\n
HEMMER: You\u2019re saying now that you think Romney wins your state?<\/p>\n
RIDGE: Yes, I\u2019m gonna go on record to say he wins it. It\u2019s gonna be close. Very, very close.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Tom Ridge, a big establishment Republican guy, is predicting Pennsylvania for Romney. Now, if he really didn\u2019t think Romney was gonna win, would he say that? Would he say, \u00c2\u201cWell, I don\u2019t really know\u00c2\u201d? He wouldn\u2019t say that. What he would say is, \u00c2\u201cBill, it\u2019s too close to call. It\u00c2\u2019s really hard to say. Anything can happen. It all depends on…\u00c2\u201d He could have said that to cover himself.<\/p>\n
No. He said, \u00c2\u201cI think he\u2019s gonna win it.\u00c2\u201d<\/p>\n
Now, he won\u2019t pay a price if they don\u2019t. Don\u2019t misunderstand. But still, he could have gone the other way. Here\u2019s Major Garrett, formerly of Fox, now at National Journal. He\u2019s on CBS This Morning with Norah O\u2019Donnell. She said, \u00c2\u201cState polls. They show Obama with a lead in Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Ohio. He has a five-point lead in Ohio. You\u2019ve been talking to team Obama, top officials in Chicago. What do they make of these numbers?\u00c2\u201d<\/p>\n
GARRETT: I was in Chicago two days ago, and they are supernaturally confident about the president\u2019s ability to win reelection. That\u2019s a normal place for the Obama campaign. The Obama campaign know their voter contacts, and if they know what they know they\u2019re going to win. But if everything they knew was wrong, they\u2019re going to lose. If everything we understand about this election is wrong, then we\u2019re gonna lose.<\/p>\n
RUSH: That\u2019s a hell of a thing to say. \u00c2\u201cIf everything that we know is wrong, we\u2019re going to lose.\u00c2\u201d These people do have the ability to lie to themselves.
