RUSH: Denise in Baltimore. I\u2019m glad you waited. It\u2019s great to have you on the program. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi. Thank you, Rush. I can\u2019t tell you what an honor it is to talk to you. I\u2019ve listened to you since, like, the Bush-Gore whole fiasco with the whole election. (giggles) So you\u2019re the only place I can always get the truth, so I\u2019m so honored. I\u2019m calling because I was very scared when I woke up this morning. I am scared that Obama is gonna win. I really don\u2019t want him to win.<\/p>\n

I went to a concert on Saturday night. It was a liberal comedian, I\u2019ll give you that, but I was so amazed by all the people in the audience that truly believed all the misinformation. Like, I can\u2019t believe how many people believe that Paul Ryan is evil and he\u2019s gonna take women\u2019s rights away from them<\/a>. It couldn\u2019t be further from the truth. And I just need you to kind of put me back on a level playing field and make me feel safe again. (giggling)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Denise, let me… In the first place, you\u2019re in Baltimore.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes! (giggling) So I have been very… I am, like, one of the few conservatives.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Number one: Believe me. Number two: Don\u2019t be scared; vote. And then find a bunch of other people to take with you to vote. Don\u2019t be scared.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (giggling) Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Denise, welcome to the club.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (giggling) I know!<\/p>\n

RUSH: There are a lot of us have been worried about those dummkopfs and what it means for the future of the country for years. How old are you, Denise? You sound young.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m only 40. I have a 20-year-old who has been listening to you her whole life. I have two 17-year-old twins. My son, he\u2019s studying political science. He just loves you. He listens to you all the time. So my kids have been raised on you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very good. Smart kids.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Smart kids, yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: But, look, you\u2019re identifying something that scares a lot of us. Let\u2019s say that Romney wins this (I\u2019ll make a prediction) 52-46. Do you know what that means?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That means 46% of the people of this country buy this crap! That is scary. That\u2019s what this election is all about is trying to save the country from people who don\u2019t know any better. For whatever reason, their minds have been polluted by education or by family or what have you. But it\u2019s a serious thing that a lot of people are worried about, and you\u2019re not alone by any stretch of the imagination in this.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m so concerned because these women that were there they truly believe that it\u2019s possible for Romney and Ryan to reverse Roe v. Wade, and they can\u2019t change it. That\u2019s furthest from the truth. I mean, I don\u2019t know where these people get that from. You know? I mean, it just upsets me. (giggles)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I know how you feel. It\u2019s difficult to understand irrationality. You\u2019re a rational person, and trying to understand irrational people is a very frustrating thing.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: At times like this, they are not to be understood. They are simply to be defeated, and we can work on saving them later. But, you know, let your fear work for you. Fear can be great motivator. Vote! And, by the way, there\u2019s safety in voting in groups in places like Philadelphia (chuckles), in certain precincts. But welcome to the club. I know your frustrated. I feel same way. I don\u2019t know. With everything we know now — just to give you one example — about the hoax that is global warming.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look at how many people believe that the car they drive is actually destroying the climate! They actually can be made to believe this. Now, psychologically, I understand why and how it works. I know how the left does it. I understand how they psychologically scare women into thinking that Romney and Ryan are somehow gonna take their rights away from them. I understand it.<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t make it any easier, but I understand how the left preys on people. The left preys on fear and crisis. You know, there\u2019s a saying that I evolved over the weekend. “Armageddon is a much easier sell than heaven.” Human nature, Denise, is just that way. People will believe the worst. They\u2019ll believe disaster theories. They will believe catastrophe theories. I know people in the financial advice business, and they laugh.<\/p>\n

They tell me if they ever need to goose their subscriptions, they simply put out a couple of issues predicting that financial collapse that everybody is convinced is gonna happen. They just predict it, and their subscriptions go way up. People want to hear about it; hope to stop it. But you tell people that the end is near, and they\u2019re gonna believe it. It\u2019s just part of human nature. It\u2019s why the people that write books on positive thinking can become millionaires, because it\u2019s hard to do.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s quite natural to be a pessimist.<\/p>\n

<\/a>It is quite natural to believe Armageddon is coming as opposed to something good is gonna turn out. Fear is a very, very powerful thing. I\u2019m gonna quote to you from Ronaldus Magnus back in 1976. He said, “I\u2019m convinced that today the majority of Americans want what those first Americans wanted: A better life for themselves and their children, a minimum of government authority. Very simply, they want to be left alone in peace and safety to take care of the family by earning an honest dollar and putting away some savings. This may not sound too exciting, but there\u2019s something magnificent about it.”<\/p>\n

That was Reagan 1976.<\/p>\n

A lot of us fear we\u2019ve lost that. A lot of us fear that that\u2019s not what people want anymore, that a majority don\u2019t want to work, that they\u2019d rather be taken care of, that they\u2019ll give up a little freedom and liberty for what they think is security. And we\u2019ve got an entire political party that\u2019s oriented around that premise. The Democrat Party is oriented around the notion that people are incompetent, incapable, don\u2019t want to work, and will gladly turn their lives over to government.<\/p>\n

And that\u2019s who Barack Obama\u2019s trying to win the election with. Your fears are justified. You see these people up close and personal. You don\u2019t understand them. You\u2019re a thinking person; you don\u2019t understand how in the world they can believe such ridiculous things that the comedian or whoever is telling them. But they do, is the bottom line. For now, they do. And yours is not to reason with them. Yours is not to change their minds now. You can\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Yours is to outnumber them tomorrow.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s our objective: We just have to outnumber \u2019em. You\u2019re part of that.<\/p>\n

Just make sure you vote.<\/p>\n
