RUSH: Remember the caller we had in California last week<\/a>, so upset at what\u2019s happening to his state. He was going on and on, “Rush, remember when they passed the lottery out here they promised to pay for education for 25 years.” He was listing a bunch of things wrong with the state, and I said, “Sir, the people of that state are voting for it. They are not being fooled. The people of California just voted to raise taxes on themselves.” Now, they think they\u2019re raising taxes on the rich. But before it\u2019s all said and done they\u2019re raising taxes on those who still pay taxes. <\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

By the way, the number of people actually paying for California to work is shocking. Somebody sent me a note. There was apparently a roundtable discussion recently, and one of the participants on the roundtable said, “If you count all the living souls in California, including inmates, mentally ill, children, retirees, but don\u2019t count state government employees, count everybody but state government employees, 37% of the California population actually works. And of the 37%, only half make enough to pay taxes. <\/p>\n

So in California, only 37% are creating anything of value, and of that 37%, only 18% are actually paying taxes to support the system. Is it any wonder then that on November 6th Californians voted to raise taxes on those people. And Mayor Brown\u2019s all happy. This tax increase is gonna work because the people voted for this one. They didn\u2019t have this one shoved down their throats, and he\u2019s right. They\u2019re voting for what they\u2019re getting. They\u2019re not being fooled at all. People of California want what is happening. There\u2019s no arguing that, folks. No way, shape, manner, or form. Just like there\u2019s no arguing here that we are dealing with this phenomena known as Santa Claus that exists in the Democrat Party. No question about it whatsoever. I told you we\u2019re gonna have more Christmas tunes as we get closer to the season highlighting Baracka Claus, and we do. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Here\u2019s Andrew, Oklahoma City. Great to have you on the program, sir. You\u2019re up first today.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, it\u2019s great to speak to the great El Rushbo. I am a true Rush Baby. I have been listening to you for the past 20 years, and I am only 27 years old.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I appreciate that, sir. Thank you very much. I really appreciate that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, I don\u2019t fit into the so-called demographic of the old angry white guys<\/a> in the country that was said about you earlier. I\u2019m a young guy. I live in the city.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, Andrew, how old are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m 27.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re not 65.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. Do you live in the sticks or — Oklahoma City is not sticks. It is to Steve Schmidt.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s not in the sticks, no.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Are you white?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am white.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well. See, you\u2019re still the problem then.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, my question for you today is, how do we promote conservatism when the Republican leadership doesn\u2019t even buy into it?<\/p>\n

RUSH: You live it. You just live it. <\/p>\n

CALLER: The Democrats, you look at them, liberalism, at least they buy into it and they believe their own medicine, when our leadership doesn\u2019t believe the ideals of the party.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Our leadership cannot make the case for conservatism. Our leadership cannot make the case for liberty or freedom. Our leadership is not interested. Our leadership<\/a> is just like theirs, invested in government to an extent. Government\u2019s where all the money is. Government\u2019s where you make all your money. That\u2019s where all the money goes, to Washington.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely. I see the backlash from the Santa Claus controversy here, and the hard work is frowned upon as a way to success. It\u2019s a little troubling.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, what would you call redistribution of wealth, by the way? I mean, what is it? The redistribution of wealth is taking from someone and giving it to somebody else who has not earned it. That is a key. How is that not a comparative description to Santa Claus? Now, Santa Claus makes his own stuff, theoretically. His little elves are up there making all those iPhones and stuff. Santa Claus is not really taking from somebody else, but Santa Claus is still the gift giver, and that\u2019s how the Democrats want to be perceived. <\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

But your question here, hard work is frowned on. I take you back to Republican convention. <\/a> I happened to like that convention a lot. I thought that convention was uplifting and inspiring, and particularly to the minority groups that we\u2019re trying to reach. And when I hear Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, and others say we\u2019ve gotta reach out with conservatism<\/a>, we gotta take conservatism to everyone, I totally agree. But the party\u2019s not doing it. The party hasn\u2019t done it in I don\u2019t know how long, to be quite honest with you. <\/line>But is that not what our convention attempted to do, exactly what Rubio and Jindal are suggesting needs to be done? <\/line><\/p>\n

I\u2019m getting blue in the face repeating this. We had the most accomplished, the most achieved in politics, minorities in this country. And they all had a common story. All of this is important, and that common story, they came up from nothing with hard work and became the best they could be. They reached the pinnacle, some of them are still climbing, the pinnacle of their careers. And that scared people. Jindal and these guys are gonna have to realize that conservatism scares people right now. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, I\u2019m holding here in my formally nicotine-stained fingers a most fascinating piece. Right here it is. It\u2019s in the Daily Caller and it\u2019s by Caroline May. Here\u2019s the headline. “Homeland Security Promotes Welfare to New Immigrants in Government ‘Welcome\u2019 Materials.” And she begins her piece with this. “Ask not what you can do for your country but what your new country can do for you.” I\u2019m not kidding. WelcometoUSA.gov is the website. Go click on it. <\/p>\n

“‘Welcome to USA.gov,\u2019 a website maintained by the Department of Homeland Security\u00c2\u2019s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), bills itself as the ‘primary gateway for new immigrants to find basic information on how to settle in the United States\u2019 — featuring a prominent section for new immigrants about how to access government benefits. ‘Depending on your immigration status, length of time in the United States, and income, you may be eligible for some federal benefit programs,\u2019 the Web page reads.<\/p>\n

‘Government assistance programs can be critically important to the well-being of some immigrants and their families. Frequently, however, there is a lack of information about how to access such benefits. Benefit programs can be complicated and you may be given misleading information about how they operate.\u2019 The DHS page offers links to government websites that explain how to access benefits including food stamps, Supplemental Security Income –” These are newly arrived immigrants we\u2019re talking about. <\/p>\n

“Medicaid, Medicare, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and the ‘official website with information on all available federal benefit programs,\u2019 with a nonworking link to Benefits.gov.” Did you know that such a website existed? Benefits.gov. Now, it says here that the link doesn\u2019t yet work to benefits.gov. Let me read this to you again. While all these people are out saying that the government of Barack Obama, it\u2019s not about Santa Claus. That\u2019s an insult to people. The Department of Homeland Security page, Web page, WelcometoUSA.gov. This is new immigrants. Links to government websites that explain how to access benefits, including food stamps, Supplemental Security Income, Medicaid, Medicare, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and the official website with information on all available federal benefit programs, benefits.gov. <\/p>\n

“WelcometoUSA.gov also boasts to immigrants that ‘[f]ree public education for children is one reason many immigrants come to the United States.'” It is? I thought they came here for hard work and making their way in the world, become Americans. But the Obama website here says, no, they come here for free education for their kids. “Though the website appears to advertise benefits, new immigrants are not necessarily eligible for the benefits displayed on the website; enrollment in SSI and TANF may also serve as impediments to future immigration status adjustments. USCIS spokesman Bill Wright told The Daily Caller that the site is not intended to advise individuals on their eligibility.”<\/p>\n

It isn\u2019t? Well, what\u2019s it for then? If it\u2019s not to advise them on their eligibility, why do you have it? Why does it tell \u2019em what they\u2019re eligible for or might be eligible for. No Santa Claus, huh? It\u2019s not what Obama\u2019s all about, huh? It\u2019s not why we lost, huh? It\u2019s not why we\u2019re losing, eh? Can you imagine a website greeting newly arrived immigrants, “Welcome to the United States. If you\u2019re interested in finding a job,” blah, blah, blah, “go here.” Can you imagine how that would sell? No, if you want benefits, though, we\u2019ve got the answers for you right here. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
