RUSH: Sarah Palin made a great point the other day. Let me grab the sound bite. She might be on to something here. Let me find the number. What is it? Yeah.<\/p>\n

Number 17? No, 17 is “Joe Willie.” It\u2019s Joe Namath. Where is it now? Number 12. That\u2019s right, number 12. I know a 2 and a 7 look a lot alike when you\u2019ve been drinking. Sarah Palin was on Hannity last night, and they\u2019re talking about a Gallup poll. Let me find this poll. It\u2019s so frustrating. There\u2019s a Gallup poll out that says a majority of Americans do not want Obamacare<\/a>, and what else?<\/p>\n

Gallup poll on capitalism versus socialism: “72% of Republicans felt positively about capitalism. Only 55% of Democrats.” The next poll should not come as a surprise. “Seventy-five percent of Democrats feel positively about the term ‘the federal government.\u2019 Only 27% of Republicans feel positively about the term ‘federal government.'”<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

So, in other words, the left puts the federal government ahead of capitalism, freedom, and liberty, and so do their voters. That\u2019s what the Gallup poll shows and some of this other stuff, too. Hannity wanted Sarah Palin\u2019s reaction. “How do you explain that, for all these Democrats, the federal government trumps capitalism, freedom, and liberty?”<\/p>\n

PALIN: Perhaps some survey recipients who answered the question are confusing corrupt, dirty crony capitalism with genuine, free-market capitalism which is the good kind of capitalism. You know, we\u2019ve shone a bright light on the problems caused by crony capitalism in recent months, in the last year or two. And I think that perhaps capitalism in general has taken a hit because of this new public awareness, because of that light that\u2019s been shown on crony capitalism and perhaps people are believing that capitalism in general isn\u2019t such a good thing. Of course, that\u2019s a mistake.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I must, with all due respect, lodge my disagreement. I think the Democrats who oppose capitalism know exactly what they\u2019re opposing, and they oppose it because it isn\u2019t fair, and it isn\u2019t any more complicated than that. They don\u2019t like the fact that there are some losers, and they don\u2019t like the fact that you have to risk things. We have become a risk-averse society. People shouldn\u2019t have to take risks.<\/p>\n

How about the line, “Getting sick ought not mean going bankrupt”?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Democrats use that to scare people.<\/p>\n

Capitalism is what\u2019s gonna make you get sick and go bankrupt! So I think it all has to do with this notion of “fairness.” Crony capitalism is what Obama voters vote for. Crony capitalism is Solyndra. Crony capitalism is GE not paying any taxes and getting $800 billion in subsidies from Obama to run some phony green energy division. There\u2019s crony capitalism all over the place.<\/p>\n

My big beef about crony capitalism is that traditional Republican voters finally said, “To hell with it! We\u2019ll play ball with the government if they\u2019re on our side. I\u2019m a CEO, and if the government\u2019s gonna give me money that\u2019s gonna help my bottom line and make me look better, fine. If that\u2019s the way the game\u2019s played, I\u2019ll play it,” rather than standing on principles. I think so many capitalists have thrown their principles aside, and so many Obama voters — low-information and other — simply reject capitalism \u2019cause it isn\u2019t fair.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

There are winners and losers, and it isn\u2019t fair. “Some people don\u2019t deserve to lose. It not right. It just isn\u2019t fair.” We\u2019ve been hit with this for 50 years. They don\u2019t understand losing and winning and winning and losing and gaining and losing. It\u2019s not something that anybody thinks they should have to do. They don\u2019t think a “system” should contain losing. And to them, there is no losing when the government\u2019s providing for you.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re always gonna have something. “But with capitalism, you could have nothing! And these evil Republicans aren\u2019t gonna help you then.” With all due respect, I don\u2019t think they\u2019re confusing it with that. They vote for crony capitalists. They support it! Solyndra didn\u2019t bother anybody that voted for Obama, and he won. And the crony capitalism of not just Solyndra but all these other phony solar energy plants.<\/p>\n

You know, GM and all that, it didn\u2019t bother Obama voters. Capitalism does, though.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019d just like to wish you a Merry Christmas and God bless our troops. My point was that they talk about the fiscal cliff<\/a> . We reached the fiscal cliff already on November 6th. I hope that the Republican Party will cowboy up and ride that pony over the hill just like Thelma and Louise did with their hands up in the air. They are such — I mean, both parties for the last 40 years have had us just…they haven\u2019t led the country. They\u2019ve led party. And party\u2019s more important than the country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m just so tired of these idiots and their blabber mouth and their talking points. I\u2019d like to see their face on January 1st when they wake up and reality hits \u2019em in the face to see what they\u2019ve done to this country —<\/p>\n

RUSH: How\u2019s it gonna affect them? What do you mean, wake up on January 1st and see what they\u2019ve done? They don\u2019t need to wait \u2019til January 1st to see what they\u2019ve done to the country. Look at it now.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, I agree with you there, but can you imagine when it\u2019s official, when they really see the stark reality of what they have done.<\/p>\n

RUSH: We haven\u2019t been able to afford most of what we\u2019re paying for for decades. They know it. They\u2019ve been kicking the can down the road. They\u2019re gonna do it again.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, they can only kick it so far, and the can\u2019s either crushed or the country\u2019s gone. Nobody on either side is really taking anything serious about what the problems are in this country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Look, I know what you\u2019re saying, and I understand your emotion, but I have to tell you something. The day is never gonna come where these people are gonna wake up and see whatever damage they\u2019ve caused and associate it with themselves. You can dream. It ain\u2019t gonna happen.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you have a point there. Maybe America will wake up and replace the idiots. I mean, we just can\u2019t go on like this.<\/p>\n

RUSH: To hell with it. We are the idiots. For example, crony capitalism. You know who the cronies are, is the Democrats. That\u2019s why they support it. The Democrats are the cronies.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know. It\u2019s a mess. <\/p>\n
