RUSH: Susan Rice has withdrawn her name from the running <\/a>to be the next secretary of state. The thing is, she was never nominated. I think this whole thing has been a giant distraction. I think Obama wanted somebody else in there all along. Now, I could be wrong about that, and she may have really wanted it. But now she has become a liability. If, in fact, it was legitimate. If he wanted her and she wanted it, they\u2019ve told her to go pound sand now, and that\u2019s purely because of Benghazi.<\/a> They simply do not want any hearings on Benghazi, and they wouldn\u2019t be able to avoid it if she\u2019s up there as secretary of state. <\/p>\n

So it looks like the old white guy network in the Senate is gonna nominate John Kerry, who, by the way, served in Vietnam. And Senator McCain is all for John Kerry.<\/a> Do you know they\u2019re buddies? McCain is in favor of Kerry being secretary of state. Somebody the other day suggested, maybe it was just today, a bipartisan compromise and nominate Colin Powell to be secretary of state again. What would be bipartisan about that? He\u2019s not a Republican. I mean, he says he is, but he\u2019s not. But I have read — I\u2019ve got the story here in the Stack — that if John Kerry, who, by the way, served in Vietnam, is nominated, that the swift boat guys are gonna maybe gear back up and oppose it. Wouldn\u2019t that be great? Oh, my gosh, folks, the left would just flip. It was Newt that suggested Colin Powell. That\u2019s right. It was Newt that suggested Colin Powell, a bipartisan compromise. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Susan Rice last night on the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. He played a portion of his interview with Susan Rice, and then he asked her, “Why was it you that Sunday morning?” Why did they send you out there to every Sunday show, five of them? “Of all the people in government, why the US Ambassador the United Nations answering questions about the attack at Benghazi?”<\/p>\n

RICE: Secretary Clinton had originally been asked by most of the networks to go on. She had had an incredibly grueling week dealing with the protests around the Middle East and North Africa. I was asked. I was willing to do so. It wasn\u2019t what I had planned for that weekend originally, but I don\u2019t regret doing that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Did you hear what she just said there? She said they asked her to go \u2019cause Hillary was tired. Hillary Clinton had originally been asked by most of the networks to go on. It was Obama who shut it down. Obama wanted Susan Rice out there. He wanted somebody far away from the story telling this lie that it was the video that led to the unrest. Somebody close to it woulda had a little bit tougher time with any credibility telling the lie. But you get Susan Rice, she\u2019s distant. She is the UN ambassador, got nothing to do with Benghazi, not in the State Department. She has no representation at the consulate or at Benghazi, send her out there, and so Brian Williams said, “Why send you?” “Well, you know, Hillary, she originally was asked, but she really had a grueling week. I mean, dealing with protests in the Middle East and North Africa, she was really tired.” And that reminded me of this.<\/p>\n

HILLARY: Let us say with one voice, the words of James Cleveland\u2019s great freedom hymn: “I don\u2019t feel no ways tired. I come too far from where I started from. Nobody told me that the road would be easy. I don\u2019t believe he brought me this far to leave me.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: “I don\u2019t feel no ways tired.” And yet she was too tired and beleaguered to head out there on the Sunday shows to explain what happened in Benghazi<\/a>. So Hillary, “I do feel in some ways tired.” And that\u2019s your leading Democrat presidential candidate for 2016. <\/a> She\u2019s been tired for how many weeks now? Hillary has been tired for how many weeks so she can\u2019t go on and explain? It\u2019s been two and a half months, and she\u2019s been two tired to talk about Benghazi. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
