CALLER: Hey, sir, how are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m good. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: All right! Hey, I\u2019m looking forward to this weekend \u2019cause it\u2019s Championship Weekend<\/a>. I don\u2019t know about yourself, and I just wanted to ask you what your take is on the potential of having a brother versus brother coaching against each other in the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know —<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think it will be great.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Because it\u2019d be epic. I think it might not ever happen again.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but the coaches don\u2019t play.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, so? It\u2019s still a good story line.<\/p>\n

RUSH: See? “Story line.” I was just gonna say to you, “I\u2019m not interested in story lines.” I\u2019m not. I\u2019m not trying to talk you out of your position. It\u2019s a football game. You can think whatever you wish about it. Don\u2019t misunderstand me now. I\u2019m not disagreeing with you. We\u2019re talking about preferences here and Harbaugh versus Harbaugh is, for about five seconds, “Oooh, that\u2019s pretty interesting,” and then I look at who\u2019s playing and whether I want to watch those two teams in a Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

“Do I want to watch the Fort\u2019iners and the Ravens in a Super Bowl?” That\u2019s what I ask myself, or, “Would I rather see the Fort\u2019iners and the Patriots, or would I rather see the Ravens and the Falcons? I have to be honest. There isn\u2019t a one of these matchups that really thrills me, but that\u2019s just me. My team\u2019s not there, my team didn\u2019t get close to getting there, and so my season is over half over now. But for those that like that story line, that game has happened.<\/p>\n

It was a Thanksgiving night game a couple years ago, Harbaugh versus Harbaugh.<\/p>\n

It was in Baltimore, and the Ravens won. We got about a week\u2019s worth of interviews with the parents and friends of the parents and boyhood friends and we got stories about how competitive both the Harbaugh boys were, how one was a practical joker. It went on and on and on. It never ended. (There were no hoax stories<\/a> involving those guys.) But if story lines are what you like, I guarantee you\u2019ll be tired of it after the first day because it\u2019s gonna be the story line, Harbaugh versus Harbaugh, and neither of them are going to play.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
