RUSH: I want to grab a phone call real quick because I forgot this. I thought about stealing this and then telling HR to tell the caller to go take a hike. But I want to give the caller credit for this. This is Grace in New York City. Hi, Grace. I\u2019m glad you called, and thank you very much. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, Rush, I love you. I love you! I\u2019ve been listening since the first week in July on WABC when you were on from ten to 12. Do you remember?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Gosh, I\u2019ll never forget. 1988. You\u2019re going all the way back to the start.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And you were the first show I listened to. I was apolitical until I just turned on the radio and heard your wonderful voice.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wow.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And I said, “Oh, my God, somebody that\u2019s saying what I think.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: I really appreciate that because, you know, I was by no means the first guy to do a talk show in New York, but I was the first one you noticed. So I\u2019ll I\u2019m really flattered.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yeah. You know, I was a mother with kids. I turned on the radio. I heard your wonderful voice, and you say things nicely. You know, some of the other people at that time were a little abrasive, but you said things nicely and you made so much sense.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You were entertaining, and I agreed with you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Aren\u2019t you sweet? I appreciate that. I really do. Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What I remember is this: Do you remember when you said you were gonna leave and Governor Paterson at the time was happy that you were gonna go?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I had forgotten this, but that\u2019s right. Here\u2019s her point. Phil Mickelson says 62, 63%, it doesn\u2019t make sense. I\u2019m thinking of leaving California, and everybody jumps in his chili and everybody gets on his case and he has to apologize and say he regrets talking about it publicly. When I said that I left New York because of high taxes the then-governor, David Paterson, said, “If I had known that —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: “– we could get rid of Limbaugh, I would have raised taxes sooner.” So your point is, in New York, they were happy to wave good-bye to me.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The governor made it plain he was happy to get rid of me, and if high taxes were the reason, then bring it on. With Mickelson, they were upset that Mickelson was gonna leave California, but in New York they were happy I was gonna leave. I know what your point is. Here you have the governor of a state essentially saying, “If I had known that I could get rid of this guy by punishing him with the tax code, I would have done it sooner.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Rush, I want to tell you something. The reason why they dislike you — I don\u2019t want to use the word “hate” — is because they know your fans, we love you so much. They\u2019re just jealous of you. We do love you so much.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I know that there is this incredible loyalty that the audience has for this show, and I am eternally grateful for it. I\u2019ve tried in any number of ways to be able to thank people for it. And they\u2019re always inadequate, but I gotta tell you: I\u2019m deeply moved by what you\u2019ve said. I really do appreciate it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, keep going, Rush, and God bless you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you. I appreciate it. I\u2019m not going anywhere.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughs) Yes!<\/p>\n

RUSH: No way. This is still too much fun, and there\u2019s another reason. All of this that\u2019s happening is going to implode, just like it imploded in the Soviet Union. Folks, socialism has never worked anywhere. It always implodes. It always fails. And Obama is nothing special. He\u2019s not a messiah. He doesn\u2019t have a magic wand that can turn a demonstrated failure of a system into a success. It is going to go the way of the dinosaur. The question is when, and how much damage is done in the process. It\u2019s a question of timing.<\/p>\n

It could be hastened if we had a little bit more political activism and leadership at the elected level, but this can\u2019t be sustained. It can\u2019t work. It never has worked. What\u2019s going to happen is what Margaret Thatcher said: The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of the other guy\u2019s money. You run out of other people\u2019s money. Now, in our case, we can print money. Italy can\u2019t print money; Greece can\u2019t print money. We can. So we can continue this charade longer than other nations have been able to.<\/line><\/p>\n

But at some point this is going to collapse on itself. The objective is to make sure the country is not permanently destroyed in the process of this happening. But this that Obama is trying, this that he wants to do cannot work. It cannot work mathematically. It cannot work politically. It cannot work ideologically. It never has. Nowhere has it ever worked at any time in human history. Obama\u2019s way has never worked. What will happen eventually is that the beneficiaries — the people who think that they are the beneficiaries, the people who are totally relying on government — at some point (and it may not be my lifetime, I don\u2019t know, but at some point) it\u2019s gonna stop.<\/p>\n

The gravy train is going to end. They\u2019re in for a huge shock and surprise. The low-information people are going to be stunned into reality at some point. There\u2019s no avoiding it. Now, hopefully we can hasten this with future elections. I know that looks bleak. But at some point, everything Obama believes in is gonna go down the tubes, because it always has. Call it whatever you want: Liberalism, progressivism. It is all built on a foundation of lies. The people who espouse it can\u2019t be honest about it.<\/p>\n

The people who believe in it cannot tell you what their real plans are. That\u2019s why the Democrats have not done a budget. The reason, the sole reason Democrats have not done a budget is to hide their true intentions. There have been some other reasons. Not doing a budget allows them to accomplish more of what they want, because they\u2019re doing it on the sly. You know, they\u2019re doing it in the dark, under the cover of darkness, and they\u2019re doing it crisis to crisis to crisis to crisis. But it\u2019s dishonest. It\u2019s like Reagan said about the Soviet Union. They\u2019re gonna implode of their own immorality. And he was right.<\/p>\n

It eventually will happen to every communist or socialist setup. Now, some last longer than others. Even North Korea, at some point — may not be in our lifetime — but that\u2019s gonna blow up. Cuba\u2019s gonna blow up. The ChiComs are engaged in a shell game right now. The ChiComs wouldn\u2019t be where they are if it weren\u2019t for capitalism. They can\u2019t admit it so they\u2019re trying to keep communist control over as much of their society as they can.<\/p>\n

The biggest fear that the ChiComs have is the people that live out in the country want to move to the cities. The ChiCom challenge, they\u2019ve gotta create jobs in the countryside to keep the peasants there. If they overrun the cities looking for work, there\u2019s big trouble. But the ChiCom solution, the ChiCom route to economic power has been capitalism. So that\u2019s why I\u2019m not going anywhere. It is gonna happen. It is gonna implode. It can\u2019t do anything other than that. As I say, it\u2019s what happens in the meantime. Just how damaged is the country going to be? And the potential for damage is great. I mean, real havoc is being reeked here. This country is being divided purposely along racial lines and class lines.<\/p>\n

I find it really stunning. We are going backwards in this country. We are separating people by class. We are separating people by race. We are not encouraging people to do better. We are not inspiring people to be the best they can be. We are essentially acknowledging that people are not very good and don\u2019t have much hope. Well, not “we.” The Obama people are thriving by telling their voters who they ought to hate, who they ought to oppose, who they ought to try to eliminate, wipe out, in a political sense, and it\u2019s all based on race or other forms of ethnicity. It\u2019s terrible. And now the Gallup poll is out and we\u2019ve lost our optimism<\/a>. And I don\u2019t think it\u2019s a coincidence.<\/p>\n

The level of optimism in this country is at a low not seen since 1979, Jimmy Carter. Only 39% of the people in this country are optimistic about the country. Now, I checked the e-mail when I mentioned this in the first hour or second hour<\/a>. People sent me e-mail, “Well, how do you explain Obama being reelected?” It makes perfect sense. If you\u2019re sitting out there and you\u2019re in a defeatist frame of mind, and you have no hope for the future, then you vote for the guy who\u2019s telling you that there\u2019s a way of dealing with all this and that he\u2019s in the process of fixing it or making it fair or what you have. But I think it makes perfect sense that the lowest level of optimism since 1979 would result in Obama being reelected.<\/line><\/p>\n

There\u2019s a lot of factors, by the way, that go into why Obama was reelected, and largely it\u2019s not enough Romney voters turned out. It\u2019s a whole ‘nother discussion for a whole ‘nother day. But we\u2019re in the midst here of, I think, designed — I don\u2019t say this lightly. We\u2019re in the midst here of designed class and race wars. They\u2019re brewing out there. The president, in an inaugural address, the president of the United States was filled with venom for his political opponents, and there are 60 some odd million of them who voted against him. It\u2019s not just the Republicans in Washington. There\u2019s 67 million Americans who voted against Obama. He declared war against them, too. He declared war against Republicans and, by extension, anybody who voted for them.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve got the biggest domestic challenge this country\u2019s faced in a long time, under the guise of fixing all of these horrors that went on in our past. We\u2019re heading right back to them. We are reconstructing those horrors under the guise of fixing it all, finally. There\u2019s a giant deception taking place, but my point here is that it has never worked, and it isn\u2019t going to work here. And at some point — I don\u2019t know what\u2019s gonna cause it, and this is not rose-colored glass eyesight or any of that. I\u2019m just telling you my instincts, gut instincts, prediction, future, what have you.<\/p>\n

This country breeds people who want to be good, be the best, who want prosperity. It breeds them. And at some point people are going to awaken and demand better and realize that it\u2019s gonna be up to them. Because the longer this goes on, the more it\u2019s gonna be demonstrated that all these promises are empty, that all this talk about everybody getting a fair shot and hard work — not gonna happen. And it\u2019s gonna get uglier before it gets better. But it\u2019s what was elected. Anyway, sorry for the long dissertation, but in response to our last caller, that\u2019s why I\u2019m hanging in there, \u2019cause I want to be here when it bottoms out and rebounds.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: So if you think that we can\u2019t do any better, why not vote for Obama? If you think, if you\u2019re part of the new group of pessimists, you say, “What difference does it make? I\u2019ll vote for Obama, what the hell. I\u2019ll vote for the first black president. At least they won\u2019t call me a racist. What the hell, I don\u2019t want anybody new.” If you think that you can\u2019t do any better, the whole thing\u2019s over. “I\u2019ll vote for Obama. Why not vote for Obama, what difference does it make anyway?” We were outnumbered by the takers in the last election. Makers didn\u2019t show up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
