RUSH: Here\u2019s Pat in Washington, nation\u2019s capitol. Great to have you on Open Line Friday. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush, what\u2019s going on?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very much, sir. There\u2019s lots cooking out there. How about with you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know, it\u2019s crazy to watch all this. So I got a comment here real quick. I\u2019ve been looking at Obama. It was tax-and-spend liberals, right?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Now they just print it, spend it, and tax later, right?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay. So where\u2019s the money? If he can wave a magic wand, what taxes would he impose on the people?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s why they\u2019re focusing on the rich. There\u2019s nobody left that has any money other than the rich. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. But my point is — and nobody ever talks about it. They want a wealth tax.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that has come up now and then, and I think it\u2019s possible. I think with this guy, any tax that is an increase is possible, be it a value added sales tax, a VAT tax. A wealth tax. The problem with the wealth tax is that the real rich in this country are not subject to any of Obama\u2019s tax increases. Those are his bundlers. (crosstalk)<\/p>\n

CALLER: — plan to hit the Koch brothers but leave Buffett, Gates, George Kaiser, how does he, you know, get —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but see, here\u2019s the thing. As he hits the Koch brothers, he hits his Hollywood buddies at the same time.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And as he hits the Koch brothers, he hits his Wall Street buddies at the same time.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, my point is, does he want to make enemies out of those people who are his friends? I think if he could isolate the Koch brothers, he would. And my instincts are, this guy doesn\u2019t care. He\u2019ll tax anything whenever he thinks he can get away with it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Michael Moore, Van Jones, those two, you\u2019ve heard them go on and on about how they should go after 401(k)s and just confiscate it. That\u2019s not a tax.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That plan is already in the works. The 401(k) plan involves the government taking your 401(k) money and then guaranteeing you some ridiculous cost of living promise increase every year. I\u2019ve forgotten the details. Jesse Jackson yesterday suggested that they go get the $6 trillion in private pension funds.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. You know, take it, it\u2019s all good. We\u2019ll pay you, it\u2019s no big deal.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s who he is. I mean, I can\u2019t argue with that. The odds are that if there\u2019s money out there that can be taxed, this is the guy that will do it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, Rush you got time for a quick anecdote?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, it\u2019s pretty funny. The night that Walker was not recalled, I turn on MSNBC, just to see how they\u2019ll spin this and turn it into a positive for \u2019em or whatever. I\u2019m watching this, and I go to bed, and my kid, she\u2019s at youth group, church thing, right, and she comes home and the TV\u2019s still on and she\u2019s getting ready for bed. And the next morning she gives me all this grief about what in the world were you watching, and I got more and more angry and what a pack of liars and I said, “Oh, yeah, it was the Walker thing and you were watching MSNBC.” She said, “Don\u2019t turn that crap on anymore.” And it was pretty funny.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, see, we get hopeful signs from the most unlikely places. Appreciate that. Thank you very much, Pat. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you very much, Rush, for taking my call.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just wanted to give my humble opinion. The legislative parlor trick by which the libs handcuff the conservatives, mainly fear of loss, is a better motivator than an opportunity to gain. And unless the conservatives produce the right orator who understands that and wins back the battle of words, especially in public debate, the conservatives will continue to lose ground in the House, Senate, and the executive branches of government, and thus the citizenry.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Give me an example of the Democrats selling the fear of loss. Give me an example.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, for instance, I remember when Pelosi said if they go along with Romney, women will drop dead in the abortion clinics.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: The truth is, from their policies, there\u2019s thousands of young women who are dying from sepsis infection, perforated uteruses, and —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, not to mention the babies dying in the abortion clinics.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Plus the babies, right. And it\u2019s just ironic that the very things that the libs accuse the conservatives stems from them accusing others of their legislative blunders. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, actually, this is a very good point. The left uses fear rather than inspiration. They use fear rather than optimism. Pessimism rather than optimism. You\u2019re right. They are always telling people in this country what they\u2019re going to lose, or what harm will become them if the Republicans succeed at anything. And yet, as the Democrats have success after success, that harm that they\u2019ve promised actually occurs to people. So it\u2019s a good point. It\u2019s like Ron Paul said in his last speech on the floor of the House of Representatives. He\u2019s a big Libertarian. He\u2019s amazed, he said, at how difficult it is to sell freedom, the concept of freedom to the American people. And I knew exactly what he meant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
