RUSH: I have a story that\u2019s by Paul Bedard in the Washington Examiner, and the way he begins this story is the exact way that I would have had I written it. He says, “There is no delicate way to say this.” Are you ready? “There is no delicate way to say this: Exposure to pornography softens opposition to same-sex marriage among the largest group of naysayers, heterosexual men. A new scholarly analysis suggests that the more straight guys, especially those who are less educated, watch pornographic videos, the more they warm to same-sex marriage.<\/p>\n

“The reason: Porn opens their mind up to accepting non-traditional sexual situations, like gay sex. ‘Our study suggests that the more heterosexual men, especially less-educated heterosexual men, watch pornography, the more supportive they become of same-sex marriage,\u2019 Indiana University Assistant Professor Paul Wright told Secrets. Explaining the findings of the analysis … Wright said, ‘Pornography adopts an individualistic, nonjudgmental stance on all kinds of nontraditional sexual behaviors and same-sex marriage attitudes are strongly linked to attitudes about same-sex sex.<\/p>\n

“If people think individuals should be able to decide for themselves whether to have same-sex sex, they will also think that individuals should be able to decide for themselves whether to get married to a partner of the same-sex.'” So this guy\u2019s theory is you watch porn and it softens… (interruption) Yeah? Well, that\u2019s kind of… (interruption) You watch porn and it softens your attitudes toward gay sex. And as your attitude toward gay sex changes, then so does your attitude toward gay marriage.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know where this came from. I don\u2019t know why these guys decided to study this aspect of it, but they did at Indiana University. The assistant professor is Paul Wright. He said, “Since a portion of individuals\u2019 sexual attitudes come from the media they consume, it makes sense that pornography viewers would have more positive attitudes towards same-sex marriage.” Hmm! Hmmm. Hmmmm. Hmmmmm!<\/p>\n

RUSH: I would not want to be this assistant professor at Indiana University today who has released his scholarly news that watching pornography boosts support for same-sex marriage. Here\u2019s the theory again. You watch porn, your attitudes on sex change. You become more open-minded about it, including same-sex sex. And once you become tolerant, accepting of same-sex sex, then same-sex marriage you also end up supporting. That\u2019s this guy\u2019s theory. And we know that gay rights, gay marriage is in the top two or three issues of college age kids today and younger. So anyway, I\u2019m thinking Chris Culliver, maybe the poor guy can watch a little porn, he won\u2019t have to go to sensitivity training. What would you rather do?<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s hard to follow that guy. But I like to tell you, your guy — the call screener — just called me “sweetheart.” I miss that. You know, we ladies used to be called “sweetheart” and “honey” and all sorts of things and it never really meant anything except for, “Here you go. You go first.” So, anyway, I miss that. I\u2019m 43.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait, you\u2019re not…?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, not at all. Don\u2019t get started because we\u2019ll get off on a tangent.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re not suing us?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. You got nothing left after your last suit! So, no. No, I miss that. You know, I am of the weaker sex, and I enjoy that sort of thing. It\u2019s nice.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, let me just tell you — it\u2019s not gonna take away from your time here so don\u2019t worry about it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I got fired. I got fired on the radio. Well, I got fired for using the word “therefore” too much but what I really got fired for —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, I got fired for using the word “black.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s different.<\/p>\n

CALLER: When I was talking about my own boyfriend.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s different. I mean, who gets fired for using the word “therefore” too much?<\/p>\n

CALLER: (giggling) You!<\/p>\n

RUSH: But actually I got in trouble. What started the trouble was that I was co-hosting an afternoon news show with a feminist, and I kept referring to her —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Mmm-hmm?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I did not “kept.” I occasionally referred to her as “dear.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: Ugh!<\/p>\n

RUSH: The formative years of my life when I learned about this, what feminism taught me was: “Don\u2019t compliment a woman\u2019s appearance. Do not open a door for her. Do not do this stuff \u2019cause it offends them.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. I\u2019m the opposite. Noooo.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s when I came of age. When I came of age, that\u2019s what guys my age were faced with.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I know. I know. We\u2019re a backwards country. My mom used to say, may she best rest in peace, we\u2019re “bass ackwards.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, Sweetheart. What did you call about?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you. (giggles) I did want to say, if you don\u2019t mind, a thank you to Mark Steyn and your staff. When you were off on MLK day, I got through. It didn\u2019t take as much time to get through to you today. But anyway, I got through and he invited my son and myself up to Hillsdale<\/a> to listen to a lecture, and they called a few times, and I was just impressed. I was impressed with the amount of effort that went into making sure that my son and I were able to get there. I felt that was another thing that was very cool.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very cool. Very cool.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, it was awesome.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very cool.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, my comment was this. I was in a small town. There were two video stores here… This goes back to your their thing that you started off with about the McKenzie Institute, you know, the thing about adult porn and all that crap. I live in a small town. There were two video stores here. One is Blockbuster, which I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve heard of, and another is Family Video. I don\u2019t know if that is just a statewide thing or not.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, wait a second.<\/p>\n

For people just tuning in, you\u2019re saying “the porno thing” and video. They may not know what you\u2019re talking about. There was a research survey, folks, done at Indiana University that she\u2019s commenting on. I named the professor who did it, and he found that young men who are exposed to pornography become more accepting of gay male sex and then gay marriage. This guy said the link to young men today supporting gay marriage and gay rights is pornography. That\u2019s what his research has indicated: Pornography, the more they watch it, the more open they are. He didn\u2019t say that gay sex is porn. I don\u2019t want anybody misunderstanding. That\u2019s not what he says. He\u2019s saying that young men who watch porn end up changing their minds on gay sex and gay marriage.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, you\u2019re calling to talk about that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (giggling) Yeah, I\u2019m actually calling to talk about something I think is really strange and it\u2019s just kind of a sign of the times. I mean, we are a very conservative state, Indiana. I probably never will move for that reason. I\u2019ve always thought that we were, you know, pretty conservative, but then you have to wonder with some of the things that go on. So, anyway, one store is Blockbuster which I\u2019m sure you\u2019re familiar with, and the other store was Family Video. Blockbuster recently went out of business because they just could not compete with Family Video. Here\u2019s my theory. It\u2019s because Family Video sells porn, and if you rent an adult movie, not meaning just porn, you can get a kids movie for free.<\/p>\n

RUSH: (laughs)<\/p>\n

CALLER: But, you know, you\u2019re standing in Family Video with your kid and you think you\u2019re the only folks in there (garbled).<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a second.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Isn\u2019t that crazy? (bursts out laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: At Family Video, if you rent porn they\u2019ll give you a kids movie for free?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, if you rent one. Yeah, sure! If you rent an adult movie, it doesn\u2019t have to be just porn. Let me not misrepresent Family Video.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The point is they throw in the kids movie free.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, isn\u2019t that sweet?<\/p>\n

RUSH: It is. But I want to correct you on something.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Blockbuster did not go out of business because of —<\/p>\n

CALLER: This town. No, no. Our town. I\u2019m sorry. Go ahead. They couldn\u2019t compete. But go ahead.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s not just that. Blockbuster is losing out to online downloads.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Redbox.<\/p>\n

RUSH: There\u2019s Netflix. Nobody is renting DVDs, not very many.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No nobody\u2019s renting but Family Video is thriving.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Except for porn! They are renting porn DVDs.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: And the kid video is free. Let me tell you something else about porn. You may think they need to offer kid movies free to sell it. They don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you know what determined who won Blu-ray versus HD DVD?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hmm?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you know what determined which format won, Blu-ray versus HD DVD?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no. No, no, no. I don\u2019t know. Go ahead. Tell me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: When the porn industry made up their mind.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (whispering) Oh, wow.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, the porn industry gave us VHS instead of Betamax.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: When they chose VHS, it was over for Sony.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: My point is, they\u2019re big. Porn\u2019s everywhere. It\u2019s big. I mean, it may be behind the curtain but a lot of people are behind the curtain.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Bin Laden was watching porn, too, but don\u2019t tell anybody that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (giggling) Hey, you know what? I got nothing to say about Obummer. You read my e-mail, okay? I sent you one. I love you, Rush. You take good care.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Thanks very much. I don\u2019t know when she\u2019s talking to me and whenever she\u2019s not, but it\u2019s my hearing. Anyway, I appreciate the call, Ann. Thanks much. (interruption) She said Obama. It was bin Laden watching porn. I didn\u2019t say Obama. She said Obama. (interruption) Okay, I didn\u2019t say Obama. Bin Laden was watching porn, and I said, “Don\u2019t tell anybody.” (interruption) I don\u2019t know, no. I wouldn\u2019t know the titles. (interruption) “Would bin Laden be more open to gay marriage because of his porn viewing?” Well, according to the survey result, scholarly research at Indiana U, he would be. <\/a>RUSH: Folks, remember, when it comes to gay marriage I have to mention: For the longest time, President Obama was publicly opposed to gay marriage, and last summer — a few short months before the Democrat National Convention — he changed his mind on it. He said he had “evolved.” Well, now he had the scholarly research from the University of Indiana, Indiana University, which claims there is a correlation between watching porn and becoming more accepting of gay marriage.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s relevant for the president. I\u2019m mentioning it, though. He\u2019s out Minneapolis talking about overhauling our gun laws. Only he knows how to do this. Only President Obama\u2019s the expert on that, and health care, and all the rest of it. I mean, we get whipsawed every day. Yesterday he said kids can\u2019t play in the National Football League.
