RUSH: S-u-m-y. Sorry. Sumy is how you say that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, I\u2019m used to it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Well, anyway, I\u2019ll be quick, my question has a few layers.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, go ahead. Give it a shot.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, back when Bush was president, when he was trying to do immigration reform, was he doing it to try to take the issue away from the Democrats? If it had passed, would it have succeeded?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Partially. But what was also driving that was a belief within the Bush power echelon that they could make the Republican Party a majority party forever if they could secure a majority of the Hispanic vote. It was a way to negate the power of the African-American vote for the Democrat Party, and they chose as their route to securing that immigration.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Would it have succeeded if it had passed or not?<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, if they had succeeded in immigration reform, would Hispanics have flocked to the Republican Party?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Is that what you\u2019re asking me?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, it would not have succeeded.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Why is that?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Because polling data and other empirical data indicate that 70% of the Hispanic population votes Democrat because they believe that government is the source of prosperity and the Republicans don\u2019t believe that. You want some proof? In 1986, Ronald Reagan and the Republicans passed and signed into law amnesty for a million and a half illegal aliens. At that time the Republicans got 37% of the Hispanic vote, 1986.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Huh-uh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: In 1988, two years later, George Bush runs for office as Ronald Reagan III. They got 30% of the Hispanic vote. The Republican Party lost 7% of the Hispanic vote after the Republican Party signed amnesty into law. They did not increase their percentage of Hispanic votes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, okay.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Is that your multilayered question?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. Yes.<\/p>\n
