CALLER: Hi, Rush. Thank you for taking my call. I\u2019m so thrilled to talk to you, but I\u2019ll make it short \u2019cause I don\u2019t want to take up your time. In the focus group — I didn\u2019t watch the Obama speech. I couldn\u2019t stomach it. But I did watch Hannity, as you said, and watched the focus group.<\/a> There was one gentleman in the back, an elderly man, that said, “We are spending too much and we\u2019re gonna pay the piper,” or something to that effect. And the other people, I couldn\u2019t get over how they voted for Romney yet they liked Obama. I\u2019m like you, I\u2019m really puzzled. But you cleared it up, you really did.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you. I was puzzled, too. I\u2019m not puzzled now. But I have a new source of puzzlement, now. I mean, this clears one thing up, but it clouds a lot of other things.<\/p>\n

CALLER: By the way, bless you, health and happiness to you always. You\u2019re a great man. You made me interested in politics.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you. I appreciate that, thank you so much.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I live in liberal California union town and everyone I deal with makes fun of me for what I believe, my friends, my family, and I\u2019m really so glad to hear you every day. You give me hope.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s hard to live that way, I know. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I know it is.<\/p>\n

RUSH: See, that\u2019s what the Republicans in Washington go through. They\u2019re made fun of and they\u2019re laughed at. Compromising your beliefs so that people won\u2019t laugh at you and make fun of you, that\u2019s the easiest route. Washington is a town that, you know, the Democrats, the liberals run the business side, they run the political side, they run the social side, they run every aspect. And the Republicans in Washington are just like you in San Pedro, laughed at, made fun of, thought of to be nerds and hayseeds, that Bar Refaeli doesn\u2019t want to have anything to do with, unlike the nerd in the Super Bowl commercial. Many of them just decide they don\u2019t want to be laughed at and made fun of anymore. So they become RINOs. It doesn\u2019t happen overnight, but this is one of the explanations for it. Thank you so much for your nice words, Lucy.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Mike, Flint, Michigan. Hello, sir. Great to have you on the program. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. Great to be with you. I just want to say, I love my wife but I also want to say, in addition to constantly campaigning, Democrat politicians create a Flint consciousness in low-information voters that keeps them confused by saying things like they want to promote entrepreneur for the little guy while at the same time demonizing successful entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, now, you say that they are creating a split by keeping them confused.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. They don\u2019t lead. They don\u2019t say what\u2019s right or wrong. They say, we want to help, we want to tolerate everybody, but we don\u2019t tolerate people who don\u2019t believe the way we do. So like you were saying, a lot of the politicians want to be loved, so they try to bend towards them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, I\u2019m just wondering how confused the low-information — I don\u2019t think they\u2019re confused at all. I think they think they understand it. I don\u2019t think they\u2019re confused. You think they should be confused, and they ought to be. I mean, here comes Obama, who runs around and rips entrepreneurs who have been very successful to shreds, and then in the next sentence promotes the concept. He rips entrepreneurs, they\u2019re not paying their fair share, they\u2019re acting against the best interests of the society at large, and then in the next breath he\u2019s telling you how you can become one. <\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think that they end up being confused. I think that they do think there\u2019s a bifurcation. That the evil rich are exactly as Obama described them, but the people who Obama\u2019s talking to, they can become entrepreneurs, they never think they\u2019re gonna become those evil people. They\u2019re not gonna become mean to people. They\u2019re not gonna deny them health care. They wouldn\u2019t deny them a job. So I don\u2019t think they\u2019re confused. I know what you\u2019re saying. I don\u2019t mean to nitpick, but I don\u2019t think that they end up being confused. <\/p>\n

I talk to these low-information people. They think they understand everything. They think they know it all. They think I\u2019m the one that doesn\u2019t know what\u2019s really going on. In fact, I am part of the problem, because, A, I\u2019m a conservative, and, B, they think I\u2019ve been this wildly successful guy that doesn\u2019t understand what life is like for them, all this racism, sexism, bigotry cliche stuff that attaches to conservatism. As I run into these people, they don\u2019t know they\u2019re low-information. It\u2019s like when Romney made his 47% comment, the people he was talking about don\u2019t know that it was them he was talking about. They had to be told that Romney was insulting them. Because most people don\u2019t think of themselves as victims. Well, not true. A lot of people do, but for specific activist reasons. But I appreciate the point and I understand what you mean. I appreciate the call. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. This is a real pleasure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What you\u2019ve been talking about today, I\u2019ve got the perfect example, and that\u2019s Benghazi.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah?<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

CALLER: When Panetta told Obama what was going on, he tells them, “Do what you gotta do,” then he runs and hides<\/a>. He didn\u2019t want any part of that. He didn\u2019t want to make a decision. He just took off and not to be heard from \u2019til the next day in Las Vegas, I guess.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. Exactly. And of course that\u2019s perfectly fine. You are exactly right. Benghazi, a classic, perfect example. So Benghazi is happening and Panetta testifies under oath, “Well, Obama told me and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs to do what was necessary to save lives.” Well, who could oppose that? I mean, that\u2019s wonderful. So Obama says, “Yep, do what you have to do.” <\/p>\n

“Did you hear from Obama the rest of the night?” No, no. Oh, okay. Well, therefore, Obama, he did everything that was called for. He told these people to do whatever they had to do to save lives. And they tried. They tried. And they still had to go to these funerals. It\u2019s a sad thing. And then that video, that video got everybody all worked up. See how that works? You send Susan Rice out there to tell people on six different Sunday shows, “It was the video.” Nobody can find Obama. Doesn\u2019t matter \u2019cause he\u2019s already told people, “Do what you have to do.” But he didn\u2019t want to be tied to what happened, and he still doesn\u2019t. And you go back to the campaign, it\u2019s why we were all pulling our hair out. <\/p>\n

How in the world does he escape accountability for this? He\u2019s the commander-in-chief. Well, we now know. He doesn\u2019t want any accountability. It\u2019s Susan Rice\u2019s problem or Hillary\u2019s problem or now Panetta\u2019s problem, \u2019cause he told \u2019em, “Do what you have to do.” Again, you can\u2019t pull this off if you\u2019re Obama unless you have a totally compliant, slavish media. This Benghazi thing, you couldn\u2019t pull this off without the media. But all of this is like Reagan said, “It\u2019s not what people don\u2019t know that\u2019s the problem. It\u2019s what they know that isn\u2019t true that\u2019s the problem.” And that really is what we are up against. <\/p>\n

The Democrats think the low-information voters aren\u2019t gonna notice any of the oddities or inconsistencies of any of this. And they\u2019re probably right. It\u2019s us. It\u2019s the high-information voters who notice. But we\u2019re outnumbered. Just like the wealthy are outnumbered by the middle class, high-information voters are vastly outnumbered by low-information voters. And the low-information voters don\u2019t even think they are low-information voters. But it\u2019s not what people don\u2019t know. It\u2019s what they know that isn\u2019t true that is the problem.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Here is another classic illustration of what I have been discussing today: Marco Rubio last night issued a truth. He said that Obama has created more debt than George Bush did in two terms. There\u2019s no question it\u2019s true. Bill Maher of HBO tweeted, “Wow, what a shameless liar this Rubio guy is. Obama created more debt than Bush? Well, if you don\u2019t believe in science, why not math, too?” That\u2019s another classic illustration: a low-information TV host who thinks he\u2019s smarter than anybody else in the room.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
