CALLER: Thank you, Rush. Mega dittos from occupied Reagan country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. Listen, before I get to my question, I just want to tell you that ever since the election, I had to quit listening to your wonderful show. Because, unfortunately, you\u2019re so spot on and so accurate that it hurts, and sometimes it\u2019s painful to listen to. Because on the one hand, we\u2019ve got you over here, a beacon of sensibility and hope, but we\u2019re surrounded with darkness all the time, and our side has nothing but wimps in Washington that aren\u2019t gonna help. Once they get reelected, they go back in and play nicey-nice, you know, like Bob Michel Syndrome. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So nothing ever gets done to help us since the days of Reagan. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, Tom, I have a question for you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s very simple. The last thing I want you to do is to stop listening.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m with you! I\u2019m with you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: So what should I do to change? How do I stop being this beacon of hope?<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s just because it hurts to hear.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No. So what should I do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Okay, I got an idea for you. I really do. I think that because you reverberate the feelings, the very strong feelings we have out here, those of us who love America… We know it\u2019s a gift from God. We know that the Greatest Generation fought to give us this great land, and what we have today is not what they fought for. But I would suggest to you, perhaps, maybe have a show — or two or three shows — that have answers or potential solutions. Maybe bring some of the people that only you\u2019ve got the ability to get on, on a national microphone, and either… Maybe break one of your patterns and let us talk directly to a guest, or somebody who\u2019s in power and let \u2019em hear from us instead of just we get \u2019em once every two years when they want to get reelected. Maybe have a solutions challenge or a solutions show.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there\u2019s a problem with that, and that is, I don\u2019t… Jeez. (laughing) If I understand, your idea is to get people in here, to have me break the format by actually having some guests.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely. Have some guests again. Because you know, I love you, Rush, but (garbled).<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s not helping. That\u2019s making me feel even worse. That\u2019s making me feel like I don\u2019t have the answers and I gotta subordinate myself to a bunch of people that you think do. See, I don\u2019t care what anybody else thinks. That\u2019s why I don\u2019t have guests.<\/p>\n

CALLER: — the decision-makers on your show and maybe let us ask them the questions directly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why are they gonna change when they\u2019re here?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Like, you know, “Why in the hell haven\u2019t you fought back? Why are you not standing up against Obamacare? Why are you going on vacation? Why aren\u2019t you calling out Obama on his golf rounds?”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, I get what you\u2019re saying. You don\u2019t want me to interview \u2019em. You want me to savage \u2019em for you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I want you to challenge \u2019em. How about that?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: How about challenge them in your professional way that you can, because we hear you. We know what the problems are, and we echo \u2019em with you. We agree with you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But pointing out the problems all the time and not giving a voice directly at the powers that be… At least ask \u2019em look what are you doing — or what can we do? How can a person, a lone voice out here in occupied California, what can I do, aside from screaming at the radio?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, look, it\u2019s not hard. Obama has to be stopped politically, but there\u2019s no… I don\u2019t know. No I do know! <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, don\u2019t take it personally. All this guy wants to do is have me say to these people what he wishes to say but can\u2019t. So what he thinks is, I put out a call to John Boehner and John Boehner will come on the program and I\u2019m supposed to say, “You suck! Where\u2019s your guts? Why didn\u2019t you stop Obama?” That\u2019s what he wants me to do for him because he doesn\u2019t think Boehner will take his call. That\u2019s all he wants. He doesn\u2019t want me interviewing them and coming up with solutions. He just wants me to give \u2019em what-for. It\u2019s not gonna change anything. You know, why do people honk their horns in a traffic jam? It releases stress. Why do have do road rage? <\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t change anything other than, “Ah, I got that off my chest.” I mean, don\u2019t you get mad you driving along and you see a long line of traffic and you know one person\u2019s caused it? One stupid idiot rubbernecker stopped and caused it, and you would love to get hold of that one idiot and just tell him he\u2019s an idiot and then be done. You\u2019d feel better. That\u2019s all this guy wanted me to do, \u2019cause Boehner… None of these guys are gonna come on here and say, “Ah, you know what? I\u2019m glad you asked me here because now I can tell you what I really believe the solution is.” As though that\u2019s gonna happen. He wants me to waterboard these guys is basically what he wants. He wants me to waterboard Republican leaders on this program, essentially — and with a British accent so that it\u2019s respectable. <\/p>\n

RUSH: There is one reason – I just thought of it. There is one reason to broom the no-guest policy and have some politicians on here as guests. One reason only. That way, they would hear what I\u2019m saying. It may be the only way that they will hear what<\/emphasize> I\u2019m saying, instead of hearing about<\/emphasize> what I\u2019m saying, is to actually have them here or on the other end of the phone line.
