RUSH: Here it is from the Associated Press: “Even without modern-day temptations like fast food or cigarettes, people had clogged arteries some 4,000 years ago, according to the biggest-ever hunt for the condition in mummies. Researchers say that suggests heart disease may be more a natural part of human aging rather than being directly tied to contemporary risk factors like smoking, eating fatty foods and not exercising.<\/p>\n

“CT scans of 137 mummies showed evidence of atherosclerosis, or hardened arteries, in one third of those examined, including those from ancient people believed to have healthy lifestyles. … ‘Heart disease has been stalking mankind for over 4,000 years all over the globe,\u2019 said Dr. Randall Thompson, a cardiologist at Saint Luke\u2019s Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City and the paper\u2019s lead author.”<\/p>\n

Really? You\u2019re kidding! They gotta be making that up. Everybody knows that wasn\u2019t such a thing as heart disease until America, America\u2019s wealth and its lifestyles — sedentary, capitalist success — breeding a bunch of people that don\u2019t have to work hard for their food. They just go to the processed corner in the store; go home and eat it. Folks, this is one of these moments where I want to get serious with you for a minute.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an object lesson here.<\/p>\n

Over the course of my life — and yours, too — it seems like every week we are treated to the latest study about that which will kill us. And it\u2019s all rooted, if you\u2019ll note, in an advanced lifestyle. Now, you go back to the ancient Egyptians. It is theorized that they had a life expectancy of 40 years, which means that they had hardening of the arteries at very young ages compared to those of us today. They had clogged arteries. They had cholesterol. They had all of these things that we have 4,000 years ago.<\/p>\n

Now, some people could look at this and laugh it off, or try to make a joke about it. But for some reason I feel compelled to make a big deal out of this because we are all bombarded, we are barraged every day with all of these lifestyle and behavioral things that are going to kill us, and everybody believes them. I know this is where I run the risk of losing people, but I don\u2019t know how else to say this.<\/p>\n

I know I\u2019ve got you low-information voters out there. I really want you to understand this. I think it\u2019s all part of… It\u2019s not even really a conspiracy. Liberals are just who they are, and they have a natural tendency as part of their ideology to control everybody. They tell you what you can and can\u2019t have, what you should and shouldn\u2019t eat, how much you should and shouldn\u2019t eat, how much you should and shouldn\u2019t exercise, where you should live, what you should and shouldn\u2019t drive.<\/p>\n

They use fear and scaremongering to gain your conformity, and they also employ another unique aspect of the trick, and that is to imply that all of these things that are harmful to your health are relatively new, and they are the result of an American lifestyle which is unhealthy and unproductive and can be tied to or blamed on various characteristics or aspects of freedom. You have too much freedom that allows you to eat what\u2019s not good for you.<\/p>\n

They are there to tell you and they are there to put limits on what you can and can\u2019t eat, as in Mayor Doomberg. It\u2019s silly, the things that he believes in. It\u2019s literally childishly silly. But he\u2019s consumed with this belief that nobody in New York knows what\u2019s good for them, and it doesn\u2019t matter what. It could be soda pop, could be guns, could be food, could be cars, could be the way you smoke. He\u2019s gonna control it all.<\/p>\n

Under the auspices of making your life better, under the auspices of making you healthier, under the auspices of having you live longer! All of it\u2019s always done for your own good. Of course, people eat this stuff up (no pun intended) because everybody wants to live longer. Nobody wants to die, and nobody wants to get sick. It\u2019s the same trick that they use with global warming. The earth has been around, you can argue, hundreds of thousands of years, 10,000 years, billions of years.<\/p>\n

But isn\u2019t it interesting that only now is something abnormal? Only now are things in the world screwed up? Only now! I\u2019ve often wondered in the global warming debate, for example — which is now proven to be a hoax. In the manmade global warming debate, I\u2019ve often wondered, “Who knows what ‘normal\u2019 is? Who has been alive for all of these hundreds of thousands of years to know what ‘normal\u2019 is?<\/p>\n

<\/a>“Who is to say, for example, that the earth warming a couple of degrees is catastrophic? Maybe that\u2019s natural.” Who\u2019s to say that anything bad will come from it, by the way. But we are all prisoners to this, folks, and the overarching thing here is a oppressive, never-ending attempt to control your life by commandeering or taking away from you some of your freedom. Now, let me be clear on something. I don\u2019t believe that everybody involved in telling you not to eat bacon or whatever is a conspiracist.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t believe that there\u2019s some mad scientists trying to control your freedom. I think they\u2019re true believers. I think they\u2019ve been roped in by others, and I think they\u2019re true believers. I think a considerable number of rank-and-file, everyday, ordinary, average American liberals are just nothing more than dupes themselves, true believers. I don\u2019t believe that every liberal is diabolical and is part of some evil conspiracy to deny freedom. But I think the people leading them are.<\/p>\n

I think the people motivating them are. The people teaching them, the people instructing them, the people that are trying to bend and shape their minds? Yeah. I think they know exactly what they\u2019re doing, and they\u2019ve created an army of little liberal robots out there running around repeating all this drivel that they learn. But, seriously, what are we to make of this? I think this is a big deal. Now, I believe in liberty. I believe in freedom. I believe in self-reliance. I believe in rugged individualism.<\/p>\n

I believe nobody has my best interests at heart more than I do. When I was a kid, my parents did. I wasn\u2019t old enough. I wasn\u2019t able to be self-reliant. That\u2019s part of good parenting and all that. But now? I don\u2019t think Barack Obama cares more than I do about what happens to me or Nancy Pelosi or anybody else in Washington. I don\u2019t think anybody cares as much as I do about what happens to me, and I don\u2019t want to turn my life over to them.<\/p>\n

And I don\u2019t want to turn my life over to these idiots at the Center for Science in the Public Interest who are telling me not to eat movie popcorn. Screw them! It\u2019s none of their business what I like to eat, and there\u2019s no law that says it is. They don\u2019t know what they\u2019re talking about. They\u2019re just a bunch of little fanatics. The global warming people are the same way, and what they do is transfer guilt to you. Whatever is wrong, either in your own life or with the country, it\u2019s your fault.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all of our fault.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been living a lifestyle that we either can\u2019t afford or it\u2019s been unhealthy, so we gotta pay the price now. We have come close to “destroying the planet” i.e., climate change. Now we\u2019ve gotta pay the price. We can make amends. We can agree to bigger government telling us what we can\u2019t do in order to save the planet. We will agree to bigger government and mayors telling us what we can\u2019t eat in order to save ourselves, and we will agree to higher taxes, so that people will have the money to tell us what we can\u2019t do in order to improve ourselves.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll give you a little factoid that many of you may not have known. Herodotus, who wrote in 400 BC, said that only the poorest Egyptians ate pigs. That would be bacon. It was considered to be unclean. The upper classes didn\u2019t eat it. The upper classes didn\u2019t eat bacon. Only the upper classes have been mummified. So the ancient Egyptians, the higher class who were mummified, were not allowed to eat this rotgut that would clog your arteries … had clogged arteries. In other words, there\u2019s nothing new. Clogged arteries, heart disease, all these things? There nothing you can do. It\u2019s just there.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s part of the human experience.<\/p>\n

Genetics has a lot to do with it. Herodotus was a Greek historian who visited Egypt. He wrote a book on Egypt. He knew what he was talking about. And the higher class Egyptians were the ones who were mummified. Therefore, they\u2019re the ones we\u2019re discovering that had heart disease. They didn\u2019t eat pig. Which is where bacon comes from. Bacon is said to be, “Oh, God, it\u2019s yuk. That\u2019s the stuff, Rush, that they actually suck out of your veins when you go in for open heart surgery,” it is said. All that grease and stuff, they didn\u2019t eat it. How did their arteries get clogged? Somebody tell me. <\/p>\n

I just am a firm believer, and I will be mocked for this, I\u2019m fully aware. I\u2019m a firm believer that wherever you find a liberal, either a blind-as-a-bat true believer robot, or some upper level echelon bending and shaping and forming and controlling these young liberal minds, you\u2019re gonna find people who have contempt for individual people who don\u2019t think they are able to make the right decisions in their lives and therefore that has to be done for them. You\u2019re not smart enough to know what to eat, what not to eat. You\u2019re not smart enough to know what to drive, what not to drive. You\u2019re not smart enough to know where to live and where not to live. You\u2019re not smart enough to do anything on your own. They have to do it. They have to tell you. They have compassion. They care. <\/p>\n

Republicans don\u2019t care. If you die, Republicans don\u2019t care. Liberals want to save you. But, in order for you to be saved you gotta give them all the power over your life that you will, and you\u2019ve gotta elect bigger government, you gotta pay higher taxes, and you\u2019re gonna give \u2019em the money to do this. I think it\u2019s all hideous. I think it\u2019s all based on hoaxes. One year it\u2019s coffee that\u2019s gonna kill you. Nope, guess what? We found that coffee is actually helpful to Parkinson\u2019s, or whatever it is. Then one year it was oat bran that was gonna kill you. The next year, no, it\u2019s actually good for you. You know the drill. Every month it\u2019s some new medical discovery. And the truth is that people have had clogged arteries and they\u2019ve been getting cholesterol and all that long before all of these American-produced luxuries and food. <\/p>\n

My point is just don\u2019t listen to \u2019em. Live your life the way you want to live it. Enjoy what you like. You only get one life, and there\u2019s no reason to live it in prison. There\u2019s no reason to live a life of constraints placed upon you by other people who really don\u2019t care about you and who really can\u2019t care about you as much as you care about you. It\u2019s not possible. <\/p>\n

Now we\u2019ve got a story, a new drug being developed using the compound found in red wine could help humans live until they\u2019re 150. This is resveratrol. Synthetic versions of resveratrol, which is the ingredient found in red wine, research shows that drugs made from resveratrol could prevent cancer and diabetes, could turn this stuff into medicine that you would take topically or orally. No drugs yet developed to target aging skin, but you could never get diabetes, you could never get cancer, you could never die, and it\u2019s all there in red wine, 150. Well, why not 175? Why do they choose 150 as the year you\u2019re gonna die? But this is exactly what I\u2019m talking about. <\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s just all absurd. Now, I gotta take a brief time-out. Sit tight. Oh, one other thing. Health related, too. News from Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is considering halting beheadings and moving to firing squads. Officials say that the government\u2019s running out of swordsmen to carry out the executions. A joint Saudi committee composed of representatives of the ministries of interior, justice and health, are deliberating the idea of firing squads instead of beheadings because you just can\u2019t find good old-fashioned swordsmen anywhere anymore.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
