RUSH: Get this one, folks, get this. On Joe Scarborough\u2019s show today, Al Sharpton and Mike Barnicle. I mean, there\u2019s a pair. Al Sharpton, Crown Heights, Freddy\u2019s Fashion Mart. Mike Barnicle, plagiarism fame. They\u2019re out there. You know what they\u2019re saying? Opposition to Bloomberg. You know, Bloomberg and his gun control. What is Bloomberg? This guy\u2019s like a Mad Hatter. He\u2019s like a bond villain and he\u2019s got this idea of gun control, and he\u2019s trying to just enforce all kinds of gun control. Here you have Sharpton who knows anti-Semitism when he sees it, and Barnicle, they\u2019re out there, anybody who opposes Bloomberg and his gun control efforts in New York is anti-Jewish. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s why they\u2019re opposing Bloomberg. It has nothing to do with guns, nothing to do with Second Amendment, nothing to do about freedom, the Constitution. No, it\u2019s the typical anybody opposed to Bloomberg is anti-Semitic. <\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, to the audio sound bites. Michael Bloomberg leaves no doubt now who he is and what he\u2019s all about. On Meet the Press yesterday, David Gregory said, “Will you target people, Republicans and Democrats, who don\u2019t support a ban on weapons, an assault weapons ban, who don\u2019t vote for background checks? Will you spend money to target them in 2014, the midterm race?”<\/p>\n

BLOOMBERG: I have a responsibility, and I think you and all of your viewers have responsibilities to try to make this country safer for our families and for each other. And if I can do that by spending some money and taking the NRA from being the only voice to being one of the voices so the public can really understand the issues, then I think my money would be well spent.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RUSH: So, yeah, I\u2019ll spend whatever it takes to get people to do the right thing, even the people that don\u2019t even know that they\u2019re doing the right thing, I\u2019ll do it. Somebody has to make \u2019em do the right thing. So Gregory said, “You\u2019re telling people what they can and can\u2019t do. Why is that government\u2019s job to do that?”<\/p>\n

BLOOMBERG: We\u2019re telling them what science says is in their interests or isn\u2019t in their interests. We allow you to smoke. We just don\u2019t let you smoke where other people have to breathe the smoke that you\u2019re exhaling or comes from your cigarette. The same thing with obesity which, incidentally, is a public interest because we\u2019re gonna spend $5 billion on treating people with obesity in our hospitals in New York City alone this year. But regardless —<\/p>\n

GREGORY: Where\u2019s the line? Where is it too far for government to go?<\/p>\n

BLOOMBERG: I do not think we should ban most things. I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom.<\/p>\n

RUSH: There you have it. If there is any doubt — I don\u2019t think there ever was, but if there was any, “there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom. We allow you to smoke. We just don\u2019t let you smoke where other people have to breathe it, but we allow you to smoke.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
