RUSH: You know, folks, it\u2019s too bad that being able to work at your job without having the government take half of your earnings isn\u2019t a civil right. It\u2019s just too bad that being able to buy whatever size soft drink you want is not a civil right. Just look at all the things they\u2019d have to leave us alone on if we could simply play their game, change the language, and say, “My 32-ounce Pepsi is a civil right!” “I\u2019m only gonna give the government 30% of what I earn. I have a civil right to keep 70% of what I earn!” <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s Scott in Los Angeles. Scott, thank you for calling. It\u2019s great to have you on the EIB Network and Open Line Friday.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thanks, Rush. I\u2019m gonna change the definition of “Good Friday” and say, “A Friday where I can talk to Rush is now considered Good Friday.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: I dig it. I like it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hey, yesterday you spoke, and I\u2019ve been a big fan of this definition of the word “marriage.” I\u2019ve actually got a dictionary open here that says that it\u2019s a man and a woman that joined together to found a family.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How long is that gonna be, by the way? How many years is it gonna be before you go to the dictionary and it doesn\u2019t say that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, these dictionaries, the binders are falling off \u2019em. I\u2019m gonna hang onto \u2019em, but if the liberals get in here and they decide to change the dictionary in here, they\u2019re gonna have to use an eraser or Wite-Out.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s what\u2019s underway, I guarantee you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you were talking yesterday. You said that you wanted to be an Obama — and my fear is that your wish is gonna come true. Because if Obama continues to change this country, we will cease to be Americans, and we will all become Obamas.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I understand your point, but that wasn\u2019t my point — and you know this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I know that wasn\u2019t your point, but I didn\u2019t just think it was funny when you were talking about that yesterday. I\u2019m like, “We are gonna end up as him.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I\u2019m sure a lot of people thought that. It\u2019s why I took some time with it, \u2019cause a lot of people, I\u2019m sure, when they heard me say, “I want to be an Obama,” thought I\u2019d lost my mind and didn\u2019t quite know what I meant. I could see by the look on people\u2019s faces across the glass here that there was rampant confusion. “No! Oh, no! What the hell does this mean?” I was simply illustrating absurdity by being absurd.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (chuckling)<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ll go through it again very quickly here. The gay marriage people say that they want to be married, but marriage is the union of a man and a woman. As Judith Miller just said, from time “immemoriam,” that\u2019s what it\u2019s been. Genesis. It\u2019s in the Bible, folks. That\u2019s what marriage is. Marriage was created by God. It\u2019s had its evolution, it\u2019s gone through its phases, but it\u2019s always stayed a union between a man and a woman. People who don\u2019t want to marry people the opposite sex now say they want to get married, and just because they want to get married they should be allowed to. <\/p>\n

“The definition is wrong.”<\/p>\n

So to illustrate what they\u2019re doing… I try to make things as clear as I can. To illustrate what they\u2019re doing, I said, “I want to be an Obama. The Obamas have more rights than I do. The Obamas haven\u2019t been elected to anything, but, look! They get millions of dollars in government benefits — I mean, millions. They live the lives of royalty. The Obamas are globally admired and don\u2019t have to do anything for it. They just have to have the name. They\u2019re globally admired in a way that I\u2019m not.<\/p>\n

“So my self-esteem is wounded by not being an Obama. (sobbing) I want to be an Obama, and they won\u2019t let me be one, and that isn\u2019t fair. Now my self-esteem is wounded, and I\u2019m hurt. So I want to be considered an Obama — and don\u2019t you dare tell me that I can\u2019t be an Obama just \u2019cause I\u2019m not an Obama! Just because, by definition, I\u2019m not a member of the family? That doesn\u2019t matter to me! I want to be one. So the law has got to change. If I want to be an Obama, my civil rights are being denied. <\/line><\/p>\n

“My economic opportunities are being infringed upon. My ability to be respected and admired all over the world is being damaged by the fact that I am not allowed to be an Obama. So the law\u2019s gotta change. The law has to change so that I can be an Obama. You need to change the definition of what a family is — and don\u2019t tell me that I already have the same legal rights as, say, Michelle. That\u2019s not good enough. I want to feel like an Obama, too. So the law has to be changed so that I am an Obama — and if you think that\u2019s absurd, then you\u2019re a bigot. You are a hater! <\/p>\n

“You are denying me the pursuit of happiness!”<\/p>\n

RUSH: There\u2019s something else, ladies and gentlemen. Preventing me from being an Obama is also denying me love. The Obamas are loved, and we can\u2019t deny anyone love. I mean, I want to be loved just like the Obamas are. But I can\u2019t be because they won\u2019t let me be an Obama. The law has to change to accommodate what I want. It\u2019d make me happy. It\u2019d make me loved. That\u2019s what life\u2019s all about. But alas, I can\u2019t do it — and I\u2019m just a lone guy. <\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know anybody else who wants to be an Obama but me, and I\u2019m not enough to get it done on my own. I\u2019d need a whole movement out there helping me to move that idea along, and I want to become an Obama. You could all be Obamas! Wouldn\u2019t we all like to be loved and admired and rich like that? Wouldn\u2019t it be great if we were all Obamas? Want something and take it.
