RUSH: I don\u2019t know if you\u2019ve heard this or not. Dr. Benjamin Carson. This literally depresses me. I have no other way characterizing this. He\u2019s a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. The medical students graduating class have asked that he be replaced as their commencement speaker. He said (summarized), “Okay, fine. I\u2019ll step aside. It\u2019s their day. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t want to intrude on their day.” But, man. These are students where this guy works, and they don\u2019t want him to be their commencement speaker because of his political beliefs as espoused on TV. Medical students! Not social workers, medical students. To me that\u2019s evidence that… I don\u2019t know what it is. We\u2019re losing the country or what have you. <\/p>\n

RUSH: I still can\u2019t believe that the med students at Johns Hopkins said, “We don\u2019t want Ben Carson here.” You…? (interrupting) It\u2019s over same-sex marriage. Of course. I know he made a comment about same-sex marriage. Of course. I forgot to throw that in. He spoke about same-sex marriage, and he offended them. They don\u2019t want him there. They don\u2019t want him there. Do you understand why I said this is inevitable now, folks? <\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019ll just share, Rush: My four-year-old, Reagan, is in awe that I get to speak to you today. So thank you. You know, it\u2019s been a while. I thought since we\u2019re on the topic of civil rights, we\u2019d dust off the Grooveyard of Forgotten Favorites with the Rush Hawkins Singers and institute a little Civil Rights Division at EIB. It\u2019s a Friday staple from years gone by. Is there any way to play, “Thank the Lord Rush Limbaugh\u2019s On”?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I think, at this juncture of the program, with the discussion as it has unfolded, “Thank the Lord Rush Limbaugh\u2019s On,” by the Rush Hawkins Singers, is exactly what\u2019s called for. <\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s the Rush Hawkins Singers from the Grooveyard of Forgotten Favorites, and Thank the Lord Rush Limbaugh\u2019s On. On MSNBC moments ago, they had a graphic, a headline on the screen: “Dr. Ben Carson Under Fire for Controversial Comments.” All you have to do in America — and I heard him and his same-sex marriage comments. They were offered and delivered in the mildest manner possible, as he says everything, and you would have thought that this guy has just suggested putting people in jail! So the students, the graduating med students don\u2019t want any part of Dr. Ben Carson. Now it\u2019s all over the news. “Dr. Ben Carson Under Fire for Controversial Comments.”<\/p>\n

Doesn\u2019t he have a “civil right” to free speech? <\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, folks, what we are witnessing here is we\u2019re in the midst of mob rule. There was no other way to characterize this. They\u2019re going to ridicule and wear down any person or institution that does not relent. Now, here\u2019s what Dr. Ben Carson said. He was talking about the gay marriage definition, and he said this last night on Fox. He said, “Well, my thoughts are that marriage is between a man and a woman. It\u2019s a well-established, fundamental pillar of society and no group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality…<\/p>\n

“It doesn\u2019t matter what they are. They don\u2019t get to change the definition. So, it\u2019s not something that is against gays, it\u2019s against anybody who wants to come along and change the fundamental definitions of pillars of society. It has significant ramifications,” and he\u2019s not gonna sit there and be silent while people want to come around and change the fundamental definitions of pillars of society. <\/p>\n

He said what Chief Justice Roberts said. Dr. Carson said it\u2019s not something against gays. It\u2019s against anybody who wants to come along and change the fundamental definitions of pillars of society. So now we\u2019ve got mob rule. In the midst of all this talk about “equality,” folks– in the midst of all this talk about the pursuit of happiness and equality — Dr. Benjamin Carson (who is the epitome of grace, by the way) is not allowed to voice his opinion, which is a formally mainstream position, by the way. <\/p>\n

He\u2019s not allowed to do that without being punished. The First Amendment applies to vile, hateful people, but not to a thoughtful, brilliant surgeon. Vile, hateful people can say whatever they want about whoever. The way this happened is he goes on Fox and he says this. Media Matters pulls the quote and sent it out to their trolls. The mainstream media caught up with it, flavored it, shaped it the way they wanted it, and the medical students at Johns Hopkins said, “My God, our professor\u2019s a bigot! We can\u2019t have our commencement speaker be a bigot.” <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, have you heard about the black lawmaker down in Alabama? Joseph Mitchell of Mobile. He sent an e-mail to a constituent. He\u2019s a Jefferson County, Alabama, guy, and in his e-mail he referred to the constituent\u2019s “slaveholding, murdering, adulterous, baby-raping, incestuous kinfolk.” This is an African-American member of the legislature in Alabama, and they\u2019re now saying that he didn\u2019t break any legislative rules when writing that e-mail, referring to a white constituent\u2019s ancestors as incestuous slave owners. <\/p>\n

This is from the Alabama House of Representatives leader. “Republicans House Speaker Mike Hubbard of Auburn said that neither he nor most other legislators share the views of Democrat representative Joseph Mitchell of Mobile. ‘I can\u2019t believe he\u2019s put something like that out, but he\u2019s got his free speech writes and he can write his constituent that all day long.'” He can call his constituent a “slaveholding, murderous, adulterous, baby-raping, incestuous, kinsfolk,” and Republicans will Alabama will defend his First Amendment rights to do that. <\/p>\n

Dr. Ben Carson goes on Fox and says, you don\u2019t get to redefine the definition of a pillar of society, and it doesn\u2019t matter who you are. Barack Obama, by the way, said much the same thing in 2004. “In 2004, Barack Obama stated in a US Senate campaign debate with Alan Keyes that marriage is between one man and one woman, and that he supports civil unions but not gay marriage. He stated that his religion dictated that marriage was defined this way and that when a man and a woman are married, they are performing something before God.” <\/p>\n

“In June of 2006, Senator Obama stated on the Senate floor that marriage was between one man and one woman. He spoke during the debate over a constitutional amendment on marriage and asserted his support for marriage as one man and one woman and his view that debating the issue was merely a distraction from the real issues.” Now, I guarantee you the med students at Johns Hopkins would welcome Obama. So, folks, I\u2019m telling you: We\u2019re in the midst of mob rule now (in this case, led by the trolls at Media Matters), aided and abetted by the so-called mainstream media, the Drive-Bys. <\/p>\n

You\u2019re ridicule and you wear down anyone or any institution that does not relent. Amidst all this talk of equality, Dr. Ben Carson is not allowed to voice his opinion. His opinion is a formally mainstream position, but he can\u2019t articulate that now without being punished. So we\u2019re gonna protect the vile, hateful people out there, but not Ben Carson. As far as Dr. Carson about being removed, replaced, he said, “Well, that\u2019s okay. It\u2019s their day.
