RUSH: Aaron in Washington. Yes, sir. Thank you for calling.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, sir. Rush, it\u2019s such an honor to talk to you. I just wanted to thank you. I wanted to let you know that you got through to me. I was raised in a conservative household and, as a matter of fact, my whole life my dad listened to you. And every day I would get on him, “This is so boring, Dad, why do you listen to this? Why do you listen to this?” And, you know, after high school, I went and joined the Army and I did a couple years in Korea. And when you go to Korea, you can go on tours of the DMZ and actually look across the river and see North Korea. And after seeing the desolation and the emptiness of North Korea with my own eyes, everything I\u2019d ever heard my dad say, everything that I\u2019d ever heard you say, just clicked. And I just want to thank you for that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You are more than welcome. I\u2019m flattered that you would call and tell me this. I really am. So you were in a conservative household, but you got kind of tired of hearing about it, “Dad, what the hell is this? I don\u2019t care, I don\u2019t care,” and you ended up seeing it for yourself, or seeing something that made you think back to what your dad was saying that was correct? <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. When I was in Korea, for a while I got really homesick for anything American. And, you know, I started listening more to talk radio —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: — of course I had to listen to it on the Internet, but I started listening to more talk radio, listening more to you, \u2019cause it reminded me of my family. It reminded me of what I was used to in my home environment, and that comforted me. And listening to you helped get me through that hard period of my life.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, I have to tell you something. A friend of mine at one of the many events in the past that there have been to honor me — ahem — said something similar to what you just said, and it was very moving to me. He said that when he\u2019s traveling abroad, when he gets back home and he hears this program, it finally hits him he\u2019s home. This program makes him feel like he\u2019s home. Not his house, not the city where he lives. Hearing this program made him feel like he was at home. That\u2019s essentially what you\u2019re saying, and I really, really appreciate that.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I appreciate everything you do, sir, very much.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much. What do you do now?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am currently looking for a job, actually, right now.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do you want to do?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, hopefully something in human resources.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, those jobs are plentiful because there are lots of humans, and there\u2019s resources.<\/p>\n

CALLER: (laughing) Yeah, you would think, you know, and it\u2019s a tough time for everybody, so I\u2019m looking, and I\u2019m sure something will work out sometime soon.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It will. Hang in there. You have more control over this than you might think, but there is nothing better than talking to somebody who\u2019s had it confirmed by life experience that what they\u2019ve heard is actually true. But, you know, it\u2019s not a tough time for a lot of people. If you look at the Obamas, Michelle and Barack are traveling a lot, the kids had three different spring breaks in one. Parties, travel, vacation. You should look into that. I mean, there\u2019s a lot of human resources there in the Obama vacation business that you\u2019re paying for. <\/p>\n

But, nevertheless, I appreciate it. I know what he felt like. We\u2019ve all had those things that happen. I mean, I was in Seattle one time. You\u2019re gonna think this is stupid and crazy, and I\u2019m not gonna be able to explain it properly. But there were two examples. One time in Hawaii I happened to see a military flyover, flyby, just like the Super Bowl ones. That made me feel like an American like seldom I have felt, so few things do. But I was standing somewhere near the Seattle airport, might have on the way out of town, mighta been at the airport at the terminal. I saw a FedEx jet taking off, and I felt patriotic, knowing the story of FedEx. Nobody thought it was possible, including the Harvard professor. We all have these things that ground us and make us say, “Yeah, yeah.” And so I\u2019m flattered when somebody thinks it\u2019s this show in their life. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
