CALLER: Hey, Rush. How are you today?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Pretty good, actually, all things considered, doing well.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Absolutely. Well, hey, I thought we\u2019d change directions just a little bit and talk about something a little more exciting than all this junk that\u2019s going on. I wanted to see what your thoughts were on Apple\u2019s big announcements yesterday with OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 and some of the security features even, like the activation lock that they put in now in light of all the other stuff that\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well let me ask you, before I answer the question, how much do you know about it?<\/p>\n

CALLER: How much do I know about it?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. I mean, have you read a lot of blogs? Have you seen any of the betas, any of the software that was released?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: I haven\u2019t seen any of the betas. It\u2019s all from what I watched yesterday live streaming, plus what I\u2019ve read on some of the blogs last night and what came out this morning.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. Well, I\u2019m running both betas. I\u2019m running a beta of the new iOS 7 and I installed the beta of Mavericks on my laptop last night and they\u2019re the first generation betas and they\u2019re filled with bugs and a number of things. I\u2019m still wading through it all, but iOS 7 is a massive change. I think for certain iPhone customers, iOS 7 is gonna cause people to throw their hands up in frustration. Even though the operation is the same, it looks so different. Some of the new features are — I love them. I love every new feature. I love it. I don\u2019t want to be misunderstood here. But I know some people that barely know how to turn the thing on and get lost after that, and they are going to just be pulling their hair out over this. They\u2019re not the majority of users by any stretch of the imagination. <\/p>\n

When it comes to iOS 7, some of the so-called flat design, I understand why they\u2019re doing it. I think some of the home screen icons are a little funky and look a little toyish, but I don\u2019t know if this is what this is gonna end up being. This is just the first beta, and I think this is the reason there are betas. The developers play around with it, found out how tough it\u2019s gonna be to make their apps work with it, feedback will be forthcoming. But overall, the innovation, the level of excitement, Apple having to show massive steps forward because of public demand, media demand, I think they\u2019ve done that. And they have done — as I say, without detailing them here because there\u2019s an NDA, but some of the features are just fabulous. As you know, I\u2019m a Fanboy, and I think it\u2019s all good. I think you\u2019re gonna like it.<\/line><\/p>\n
