His name is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.elbertguillory.com\/\">Elbert Guillory<\/a>, and he is a Republican, and he released a video message to his constituents about why he switched parties from Democrat to Republican.  It\u2019s amazing.  We\u2019ve heard it before in various forms over the course of many years, but with our low-information outreach that is taking place here on the EIB Network, it\u2019s especially timely.<\/p>\n<p>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n<p>Now, Louisiana State Senator Elbert Guillory has released a video message to his constituents about why he switched parties from Democrat to Republican.  Now, the fact that there have been Democrats switch parties is not new.  The fact there have been black Democrats switch parties is not new.  But State Senator Elbert Guillory does it in an historical way and says things that you don\u2019t hear ever, from anyone from the civil rights coalition.  We have three sound bites from this.  The whole thing, if you look at this in the right frame of mind, could be a tear-jerker. <\/p>\n<p>But here are the three sound bites that we have for you.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"585\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/n_YQ8560E1w?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>GUILLORY:  The Democrat Party has created the illusion that their agenda and their policies are what\u2019s best for black people.  Somehow it\u2019s been forgotten that the Republican Party was founded in 1854 as an abolitionist movement with one simple creed: That slavery is a violation of the rights of man. Frederick Douglass called Republicans &#8220;the party of freedom and progress,&#8221; and the first Republican president was Abraham Lincoln, the author of the Emancipation Proclamation.  It was Republicans in Congress who authored the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, giving former slaves citizenship, voting rights, and due process of law.  Democrats, on the other hand, were the party of Jim Crow.  It was Democrats who defended the rights of slave owners.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  All that\u2019s true and all of it\u2019s never said except for the likes of us.  But we\u2019re not black and we\u2019re not former Democrats.  But this man\u2019s elected by African-Americans in his state in Louisiana.  He switched parties, and he\u2019s giving people who venture to his website and look at his video (which, by the way, is on YouTube and has gone viral) a history lesson.  Now, you\u2019ve heard it on this program. You know pretty much all you\u2019re gonna hear from the man. But he is reaching an audience, his voters, who don\u2019t hear this kind of thing and need to hear more of it.<\/p>\n<p>GUILLORY:  At the heart of liberalism is the idea that only a great and powerful big government can be the benefactor of social justice for all Americans.  But the left is only concerned with one thing: Control.  And they disguise this control as charity.  Programs such as welfare, food stamps? These programs aren\u2019t designed to lift black Americans out of poverty! They were always intended as a mechanism for politicians to control the black community.  The idea that blacks &#8212; or anyone, for that matter &#8212; need the government to get ahead in life, is despicable.  Our self-initiative and our self-reliance have been sacrificed in exchange for allegiance to our overseers, who control us by making us dependent on them.<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  Now, that\u2019s not news to you, obviously.  You know this, and you\u2019ve prayed that Democrat voters across the country would someday realize this.  The reason I want you to hear this and the reason I think it\u2019s important is in the current climate, this just isn\u2019t the kind of thing that a Democrat, even a former Democrat, says.  So I think the fact that people like State Senator Elbert Guillory from Louisiana are there and willing to speak at a time like this is hopeful.  That\u2019s why I\u2019m giving a wide audience to his comments.  Here\u2019s the final sample. The whole video presentation he makes is worth it, but here\u2019s the final of the three we have.<\/p>\n<p>GUILLORY:  To be truly free is to be reliant on no one, other than the author of our destiny.  These are the ideas at the core of the Republican Party, and it is why I am a Republican.  So, my brothers and sisters of the American community, please join with me today in abandoning the government plantation and the party of disappointment so that we may all echo the words of one Republican leader who famously said &#8220;Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, we are free at last.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>RUSH:  And that was from Sunday, by the way, State Senator Elbert Guillory from Louisiana.
