RUSH: This is Greg in Louisville. It\u2019s great to have you on the program. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think the purpose of this article today was mainly to drive a wedge between elements of the Republican Party, to get you mad at them and them mad at you, maybe. So I think that was one of the big driving motives behind it. I do think that talk radio and you specifically are mistaken about immigration. I think the Senate bill is a bad bill, but I think we need to —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold it. You think I\u2019m mistaken about immigration?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes. I think talk radio has been — and you specifically, but talk radio in general has been — very hostile to immigration, and I think that\u2019s a mistake. I think immigration is good for the country.<\/p>\n

RUSH: How…? Give me an example where you\u2019ve heard me be “hostile to immigration.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, talking about amnesty, the 2007 reform was pretty much stopped by talk radio. I think we could probably agree on that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, but that wasn\u2019t opposition to “immigration.”<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I think the — the — the — the — the —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I have never once said a word against immigration. I\u2019m all for immigration. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I think it bleeds over into… People characterize we\u2019re just —<\/p>\n

RUSH: No, see? I\u2019m being blamed for your inferences.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well —<\/p>\n

RUSH: It\u2019s really not fair. You are associating an attitude with me that I don\u2019t have, and I have never expressed. I simply think —<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: You favor immigration? You favor more immigration, more tech people coming in? Steve Jobs father was an immigrant, natural… His natural father was an immigrant. Half the Silicon Valley companies were founded by immigrants or children of immigrants. Immigration is a good thing for the country, so I — I — I get the impression that you\u2019re against that, but if you\u2019re not (mumbling), then maybe not. But that\u2019s the impression I get from most of talk radio.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hold it. You think I\u2019m against B-1B visa immigration? I\u2019m all for it! I think we need to open up and let all kinds of more skilled people in, particularly the ones we\u2019re educating.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good. Okay, well, that\u2019s —<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m simply opposed to the law of this country being violated! That\u2019s all. Now, you\u2019re right. This story is about immigration, but I don\u2019t hate these people! I think they do hate me. I don\u2019t hate anybody. I don\u2019t dislike anybody. But, I tell you what: I\u2019m not opposed to immigration at all. You are being really unfair. You are inferring something I\u2019ve never said. You\u2019re going along with the crowd.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: We have the most immigration in the world in this country. Why isn\u2019t that enough? I\u2019m all for legal immigration. I\u2019ve never said a word against legal immigration. Quite telling, isn\u2019t it, that when you simply oppose illegal immigration, you become all these horrible, rotten things: Racist, bigot, all of this. Our immigration system isn\u2019t even “broken.” We have plenty of fine immigration law already on the books. It just isn\u2019t being enforced, and it isn\u2019t being enforced because Washington doesn\u2019t like this law. <\/p>\n

This law doesn\u2019t let in enough of the kind of people the Democrats want — and, increasingly, a number of Republicans want. Canada? Canada has an immigration policy you might want to emulate. They want more skilled and educated immigrants. In fact, that\u2019s all they take. But, see, since nobody\u2019s watching them and they\u2019re not a superpower, nobody really cares. So they are allowed to act in their best interests. <\/p>\n

The United States, as a superpower, in order to be “fair,” must engage in behavior that\u2019s not good for it. That\u2019s how the United States demonstrates that it\u2019s fair, and that\u2019s how the United States demonstrates that it\u2019s nice, and understanding. That\u2019s when the United States does things not in its best interests. But when the United States of America does things in its best interests, it is hated. I\u2019m sorry, that just ticks me off. It\u2019s illogical, and, furthermore, it\u2019s psychological. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
