\"Listen<\/a><\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, I\u2019m listening to a little bit of Obama\u2019s speech during the obscene profit time-out. It\u2019s embarrassing. To anybody that\u2019s been paying attention for 4-1\/2 years, it\u2019s embarrassing. I don\u2019t know how else to describe it. But for people that hadn\u2019t been paying attention — for low-information people<\/a> — Obama sounds like somebody that thinks we need to fix the economy, that people are hurting.<\/p>\n

He just said, for example, “endless posturing and phony scandals will not help.” <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Now, most people hearing that will think, “Nobody\u2019s gonna buy this.” But now that you know of the Limbaugh Theorem<\/a>, you are fully aware that practically everybody in this audience watching him is buying every word of this. They don\u2019t see him as responsible for any of this, folks. One of the reasons is the Republicans have not made the case. It does take an opposition party, particularly when you have a media slavishly devoted to the president. <\/p>\n

It does require an opposition party.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t have one. <\/p>\n

We don\u2019t have a party that engages in regular, ideological, or even political pushback. The Republican Party is doing everything it can to be not disliked. They\u2019re pursuing a double negative, actually. But he\u2019s out talking about this as though he\u2019s campaigning for office in 2008. “It\u2019s just time somebody gets serious about this,” he says, and he\u2019s describing how the economy works in a philosophical, strategic way. <\/p>\n

People get jobs, they get health care, and get raises, and so forth — and this has got start happening in America. We\u2019ve gotta start “investing” in one another. We gotta all start working together. So it\u2019s all this feel-good stuff — and these poor, clueless Americans are sitting there applauding. It\u2019s not robust applause, by the way. I, frankly, do not know how you can sit through a speech like this and not say to yourself, “I\u2019ve been hearing this for five years.” <\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know how you can sit through a speech like this and not say, “Wait a minute, bud. You\u2019ve been president for five years. What have you done about this?” I don\u2019t know how that can happen, but it is.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, ladies and gentlemen, I know that Cookie is monitoring the Obama speech and is in the process of preparing audio sound bites. But during the top of the hour, I just heard Obama himself articulate the Limbaugh Theorem! (He didn\u2019t use those words, of course.) He\u2019s out there in Galesville, Illinois, and he\u2019s talking about the economy and how we\u2019ve gotta get things rolling again finally, and he said, “Washington has taken its eye off the ball, and it has to stop.” <\/p>\n

He\u2019s not in Washington, you see? <\/p>\n

He has nothing to do with what is happening in Washington! <\/p>\n

Obama has nothing to do with what\u2019s gone on in Washington.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

But Washington has taken its eye off the ball. Washington hasn\u2019t been paying any attention to the economy, and it\u2019s gotta stop. Washington has been focusing on the IRS. Washington has been focusing on Benghazi. Washington\u2019s been focusing on Trayvon Martin. Washington\u2019s been focusing on all of these things, and it\u2019s gotta stop. Washington\u2019s got to start caring about you again, is what he said. (laughing)<\/p>\n

Oh, folks, it\u2019s just amazing. It\u2019s the Limbaugh Theorem right out of his mouth. “Washington has taken its eye off the ball, and it has to stop.” Washington has not been paying enough attention to the economy. Washington has been spending all its time on all of these things that don\u2019t really matter to people, and it\u2019s gotta stop. Apparently, President Obama also is uttering profundities today. Do you know what a profundity is? <\/p>\n

A profundity is when you say something profound, like me and the things I say. Well, apparently Obama uttered a profundity today that is being tweeted and retweeted all over the place, and it is this: (impression) “Lincoln was all about building stuff.” He was talking about Abe Lincoln, and he said that Lincoln was known for building stuff. Lincoln was all about building stuff. I guess he\u2019s trying to compare… I don\u2019t know the context. <\/p>\n

Apparently he\u2019s trying to equate himself with Lincoln and they\u2019re gonna start building stuff now, once he can get “Washington” to focus and get its eye back on the ball. See, he\u2019s in Galesville, Illinois. He\u2019s not in Washington. He\u2019s in Galesville, Illinois. He\u2019s talking about the economy, and Washington hasn\u2019t been working hard enough on this, and it\u2019s time they did — and these people, you should see them. They\u2019re just nodding their heads, glassy eyed and applauding when appropriate and so forth. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s scary. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: We have a couple of sound bites from Obama, as he\u2019s out in Galesville, Illinois, blaming Washington for paying not enough attention to the economy. We\u2019ve actually got one, two, three, four, five, six sound bites here. We\u2019ll get the last two that I want to play for you right now. This is Obama talking about his vision for rebuilding the economy.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

OBAMA: With this endless parade of distractions and political posturing and phony scandals, Washington\u2019s taken its eye off the ball. And I\u2019m here to say this needs to stop. There are Republicans in Congress right now who privately agree with me on a lot of the ideas I\u2019ll be proposing. I know because they\u2019ve said so. But they worry they\u2019ll face swift political retaliation for cooperating with me.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, jeez. Folks, I can\u2019t react to this without… there\u2019s something pathologically wrong here. In the first place, “Washington has taken its eye off the ball, and I\u2019m here to say this needs to stop.” Now, I mentioned, I told you I heard that bite, I heard him say it live. He is Washington! This is the Limbaugh Theorem. He\u2019s articulating it himself. It\u2019s coming out of his own mouth. He\u2019s out there in Illinois claiming Washington hasn\u2019t been paying enough attention to the economy. They\u2019ve been looking at the IRS. They\u2019ve been looking at Benghazi. They have been looking into Obamacare, and they haven\u2019t been working on the economy, and (imitation) “I\u2019m here in Illinois to make sure that they refocus in Washington,” as though he has had nothing to do with it. <\/p>\n

This is it. This is how he does it, folks, with the low-information voters. This is how he maintains his lack of attachment to his own policies. But then this business that “there are Republicans in Congress right now who privately agree with me on many of the ideas that I\u2019ll be proposing. How do I know? They\u2019ve told me. But they worry they\u2019ll face swift political retaliation for cooperating with me.” It\u2019s this straw dog, see. There are these Republicans that really want me to do what I want to do, but they\u2019re afraid of people like me, obviously. Now, my observation is that there are plenty of Republicans who are already publicly agreeing with Obama. John McCain comes to mind. <\/p>\n

There are a number of Republicans who are very publicly saying things that are very much the same as Obama wants when it comes to immigration, when it comes to amnesty, when it comes to what the Democrats think the Republicans need to do to reorganize their party. But here he\u2019s telling these people, “There are a lot of Republicans that really want to agree with me but they\u2019re afraid to say so publicly.” Now, the fact is that there\u2019s no way, even though you and I know this is total BS, how do you prove it? Are there gonna be Republicans, “Wait a minute, he\u2019s talking about me, and that isn\u2019t true”? No. <\/line><\/p>\n

This is something he just gets away with saying. “There are plenty of Republicans who agree with me. But they are afraid to say so.” Well, if they\u2019re afraid to say so, they can\u2019t confirm it, so he just gets to say there are plenty of Republicans who agree with me. And where that leads is that his audience that hears this gets even angrier at Republicans. ‘Cause they won\u2019t publicly help Obama, even though they tell him they agree with him. This is pathological. Maybe brilliant politics, it\u2019s pathological. Finally, here is Obama\u2019s vision for the middle class. An economy that grows from the middle.<\/p>\n

OBAMA: A better bargain for the middle class and the folks who are working to get into the middle class, an economy that grows from the middle-out, not the top down, that\u2019s where I will focus my energies. Not just for the next few months, but for the remainder of my presidency. These are the plans that I\u2019ll lay out across this country. What makes us special, it\u2019s not the ability to generate incredible wealth for the few. It\u2019s our ability to give everything a chance to pursue their own true measure of happiness.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Folks, we\u2019re listening to the wrecking ball who has already torn down a bunch of buildings, tell us how he\u2019s building news cities. It\u2019s pathological. There is no building from the middle-out. There is no growing the economy from the middle-out. When you try that, you get Detroit. It\u2019s never worked. I mean, there\u2019s not even a formula for it. It\u2019s just a bunch of words designed to sound good to a bunch of ignoramus low-information people who don\u2019t pay enough attention to be fully informed about what\u2019s going on and have been so woefully ineptly educated on economics that it all sounds good, but it\u2019s meaningless. <\/p>\n

“What makes us special has never been our ability to generate incredible wealth for the few.” What\u2019s made this country special, he wouldn\u2019t even know. He has a profound structural disagreement, folks, with the things that have made this country great. The things that have made this country great are things that irritate him about this country, and those are the things he\u2019s trying to change. He is shrinking the economy, the private sector, and with it he is shrinking opportunity for everyone. But here he is talking about how he\u2019s gonna spend the rest of his administration making sure that everybody has a chance to pursue their true measure of happiness. Into year five and people are still buying this. Frustrating.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, so Obama wants help the middle class. Would the Keystone pipeline help the middle class? Would stopping the war on coal help the middle class? Does amnesty for 11 million new low skilled workers help the middle class? Obama\u2019s not about helping the middle class.
