CALLER: Hi, Rush. It\u2019s a pleasure to talk to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I just wanted to make a point. Do you remember when Tammy Wynette came out with the song Stand By Your Man, and the left went nuts over it? They made fun of her, drug it through the streets. It was awful. I think that should be the new Democratic theme song, don\u2019t you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, wait a minute now. Here\u2019s what I remember. In the \u201992 presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton somewhere said, “Look, I\u2019m not some Tammy Wynette standing by my man baking cookies, here.” Oh, yes, you were. (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, she was.<\/p>\n

RUSH: As it turned out, oh, yes, you were.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And you should change your bumper music to Tammy Wynette\u2019s Stand by Your Man.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Stand by Your Man. Yeah, theme songs are —<\/p>\n

CALLER: May I make one other quick, quick point?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Uh, that\u2019s right. Go ahead.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Quick. When I lived in California, I was cleaning houses, two to three houses a day. I was a hard-core liberal. I went to work for a young lady that had two children by two different fathers and she was on welfare, and she asked me to clean her house. I came home and it turned around my whole thinking.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute. Wait a minute. You were the one cleaning houses?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You went to work for a —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I was cleaning two to three houses a day.<\/p>\n

RUSH: — young woman had two children by two different fathers, she was on welfare, and she had enough money to pay you to clean her house?<\/p>\n

CALLER: She also had an air-conditioned apartment, and I had a small mobile home cooled by a swamp cooler.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, my, I hate those. Oh, my.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They\u2019re awful.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You ever had a swamp cooler? Oh, that is bad.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, they\u2019re terrible.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh, my. I am sorry for you. I feel so bad just thinking about that for you. I am so sorry.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: The actual Hillary quote is, “I\u2019m not sitting here, some little woman standing by my man, like Tammy Wynette.” That was 1992. It was Hillary and Bill in a Steve Kroft interview. Kroft said, “I think most Americans would agree that it\u2019s very admirable that you\u2019ve stayed together — that you\u2019ve worked your problems out and that you\u2019ve seemed to reach some sort of understanding and arrangement.”<\/line><\/p>\n

Clinton said (impression), “Hey, hey, wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, you\u2019re looking at two people that love each other here. I mean, it\u2019s not some arrangement. What the hell are you talking about, Kroft? I\u2019d never agree to this show if you\u2019re gonna say that. This is not some arrangement, not some understanding. It\u2019s a marriage. It\u2019s marriage. It\u2019s a very, very different thing than an arrangement. What the hell you talking about?” And Hillary said, “You know, I\u2019m not sitting here, some little woman standing by my man, like Tammy Wynette.” Oh, yes, you were. That\u2019s the whole point. That\u2019s what she did, and that\u2019s what she advised Huma to do, and the advice to Huma might have been a little self-serving for Hillary.<\/p>\n

I mean, after all, here you\u2019ve got Hillary, she stood by Bill, Bill goes on to great things and she gets to participate and maybe even try to take over. What woulda happened if Huma woulda kicked Weiner to the curb? Well, I don\u2019t know, it\u2019s interesting. She spends more time with Hillary than she does with Weiner. She\u2019s Hillary\u2019s body woman. I mean, she\u2019s everywhere. I mean, before they got married, after they got married, Huma and Weiner. Huma was everywhere. But it\u2019s relevant to point out here, by the way, folks, things are what they are. Huma is a Muslim. In that regard Weiner ought to be able to get away with anything. (interruption) Pardon me? Well, Muslim women don\u2019t have any power, right? Muslim women are beheaded, stoned, whatever, if they drive, have affairs. In certain countries Muslim women, if they\u2019re raped, they are killed. It\u2019s their fault. Folks, there\u2019s a lot of dynamics here that none of us really understand, but just on the surface.<\/p>\n

So here\u2019s Hillary, who everybody in the media says is mentoring Huma, and part of the mentoring would be, “You stand by the guy. You stick with the guy, that\u2019s the only way to pull this off. A divorce in politics is not gonna help anybody. You hang in there. You be tough.” Okay, so that\u2019s what Huma does. She did it very publicly. What if Huma had said, “You know, I don\u2019t need any of this. I don\u2019t like this guy, this guy\u2019s sick, I don\u2019t want to be any part of this, I\u2019m outta here.” It wouldn\u2019ta looked good for Hillary, number one. There would have been comments. And then I don\u2019t know what it woulda done to Huma, if it woulda helped or hurt or not, within the leftist social structure. But it\u2019s interesting. We have a couple of what I would call competing sound bites on this.<\/p>\n

First we have a montage of Drive-Bys heaping praise on Huma. She\u2019s smart. She\u2019s sophisticated. She\u2019s intelligent. I don\u2019t know. The hypocrisy of this. I mean, these are the people that conduct this claim that Republicans have no respect for women, that Republicans are the ones conducting a War on Women. And these are feminists, and feminism teaches, you don\u2019t need a relationship to be happy. You don\u2019t need a man to be happy. Your life shouldn\u2019t orient around a man. A man shouldn\u2019t be the most important thing in your life. That\u2019s letting the sisterhood down.<\/p>\n

You need to be independent. You need to be your own person. You need to be your own boss. I mean, that\u2019s what feminism was, radical feminism or otherwise. So here\u2019s Huma doing what she did, and there\u2019s been a real backlash. I mean, the media story\u2019s all over the place, there\u2019s real anger at Huma because she didn\u2019t just stand up for the guy, she went out and basically not endorsed it, but she made it plain she knew what was going on and didn\u2019t care. She loves the guy, and a lot of people, “How can that be?” So here\u2019s this media montage, and it\u2019s always fascinating to me to listen to who the left thinks are the smart people.<\/p>\n

CHRIS CUOMO: Those who know her are moved greatly by her sense of self-respect.<\/p>\n

JEFF GARDERE: This is a woman who\u2019s very, very smart.<\/p>\n

CHRIS SMITH: She is very smart.<\/p>\n

EMILY TISCH SUSSMAN: She is a smart woman.<\/p>\n

PAUL BEGALA: She\u2019s strong. She\u2019s smart.<\/p>\n

DANA BASH: Incredible politically sophisticated.<\/p>\n

CHARLES RANGEL: A very delicate, sophisticated person.<\/p>\n

JOHN AVLON: She\u2019s such an intelligent person.<\/p>\n

KIMBERLY CUTTER: We all respect her because she\u2019s intelligent.<\/p>\n

SHANNON BREAM: A very accomplished, very educated, very sophisticated woman.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Isn\u2019t this amazing, those who know her are moved greatly by her sense of self-respect? Does anything about Carlos Danger strike you as sophisticated? This is what I don\u2019t get. Does anything about Carlos Danger strike you as smart, savvy, politically sophisticated? Now, I\u2019ll tell you this. If Huma was the wife of a conservative from flyover country, would any of these people call her intelligent? If Huma were married to a conservative, would they describe her as politically sophisticated and very smart and very accomplished? So there\u2019s that. Then we go to CBS This Morning show, the cohost Norah O\u2019Donnell. This is too good. Norah O\u2019Donnell is surprised that even some liberal Democrats are concerned about this. Usually liberal Democrats would be fine with all this. Usually they wouldn\u2019t care. They\u2019re not concerned about Weiner\u2019s behavior. That\u2019s fine. In this case, even liberal Democrats are wondering about it, and this is in stark contrast with the montage that you just heard.<\/p>\n

O\u2019DONNELL: A friend of Huma is quoted in the Wall Street Journal and a couple of other places this morning as saying that she actually knew about this last fall, before he announced for mayor. That she was furious about it at the time. That she considered leaving him. That she made the decision to stay in the marriage because of their son. And as a result of that, there are a lot of questions this morning not about Anthony Weiner\u2019s lewd, raunchy, disgusting behavior, but about Huma Abedin and standing by him, amongst a lot of liberal Democrats.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: What liberal Democrats? We just heard a montage of liberal Democrats — I\u2019ll tell you who they were. Chris Cuomo, who said, “Those who know her are moved greatly by her sense of self-respect.” Then somebody by the name of Jeff Gardere, a clinical psychologist. He said, “This is a woman who\u2019s very, very smart.” Really? The next one was Chris Smith of New York Magazine who said, “Yeah, she\u2019s very smart.” And then there was Democrat strategerist Emily Tisch Sussman. “She\u2019s a smart woman.” And then The Forehead, Paul Begala, said, “She\u2019s strong, she\u2019s smart.” Then Dana Bash, CNN, “She\u2019s incredibly politically sophisticated.” And then Charlie Rangel, “She\u2019s a very delicate and sophisticated person.” And then Kimberly Cutter and then Shannon Bream wrapped it up.<\/p>\n

So they all thought she\u2019s incredibly smart, incredibly filled with self-respect, politically sophisticated. And then Norah O\u2019Donnell, “Yeah, liberal Democrats are wondering why Huma is standing by Weiner,” and one of the reasons, of course, is obviously Hillary.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

Here is Donna in Frederick, Maryland. I\u2019m glad you waited. It\u2019s great to have you on the program. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, Rush. It\u2019s my pleasure. One of the common things I\u2019m noticing with respect to morality in this country is liberal men especially, say, “The political upper class types are arrogant,” and they think it\u2019s okay to behave like Mr. Weiner and people like that. They think that they can promote that as acceptable, that kind of behavior. They\u2019re hoping they\u2019ll brainwash us with their propaganda. <\/p>\n

But, sadly, the other class that\u2019s hit so hard with this is the ignorant lower class who were, you know, “inspired,” shall I say, by people who don\u2019t behave in a moral way, to have children and then run off and leave the woman fending for herself. So, you know, this has hurt us in so many areas and so many demographics. But the real suffering here is the American family, and the middle class is struggling to do its part to keep things afloat and keep morality in check.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It isn\u2019t gonna change any time soon because these — and you\u2019re right. It\u2019s the Ted Kennedys and the Bill Clintons and the Weiners. Not only do they get away with it, they\u2019re celebrated when they get away with it. They are praised when they get away with it. Ted Kennedy? Do we need to remind everybody what he got away with? Bill Clinton repeatedly, too, and these people are put on pedestals. <\/p>\n

They are men that we are told we should admire and respect. There is no price paid for what you\u2019re calling immorality. The Kennedy lifestyle has been adopted by the entire inner city. The Kennedy lifestyle is something that is looked upon favorably by the elites throughout our culture, both political and social. But they never pay a price for it. I mean, Clinton lost his law license. Big deal. That was the extent of it. <\/p>\n

There\u2019s a double standard. The reason the Democrats get away with it is that they never make the case for morality. When somebody starts talking about family values, what do they do? They laugh at it, they mock it, and then they go live their mockery. And they\u2019re held up as champions. They\u2019re praised for getting away with stuff that irritates us. That\u2019s why they\u2019re heroes. They\u2019re praised for getting away with stuff that irritates you, Donna. <\/p>\n

They\u2019re praised because they are able to win by doing things that irritate you, that you can\u2019t do. So there\u2019s no concern for morality in that group. As such, to the extent that they\u2019re role models — and they are. I mean, they do inspire other kind of behavior. Other people do pay a price for it, because other people are not able to get away with it. They may get away with it, but their lives are not enhanced by it. <\/p>\n

Bill Clinton\u2019s life was enhanced by it. Ted Kennedy\u2019s life was enhanced by it. But others who try to follow in their footsteps usually, even though they might get away with it within a certain realm of definition, their lives are not improved. These guys, their lives actually get better. They get richer. They are put on a even higher pedestal. They\u2019re given even more power — and while they\u2019re doing this, they are said to be the greatest champions of women. <\/p>\n
