RUSH: Did you hear what Obama said moments ago in the White House? He said, “Ho Chi Minh,” who was the butcher of North Vietnam, for you low-information voters. He was the enemy in North Vietnam. Obama said Ho Chi Minh was inspired by our Founding Fathers. He was just trying to be nice to the Vietnamese guy that was in the office. He was just trying to be nice.<\/p>\n

Well, I know Obama does not believe that. I\u2019m positive. Ho Chi Minh inspired by the Founding Fathers? Obama\u2019s trying to reverse what the Founding Fathers did! Ho Chi Minh was, too. I mean, there\u2019s no way. Ho Chi Minh inspired by the Founding Fathers? Obama can\u2019t possibly really think that, and he certainly doesn\u2019t mean it as a compliment.<\/p>\n

He doesn\u2019t like the Founding Fathers! The Founding Fathers were a bunch of rich white racists, to the American left. Come on, let\u2019s be honest. That\u2019s what they think. Maybe, Obama meant that Ho Chi Minh owned slaves, I don\u2019t know, but he certainly was not complimenting them. You know, opposing our Founding Fathers, that\u2019d be something to get you in tight with Obama.<\/p>\n

RUSH: This has become mildly controversial this afternoon. In Washington at the White House, after meeting with President Truong Tan Sang of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Obama spoke with reports about the meeting.<\/p>\n

Here is a portion of what he said…<\/p>\n

OBAMA: President Sang, uhh, shared with me a copy of the letter sent by, uhhh, Ho Chi Minh, uh, to Harry Truman. And we discussed the fact that Ho Chi Minh was actually inspired by uh, the US Declaration of Independence and Constitution and the words of Thomas Jefferson. Uh, Ho Chi Minh talks about his interest in cooperation with the United States, and President Sang, uh, indicated that, uh, uh, even if it\u2019s 67 years later, uh, it\u2019s good that we\u2019re still making progress.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now (sigh), I\u2019m gonna have to parse this, because, as is the case with much of what Obama says, there are grains of accuracy in it. But the intent of what Obama said here is outrageous, folks. It happens to be true that Ho Chi Minh actually did once cite Thomas Jefferson and the Declaration of Independence. He did this at the end of World War II in 1945. That was when Ho Chi Minh was, in effect, declaring a war of independence on the French.<\/p>\n

But this is nothing new from communist dictators.<\/p>\n

Communist dictators have often cited such people. They\u2019ll lie about anything to advance their cause. They\u2019ll lie about anything to make people think that they are what they\u2019re not. Every dictator starts out as the greatest freedom fighter there\u2019s ever been! Every dictator starts out as somebody who\u2019s gonna liberate his people from tyranny and from bondage, and they all cite the great thinkers and the great minds of freedom and liberty.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all part of the camouflage.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all part of the lie.<\/p>\n

Ho Chi Minh was no more like Thomas Jefferson, Ho Chi Minh no more was interested in the Declaration of Independence for his people… It served his purposes as he sought independence from the French, but no interest in any of that in terms of how he was gonna run Vietnam. Obama knows that. (impression) “Ho Chi Minh, he was actually inspired, Declaration of Independence and Constitution!”<\/p>\n

Well, Obama wasn\u2019t. That\u2019s one of the problems.<\/p>\n

(interruption)<\/p>\n

What, do you think I\u2019ve stepped in it there? He wasn\u2019t! You go back and look. We have played audio interviews of Obama from the early 2000s. He clearly has a problem with the founding of this country, in large part because of race. He\u2019s not enamored by the Constitution. Why do you think he\u2019s trying to transform this country? Why do you think he\u2019s trying to turn it upside down? He does not like the way it was founded.<\/p>\n

It was unjust and immoral.<\/p>\n

So citing Ho Chi Minh, he\u2019s just kissing butt with the Vietnamese guy here. That\u2019s all that\u2019s happening here, and when he goes out and says, “Ho Chi Minh talks about his interest and cooperation with the US,” what cooperation with the US was there ever from Ho Chi Minh? He might have lied about wanting to cooperate with the US in 1947 or 1948. He might have lied about it to convince John Kennedy that he wasn\u2019t gonna be a communist. Who knows?<\/p>\n

But what did Ho Chi Minh do?<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t care what Ho Chi Minh said.<\/p>\n

The fact that we\u2019re even having to sit here, that I\u2019m even having to sit here and take the time… No, I guess this makes sense because it\u2019s a long time ago for a lot of people. Ho Chi Minh was a butcher! Ho Chi Minh and Pol Pot, they come out of the same school. They\u2019re butchers. They\u2019re dictators. They\u2019re bloodthirsty. Interested in cooperation with the United States? Yeah, insofar as he can fool whoever was running the United States at the time into thinking he wasn\u2019t an enemy and need not be opposed.<\/p>\n

(Obama impression) “Uh, Ho Chi Minh talks about his interest in cooperation with the United States, and President Sang, uh, indicated that, uh, uh, even if it\u2019s 67 years later, uh, it\u2019s good that we\u2019re still making progress.” What a bunch of hokum! So he\u2019s got this little Vietnamese guy there. It\u2019s one of these meetings he probably didn\u2019t want to take. The Vietnamese guy shows up and Obama says, “Okay, I\u2019ll have a meeting, here. Here you go! I\u2019ll say some nice things about of your buddy Ho Chi Minh and we\u2019ll move on.”<\/p>\n

In the process, Obama comes out and says something that\u2019s gonna profoundly irritate the Vietnam-era war veterans.<\/p>\n
