RUSH: Do you remember, I guess it was about three weeks or a month ago the subject of Detroit and what had happened to Detroit came up? I had read a book entitled Devil\u2019s Night and Other True Tales of Detroit<\/a> that was published back in the early Nineties. It was by Zev Chafets, the author of a biography of me called An Army of One. The book had a somewhat markedly different take on Detroit than just chalk it up to unions and liberalism and the Democrat Party. <\/p>\n

Clearly those are factors, but Zev dealt really head on with the racial component. And apparently there was so much interest reignited in the book that the publisher decided to bring it back and reprint it, and that has happened. I think it is available on September the 9th, but you can get it now. You can preorder it as an e-book. I think that\u2019s how it\u2019s going to be released. It\u2019s paperback or e-book. I\u2019m not sure. I think e-book. <\/p>\n

I know kindle, iBooks, Barnes & Noble, Nook, what have you. It\u2019s called Devil\u2019s Night and Other True Tales of Detroit. It\u2019s a fascinating book, and it\u2019s highly relevant in understanding today what happened to Detroit and why it\u2019s in its current circumstances. Again, it\u2019s titled Devil\u2019s Night and Other True Tales of Detroit by Zev Chafets<\/a>. This has not happened in a long time, that a book has been brought back from dormancy status like this. <\/p>\n

But there was so much demand for it, there were so many people who tried to buy it and couldn\u2019t. I don\u2019t even think there was a mechanism for buying it back then because nobody knew it was going to be reprinted. But they made the decision somehow. I mean, this happened lickety-split. This doesn\u2019t happen this fast, even when they decide to reprint. It helps to go the e-book version. <\/p>\n

But if you were listening back then and were fascinated and you wanted to read the book, it really is a fascinating story about Coleman Young and the white flight to the suburbs and how Young decided to do battle with them rather than make peace and bring them back. Zev doesn\u2019t shy away from the racial component of what happened. In addition to all the other things, the place was run by liberal Democrats. <\/p>\n

I mean, the last Republican mayor of Detroit was 1957, for example. So I wanted to let you know that your massive interest in this caused the publisher to reprint it, and I know it\u2019s available as an e-book at Amazon Kindle<\/a>, iTunes, iBooks and Barnes & Noble. I think it\u2019s probably Barnes and Noble too. I don\u2019t know (Zev told me, I just don\u2019t remember) if it\u2019s going to be a paperback as well.<\/p>\n
