CALLER: Hi, Rush. Dittos from a longtime listener. I started listening to you the first week you were on WLS out of Chicago, so it\u2019s been a long time.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Thank you very much. That\u2019s like 23 big, exciting years.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It has been a long time, and it\u2019s been awesome. Not that I agree with you 99.9% of the time, but almost. I just wanted you to know I thought I could provide a little insight in my humble way of why your book is taking off. I have three children. They change from my oldest being gifted to my youngest having Down syndrome. My son\u2019s 14. I have been searching for the last 10 years for children\u2019s books that teach the accurate account of US and world history in an interesting manner. It\u2019s impossible to find. No one\u2019s doing it. I have asked people at every bookstore I go to. I go online, have done hours of searches. I found one book something called George Washington\u2019s Socks and it was a mystery where the kids went back in time to get, you know, like in a time warp. But that\u2019s it. There\u2019s nothing out there. It\u2019s sad.<\/p>\n

RUSH: It is. But it needs to be fixed. This is something that I and everybody else I know have been lamenting what\u2019s happened to public education. Well, not just public, but education in general from kindergarten on up particularly about American history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

CALLER: Right.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Once the multiculturalists got hold of the curriculum, they were able to twist the founding of this country into the exact opposite of what happened, and there isn\u2019t any truthful historical record unless you can go back and find some textbooks that are 25 years old.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, I have a hoard of books that I\u2019ve been keeping since before I got married and had children, so in case I was never allowed to find these books again, I would have them. In fact, I remember learning about the first Thanksgiving, and when our teacher in high school was discussing it, they actually brought up how when they first came to America, they split up the plots equally, and I even said, “That\u2019s socialism. That\u2019s not right. I mean, that\u2019s not fair. If I work twice as hard, why would I not get my share?” And the teacher told me that that was greedy, and that\u2019s not the way you have to play in teamwork.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I know this happens and it\u2019s been an abject direct contradiction of the historical record — and the historical record, William Bradford wrote it. This is not anybody\u2019s opinion. What happened, he documented. They tried socialism because they thought it would be fair. They tried it for all the reasons liberals advocate it today, and it didn\u2019t work, and they only really began to prosper when they got rid of it. But Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims is about much more than just the real Thanksgiving. It\u2019s about the whole Pilgrim experience. But really, Melissa, thank you, because I appreciate your comment. The book is taking off for your reason and a host of others, which are all good. <\/line><\/p>\n

Well, they\u2019re problematic, but they\u2019re good in that we\u2019re addressing them.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s great. Melissa, Milwaukee, said, “It\u2019s about time somebody did this \u2019cause it\u2019s impossible to find histories that aren\u2019t skewed to the left or worse.” Rush Revere and the Pilgrims starts a reversal.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Folks, you\u2019ve done it again. You\u2019ve put us back to number one in Barnes & Noble in the pre-orders. We\u2019ve been number one on Amazon pre-orders. The book doesn\u2019t come out \u2019til October 29th, and it\u2019s number one. Well, at Amazon, it\u2019s number one everything — pre-orders, sales, whatever — and the same thing at Barnes & Noble. Folks, we\u2019re so proud of this, and we\u2019ve had a couple of phone calls today from people who hungered for this.<\/p>\n

We have another one on hold about how impossible it is to buy books for young people that tell the truth about American history. It\u2019s been fun. It\u2019s such a fun, interesting, creative way to be able to bring the truth of this country to young people, and it\u2019s being denied them. It\u2019s being denied them in school, it\u2019s being denied them on the retail level when you go try to find a book on something as straightforward as the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s straightforward: The Pilgrims, who they were, where they came from, why they came here. Why did people come to America? Do you realize Pilgrims were here hundreds of years before this country was founded? The Pilgrims are fundamental to the nation\u2019s founding. Has anybody explained the importance of the Pilgrims other than the first Thanksgiving to you or to your kids, more importantly, lately? I mean the Pilgrims arrived in 1620. We declared independence in 1776. <\/p>\n

They got here a hundred-and-fifty or so years before, and yet the things they did, the life they led, the achievements that they had were fundamental to the founding of the country. And the story isn\u2019t told. It\u2019s not taught properly. We\u2019ve had a couple of phone calls today from people who\u2019ve mentioned that fact, and again, I\u2019ll tell you what this is. It\u2019s a testament to the fact that Americans are literally hungry to show their love for this country. <\/p>\n

Americans are desperate to be able to invest in something that shows their love of this country. So the title of the book: Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims: Time-Travel Adventures with Exceptional Americans. We create this talking horse named Liberty that\u2019s smart aleck, and Rush Revere, our icon from TwoIfByTea. They can go anywhere they want in American history, \u2019cause the horse has the ability to time travel and he can take the smartphone and record video of what happens in history.<\/p>\n

He can bring it back, and show it to a classroom and teach the truth and have fun at the same time using modern-day tech. I tell you, folks, we\u2019re just proud as we can be of it, and again, I can\u2019t tell you how overwhelmed we all are at pre-order status that you\u2019ve made this book. Anyway, I just wanted to take the occasion to thank you again, given what happened. We opened the day number two at Barnes & Noble, and then shot back to one, and then dropped to five, and now we\u2019re back up to one. <\/p>\n

As you know, I\u2019ve always tried to thank all of you for everything you\u2019ve done. I\u2019m insufficient at it, but nevertheless, that\u2019s the latest on it.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hello, Rush. It\u2019s a pleasure to talk to you. Speaking of movies, I\u2019m so thankful that your time-traveling horse Liberty goes to the first Thanksgiving. You couldn\u2019t have picked a better historical event this year. This November a new cartoon is coming out called Free Birds. It stars Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson and the synopsis of the movie on the website reads: “Two turkeys from opposite sides of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change the course of history — and get turkey off the Thanksgiving menu for good.” And the trailer depicts the Pilgrims as malicious, vicious bad guys.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve heard of this.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t know how this movie is gonna end, but all the kids this year at Thanksgiving are gonna be refusing to eat turkey.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019ve heard about this. Folks, this is outrageous. It\u2019s a cartoon, and they can do what they want to do. Have turkeys go back to the original Thanksgiving, take turkey off the menu, and portray the Pilgrims as a bunch of mean-spirited, extremist haters. This is the kind of bastardization that kids have been subjected to for I don\u2019t know how long. Captain Planet, the cartoon shows on Saturday morning, distorting the view and the history of America? That\u2019s what Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims corrects. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s outrageous what is being done to American history for kids. <\/p>\n
