RUSH: So it\u2019s another classic example of, I think, utter incompetence. And, if it\u2019s not incompetence, then it is shamefully purposeful, and that is the denial of death benefits to these veterans killed in action. Fox did a report last night, brought home caskets that are fork lifted into a rented transport cargo plane. They can\u2019t bring \u2019em back because of the government shutdown. We don\u2019t have the money for it and so forth, and the families didn\u2019t get death benefits, and Obama says, “Well, I\u2019m gonna fix it now. I\u2019m gonna go fix it.” <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The idea that it happens in the first place, and the idea that these illegal aliens can have the National Mall open for them to attend a rally demanding amnesty, while at the same time the National Mall is closed to American citizens. Folks, I\u2019m gonna tell you, all of these events, they\u2019re in the news, and the media\u2019s doing stories, but they\u2019re just perfunctory. I don\u2019t think the people reporting these stories have any idea the way they\u2019re being reacted to, particularly outside of Washington. This business of closing the National Mall, closing the World War II memorial, not allowing World War II vets or anybody else on the grounds of the memorial because of the government shutdown, and we don\u2019t have any money for it. <\/p>\n

And then the pro-amnesty people get a waiver or an exemption, and they get to use the park. Illegal aliens, not citizens, are permitted to show up and conduct a rally and protest demanding citizenship on the spot, demanding amnesty, this is the kind of thing people out in the country hear about, this is so uncomplicated. This does not require ideology to understand. This does not require one to be a Democrat or a Republican and to abandon those loyalties to understand that this is not right. This is the kind of thing I think that just infuriates people. You see the president\u2019s approval rating today is at 37%. Maybe you haven\u2019t seen that. It hasn\u2019t been reported anywhere. Well, I take it back. It is reported deep in an AP story, which has as its headline: “Republicans Blamed for Shutdown.”<\/a> <\/p>\n

The president of the United States with an approval rating of 37%. George Bush\u2019s low was 36, back in 2006. And they couldn\u2019t stop reporting that. We played for you earlier the Wolf Blitzer breathless three-hour effort to report that. And it gets a scant mention in an AP story. But out there, outside what\u2019s known as the Beltway, this is not sitting well, and the same thing with the death benefits being denied military families. This is not pretty and the president knows it.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: The House of Representatives just unanimously voted to restore death benefits, 26 families were not receiving death benefits, military families. Now, my question is this. ‘Cause Obama\u2019s gonna sign this. Why this and not the NIH funding bill for kids with cancer? The publicity was too bad? Well, I\u2019m being facetious with the question. My point here is, I understand the publicity on this was hot to trot. But there has been, probably not as intense, but there\u2019s been publicity on the NIH and some of these other piecemeal things. <\/p>\n

I\u2019m gonna tell you something, folks. What happened on the National Mall with the Park Service letting the amnesty people in there, they don\u2019t know yet what that\u2019s gonna end up costing this regime. They haven\u2019t the slightest idea. We\u2019re talking easy to understand. I meant to make this point earlier. You don\u2019t need to be Republican, Democrat, to understand ideology. This is just not right. You keep World War II vets out of there, don\u2019t let them in. You padlock the fences to keep \u2019em out. Then you open it up, give an exemption to people who are not even citizens to come in and bitch? I\u2019m gonna tell you, this is gonna cost the regime a lot. I don\u2019t think they fully appreciate that yet. They really don\u2019t. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: Joanne in Fort Worth, Texas. It\u2019s great to have you on the program. How are you?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I am doing great personally, but I don\u2019t know about this government. You know, we were looking at the TV, my husband served in the service over 20, 30 years, almost, and he was seeing that these families were not getting the benefits that they deserved and were promised to \u2019em. You know, his eyes watered when he saw this because he imagined himself over there dying for me and my children, his family, and then knowing that we were out in the cold, that our government threw us out in the cold. This is ridiculous. And I think that each and every one of us should go to those memorials and personally, if I could go down there, take all those barricades down, and just —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Why do you think this happened, Joanne?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I think it happened because Barack Obama, our president of the United States, has no honor. With a capital H.<\/p>\n

RUSH: No honor.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No honor.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, this happened because of the government shutdown. Because of the shutdown they said they didn\u2019t have the money for these benefits.<\/p>\n

CALLER: You know, I don\u2019t play these games. I don\u2019t play these word games. I don\u2019t play any of these other games. The president, he had the airplane for Air Force One, he was gonna go overseas somewhere to go visit somebody else in another country. So that means that his plane and his fuel that he decided not to use after all because it would look bad for him, he could use it for those families —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you know how bad it is — (crosstalk)<\/p>\n

CALLER: — they came back to the United States.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Joanne, do you know how bad it really is for Obama? This is really a shame. Do you know his wife had to cancel a $32,000-a-plate fundraiser in California this week because of the shutdown, \u2019cause she can\u2019t use the airplane to get there. Isn\u2019t that a shame?<\/line>The media made a big deal of, poor Michelle can\u2019t go and pal around with Harvey Weinstein, or whoever it is, at 32 grand a plate because of the shutdown. She can\u2019t get on the plane. I guess she could fly commercial, but the Secret Service wouldn\u2019t permit that.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, at least she could still go and pray for God to help her out in these situations, whereas a lot of Catholics don\u2019t have that position and don\u2019t have that privilege anymore.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do you mean, pray? Michelle Obama pray to who?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Whoever they want to pray to, but all I know is a lot of Catholics won\u2019t be able to go and pray that these people get their minds in order and open their hearts and do what\u2019s right for everybody, you know, in the United States.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, no, no. The Catholics, they\u2019re gonna have birth control pills thrown at \u2019em when they go in there.<\/p>\n

CALLER: There\u2019s a lot of priests that are on base that are furloughed, so they\u2019re not allowed to hold Mass. Mass has been canceled. They were told if they did any kind of sacraments or —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You mean in the military?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah. It\u2019s outrageous. But they\u2019re trying to fix it, Joanne. The Republicans in the House heard about this, and they fixed it. You know, the guys unwilling to negotiate, supposedly. Anyway, Joanne, I appreciate the call. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
