RUSH: Charlene in Prescott, Arizona. Great to have you here on Open Line Friday. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thanks, Rush. No flattery, just thanks for taking my call and I wanted to tell you and Obama that what he\u2019s done to this country is sad. It\u2019s like a Mickey Mouse country now. I am so depressed and angry with what this man is doing to us, I just want to scream. That\u2019s where it\u2019s taken me. He started out with Obamacare, at the same time saying, “Jobs, jobs, jobs.” That was a lie. He does that all the time. He says one thing and he does another, and that\u2019s what he did with Obamacare.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Were you surprised by this?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, because I was one of your ignorant people here in Arizona. I asked the people in the Safeway, the people on the street —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Wait a minute. Are you saying…? Did you mean to say that you voted for him?<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, I did not vote for him. I knew just enough to avoid voting for him, but I was willing to support him because he was my president, and I love this country. Obama is still my bad, stupid president.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, I know that a lot of people feel the office of the presidency is sacrosanct them no matter who\u2019s in it, except if his name is Nixon.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. (laughing)<\/p>\n

RUSH: Or Reagan.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Uh-huh.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Or Bush.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yup.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Then they gotta get rid of him. That\u2019s why gotta destroy him. That\u2019s another story.<\/p>\n

CALLER: It\u2019s just that I\u2019m so… I almost want to leave this country, if I knew somewhere to go, but I keep on telling my friends that I\u2019m counting the days now \u2019til he\u2019s out, but we\u2019re gonna get Clinton.<\/p>\n

RUSH: The IRS will find you if you leave.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, and the IRS? That is the scariest thing. Of all the things I could think of is having the IRS oversee my health care, my life, my death, and everything else. Those people shouldn\u2019t be allowed to do anything without supervision can be, tons of supervision. They shouldn\u2019t —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Come on! The IRS is only there to make sure that you and other rich people like you pay your fair share.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right, and I\u2019m not a rich person, and Obama is redistributing what little I have.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you have some money?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Those who have nothing and don\u2019t deserve it are getting it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Do you have money?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I have enough to survive.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, then you\u2019re rich, as far as Obama\u2019s concerned.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

CALLER: Oh, yeah, I know. He\u2019ll take every penny he can get from me. Because that\u2019s what he\u2019s good at. He\u2019s preying on the middle class, and the people here in Arizona, I can\u2019t tell you how ignorant the young people are. You ask \u2019em anything, and they have no idea what you\u2019re talking about.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, but isn\u2019t that normal? I mean, young people are like that in every generation. It\u2019s always accompanied by the fact they think they know everything.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes, but you were right. The Republicans could be educating people. They\u2019re not.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah.<\/p>\n

CALLER: They are not educating people and making people understand.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, and see, that is what begets a lot of questions. Why aren\u2019t they? Is the Washington establishment so unified that there aren\u2019t really that many differences between two parties in this sense, that they\u2019re all oriented toward big government and getting their piece of it and having their job in it, getting their power from it? It would appear to be that that may be true, that there is a group like that.<\/p>\n

You know, the Washington establishment, look at how many people feed off of, live off of every aspect of government. I mean, they literally live off it, and I\u2019m not talking about warfare recipients. I\u2019m talking about people that live in that town, that work in ancillary businesses. It\u2019s all about government, and that\u2019s where all the money is collected. That\u2019s where it all goes and everybody there is trying to get their take and have power over it, power of the purse kind of person. <\/p>\n

Maybe one of the reasons why they don\u2019t do the teaching is \u2019cause there hasn\u2019t been any opposition. I mean, there\u2019s been the perfunctory opposition to health care. “We Republicans aren\u2019t for that!” But when it came time to really roll up the sleeves, that\u2019s when they said, “Well, you know, Rush, elections have consequences. After all, Obama did win.” Well, what about 2010? What consequences were there of that? I mean, that was an historic GOP landslide. What consequences did that election have? <\/p>\n

That election is not allowed to count for anything. <\/p>\n

“Ah, that was those locoweed Tea Party people! Ah, you can\u2019t count that! Why, 2010 didn\u2019t mean anything, Rush.” <\/p>\n

Yeah, really? They swept the Democrats out of the House. I mean, it was a huge shellacking. <\/p>\n

“Yes, but it didn\u2019t mean anything, because that was an election against government.” <\/p>\n

So I don\u2019t know, folks. Again, what ticks me off is all of this was knowable — all of it — and here\u2019s Charlene, and I think she\u2019s typical, too. “Well, he is our president, and he won the election, and we give our presidents the benefit of the doubt, and we all want our presidents to do well.” Right. It\u2019s probably an attitude felt\/shared by gazillions of Americans. I fully realize that most people aren\u2019t nearly as political in their outlook as I am. I realize most people aren\u2019t as ideological. <\/p>\n

But I also realize what a better country it would be if more people were, because those are the forces that are working against everybody. There are political\/ideological forces aligned against the little guy, the average guy, the middle class — Charlene just said it — and they don\u2019t see it. But they might see it as incompetence. They might see it as, “Well, you know, he\u2019s a great guy. He just doesn\u2019t know what he\u2019s doing,” but the Republicans didn\u2019t even go after it in that way. <\/line><\/p>\n

You don\u2019t have to be a purebred, ideological person in order to reject this stuff. <\/p>\n

You can go at it in other ways, but they didn\u2019t even try that. <\/p>\n
