RUSH: Robert in San Diego. Robert, I\u2019m glad you waited. You\u2019re next on the EIB Network. Hi.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Hi, sir. I\u2019m just calling about what Sebelius said today about the IRS and the NSA being storage areas for information so Health and Human Services couldn\u2019t get hacked, as far as personal information.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yeah, yeah. Who in the world believes that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, here\u2019s the thing. I was the intel analyst, and they\u2019re telling me that Health and Human Services people are gonna get a top secret clearance so they can access the information stored at NSA?<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t know that they\u2019ll need a top secret clearance.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I would imagine to get into the NSA computer database, you\u2019d have to have a TS, a top secret.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Not if someone at NSA shared shares it with you, you don\u2019t need anything top secret.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, you know what, sir? All these complaints about Obama have always been kind of like, “Well, this might happen or this may happen.” With IRS, we saw that their abuse of information does happen. So I will concede to you, I guess they would probably give them full access to whatever information they wanted regardless of where it was stored.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t think there\u2019s any… Let me tell you something. The reasonable, intelligent thing to do would be to assume that that\u2019s the case. I think people already are assuming the NSA knows everything about \u2019em. Like, I\u2019ll tell you a little story. I have some friends, and the new iPhone came out with the fingerprint censor, and the wife of the couple says, “I\u2019m not doing that! No way! I\u2019m not turning on my Location Services. I\u2019m not gonna do any of it. No way.”<\/p>\n

“Wait a minute. You don\u2019t think that they\u2019ve already got your fingerprints somewhere? You may turn Location Services off, but your GPS is on all day. You don\u2019t think they can find you?” How many people have to give a fingerprint or thumbprint just for security someplace? This data is there. Folks, the data collection isn\u2019t the problem. There\u2019s no way of avoiding that. Technological advancement is such there\u2019s no way of stopping the data collection. What it boils down to is who has it and how they want to use it, and that\u2019s where ideology comes into play.<\/p>\n

If you have people running the country who want to control people\u2019s lives and who want to punish people who don\u2019t agree with them, then that\u2019s a problem for those people having that data. If you have people that don\u2019t care to control other people, who believe in total freedom and so forth, and that information is kept strictly to deal with potential threats and criminal people, then you have nothing to worry about. It\u2019s all about who\u2019s got the data and why they want it — and, again, ideology will tell you who and who isn\u2019t a problem in that regard. <\/p>\n

Now, power does tend to corrupt everybody. I understand. <\/line><\/p>\n

But you\u2019re not gonna stop the data collection. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s not possible.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just too omnipresent now. It matters who has it and why they want it. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s the key.<\/p>\n
