CALLER: Hello, Rush. Sorry for sounding cynical here, but I don\u2019t know why you\u2019re getting excited about the NBC and Washington Post poll numbers, because at the end of the day it doesn\u2019t matter. The takers now outnumber the makers. And as long as government\u2019s gonna be the sugar daddy to all these recipients that\u2019s getting food stamps, free housing, cell phones, you name it, they\u2019re gonna keep voting for \u2019em.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s not true.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Sure it is.<\/p>\n

RUSH: That\u2019s not true, because, well, all the commentators are Fox are saying this is the end of liberalism.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No. I don\u2019t believe that one bit. I\u2019m a conservative —<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: This poll is an early indicator of that. I mean, all this disapproval of Obamacare and if the election were held today Romney would win. They\u2019re interpreting this means that the gloss is gone from Obama and people are maybe figuring out that big government can\u2019t take care of \u2019em.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, but the problem is people are just ignorant. As long as they\u2019re getting free stuff, as long as they\u2019re being rewarded for bad behavior, they\u2019re gonna keep doing it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: And the bottom line is they now outnumber us, and the Democrats have an excellent, excellent campaign strategy. When you got these early voting going on, what do they do? They bus people in left and right. They got a month to do it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: With Happy Meals.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m sorry?<\/p>\n

RUSH: With Happy Meals.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: On the bus.<\/line><\/p>\n

CALLER: So if they outnumber us and if they keep giving free stuff away, promising that they\u2019re gonna give \u2019em free stuff, I just don\u2019t see how we\u2019re ever going to have a Republican president in the near future.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, do you really believe — seriously, now — that we have reached the point where we are outnumbered?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I do, from what I\u2019ve seen here in Ohio, I do. You got the Democrats that are busing these college students in to these voting booths every 30 minutes. Every time President Obama comes down and gives his campaign speech, they bus \u2019em straight to the voting booth. They have such a great campaign game going on that —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, now, George W. Bush was elected as recently as 2004, okay? That\u2019s nine years ago. Do you think in nine years — I mean that was the country, and that was a sizable margin over John Kerry. So do you think in nine years we have lost the country?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I think that in the last five years we had 27 million people on food stamps. Now we got 49 million people on food stamps. And, like I said, as long as you keep rewarding people for bad behavior, they\u2019re gonna keep taking it.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, I understand that. There\u2019s no argument there. But is everybody on food stamps a lazy bum or maybe do they want to work and can\u2019t because Obama\u2019s destroyed the job sector?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, they said that the average person on government assistance makes $17 an hour. So if they\u2019re making $17 an hour sitting on their butt, what makes you think they\u2019re gonna get off their butt and go to work?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, so the Washington Post poll story and all that, meaningless. What, then, is the solution?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, the Drive-By Media has always, at the end of the day, supported the liberals. And until the Drive-By Media actually starts doing journalism, nothing\u2019s gonna change, in my opinion.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, that\u2019s not gonna happen. I agree with you that the media is right there at the top of our problems. There\u2019s no argument from me. But they\u2019re not going to change. How did Ronald Reagan win? I\u2019m just picking your brain here, because in the seventies we almost had repeating circumstances here. You\u2019ve got a president wallowing in disfavor, economic malaise, it\u2019s just —<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, he won because there was a sense of pride. You didn\u2019t have 99-week unemployment checks coming in, and you didn\u2019t have all this government assistance. That\u2019s how he won.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You had a sizable amount of it. You had a sizable welfare state even back then. My point is, do you think it\u2019s over? You\u2019re sounding awfully fatalistic here. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m a Tea Party conservative. I\u2019m just trying to be realistic with you. From what I see, I see a lot of people that they\u2019re just uneducated and as long as they\u2019re getting free stuff, you know, they\u2019re gonna keep running it until the wheels fall off.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, when is that gonna happen? Because, you know, some people —<\/p>\n

CALLER: I got a feeling —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Some people think that the money is gonna run out, but it never will. This government will never run out of money. They can print it, they can steal it, borrow it, they\u2019ll never run out of money.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Exactly. That\u2019s exactly what they\u2019re gonna do. They\u2019re just gonna keep printing money and keep printing money. And personally, I don\u2019t see an end in sight. I mean, we\u2019re so far down the rabbit hole, it doesn\u2019t matter. And everybody expects — well, not everybody, but the majority of the takers now, they expect it. And if you say something about it or call \u2019em out on it you\u2019re either a racist or you\u2019re just one of those people that just don\u2019t care.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You\u2019re a bigot, mean-spirited.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What if the next Republican presidential candidate tries, as his appeal, a Reaganesque appeal to the goodness and decency of the American people? And says in his campaign that he believes that the American people can rise to the challenge, that it\u2019s in them and that they have the desire and the ability? And the candidate wants to try to inspire and motivate people to get out of that cycle of dependence that they\u2019re in? Is there any way that a really good candidate could help overcome this, do you think?<\/line>CALLER: Well, I think Romney did a good job, for the most part. He\u2019s a businessman; he knows how to create jobs. But, unfortunately, if you don\u2019t have the media backing you, you\u2019re not gonna win it. Because as long as you tell a lie, as long as you tell it often and long enough, the dumb masses, they\u2019re gonna believe you.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. Well, then, we have to somehow get rid of the media.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, but you can with that.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay. So you sound awfully fatalistic. It\u2019s over. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I don\u2019t think it\u2019s over for the Republican Party. I think that we can still get the majority in the House and Senate, but I just don\u2019t see a Republican nominee in the near future — unless the media picks \u2019em, like, for example, it seems to me that already picked Christie as a Republican president.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes, they have.<\/p>\n

CALLER: So I think that as long as the media isn\u2019t on your side —<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, do you support that? They\u2019ve picked Christie to be the nominee. They have not picked him to be president. Big difference.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah, but they will. I mean, as far as picking —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You think they\u2019ll pick Christie over Hillary?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You think they\u2019ll pick Christie over Hillary? No.<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: No, I\u2019m asking you.<\/p>\n

CALLER: What I\u2019m saying is, if there\u2019s more than one person running for Republican presidential nominee, they\u2019ll pick him because he\u2019s more moderate.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right. Right, right light right. But they\u2019re not gonna pick him to be president. They\u2019ll pick him to be the nominee.<\/p>\n

CALLER: No, no. No.<\/p>\n

RUSH: They\u2019ll do a McCain on him.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Right. Exactly.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, there\u2019s… I should retire, then?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I hope not. I mean, you\u2019re telling the truth. The problem is there\u2019s just not enough people out there that want to hear the truth and there\u2019s not enough people that are educated.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You know, I think there\u2019s a lot of truth to that. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s that people are not being reached. I think there are some people that just don\u2019t want to hear it. I think there\u2019s a lot to be said for the fact that it\u2019s tough to light a fire under people who are… Look, this is why I keep making the point that you have 91.5 million people not working. That\u2019s huge. That\u2019s unfathomable to me, in a country like ours. <\/p>\n

You know, in a tinhorn dictatorship, I can see it, but 91.5 million people here? They\u2019re adults. I don\u2019t know what the adult population is. The total population 300 mill plus, but the adult population, to have 91.5 million not working, yet they are all eating? That\u2019s what he\u2019s saying. What\u2019s the point of working if they\u2019re all eating? Why would you upset the applecart that\u2019s feeding you while you can\u2019t or don\u2019t want to get a job? <\/p>\n

This criticism of the media, I\u2019ve got a lot of people that say this. “You know, you\u2019re spitting into the wind here, Limbaugh. You don\u2019t know it. The media… It\u2019s all the media. It\u2019s the media. It\u2019s the media. As long as the media is there, we\u2019re never gonna have a chance. Never gonna. It\u2019s the media, the media, the media.” Well, the media is never going to change, not in our lifetimes. <\/p>\n

To change the media you\u2019re gonna have to totally throw out every journalism school and get rid of everybody in every newsroom, and then you\u2019re gonna have to change the grade school and middle school and high school curriculum. This is where we\u2019re creating these people. I hearken back to Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims<\/a>. But if you are of the belief that we cannot ever win because of the media, they aren\u2019t going to change.<\/p>\n

They are never gonna pick somebody who is conservative or Tea Party or anything close to actually be president — and if one happens to get elected, they\u2019re gonna spend the next waking hours trying to destroy him like they did Bush. The problem here is the Republican Party doesn\u2019t know how to do battle with that.<\/line>BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/line><\/p>\n

RUSH: We are still paying the price of the New Deal. That\u2019s when it was established that government can buy you and provide for you. No question about it. <\/p>\n
