RUSH: We\u2019re gonna start back here in West Chester, Ohio, and Susan. Thank you for waiting. It\u2019s great to have you on the program. Hello.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Thank you so much.<\/p>\n

RUSH: You bet. <\/p>\n

CALLER: I\u2019m calling because I\u2019m from the 8th District in Ohio, which is John Boehner\u2019s district.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Right.<\/p>\n

CALLER: There\u2019s a grassroots movement to vote him out in the May primary, and I wanted your advice and opinion on that for two reasons. One, for when we get him out, and then, two, it would be a vital time to position someone much, much better into the House speaker\u2019s position, and I wondered who you would want to see in that position.<\/line>RUSH: Well, you are way ahead of me on something like that. That would be a difficult person to name until the House elections take place and we know who\u2019s in there. I can tell you right now that the assumption is — \u2019cause a lot of people are aware of your effort in Ohio. There\u2019s a similar effort being launched against Mitch McConnell in Kentucky. I mean, there are people — Tea Party types and others, folks — who are really just fed up with the Republican Party leadership. <\/line><\/p>\n

As Daniel Horowitz wrote at RedState.com, they don\u2019t understand. They don\u2019t understand why the Republican Party has seemingly become an echo of the Democrats. Why is the Republican Party so hell-bent on immigration reform and amnesty? Well, we know the answer. Chamber of Commerce money, donors, and this kind of thing. But it doesn\u2019t make any sense because it\u2019s not the way to win elections, and it\u2019s not the way to stop the Democrats. People that want to beat Democrats, not join them. <\/line>If you\u2019re gonna doing immigration reform, there\u2019s nobody can outdo the original architects of it, which is the Democrat Party. And the idea that, “Well, we can show the Hispanics we don\u2019t hate them if we join in this effort, maybe get some of their votes down the line.” It\u2019s just a lot of people don\u2019t understand this. So there are efforts underway to unseat Boehner and McConnell in Kentucky. Now, Susan…<\/line><\/p>\n

Well, it\u2019s tough to say \u2019cause I\u2019m not sure who\u2019s doing what and how successful it\u2019s gonna be, but there are people assuming that if Boehner is not reelected, that Eric Cantor will automatically end up being the speaker. He\u2019s number two in command now, number two in line, and he will be reelected, it is assumed, and therefore he will end up being Speaker just by virtue of leadership position now. But it\u2019s way too soon to be able to predict. I don\u2019t think I could ever be able to predict any of this.<\/p>\n

I know full well the rage that people feel, and I understand it tremendously. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s an ongoing topic on this program, it\u2019s an ongoing subject about trying to understand why the Republican establishment is doing what it\u2019s doing. There\u2019s a prevailing opinion, and it\u2019s gaining steam, that the Republican establishment simply would like to get rid of the Tea Party conservative base, even if it means losing for a while, and starting all over. A lot of people believe that that\u2019s what the objective here is, because they\u2019re invested in Washington, invested in the government, and they\u2019re not interested themselves in any downsizing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
