RUSH: Now, let\u2019s get this Millennial poll, because it\u2019s important here. Two stories. First up here from TheHill.com<\/a>. This is a poll from Harvard University Institute of Politics. Millennials are turning against Obamacare. Now, the other poll coming up, Millennials are turning against Obama, period. “Young voters are turning against President Obama and his signature healthcare law, according to a new poll from Harvard University\u2019s Institute of Politics. Obama\u2019s approval rating has plunged to 41 percent with voters aged 18-29, down from 52 percent the last time Harvard polled the group. While 56 percent in the poll say they backed Obama last year, just 46 percent say they would do so again.”<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a drop of 10 points inside of a year. <\/p>\n

<\/a>The Harvard Institute of Politics Director, Trey Grayson, said, “We\u2019re now seeing a sea change among this critical demographic.” I mean, these are the people who bought hope and change back in 2008. They bought the utopia. They bought the end of acrimony. They bought the end of bickering. They bought the end of yelling and partisanship, and they thought it was gonna be peace and love. Obama\u2019s gonna lower the sea levels. He\u2019s gonna lower the temperature. He\u2019s gonna get rid of all the hatred for the United States and there\u2019s gonna be massive love out there. And obviously such hasn\u2019t happened. <\/p>\n

Now, here is the IBD\/TIPP poll, Investor\u2019s Business Daily, their new name is Investors.com. I\u2019m gonna read their editorial. “We keep hearing about how the Republican Party is full of radical Tea Party crazies. But our latest IBD\/TIPP Poll shows that it\u2019s Democrats who are out of touch with reality and well outside the mainstream.<\/p>\n

The public overwhelmingly believes the country is headed in the wrong direction, that current economic policies aren\u2019t working, that President Obama is doing a bad job, that government should be smaller and that Obamacare should be repealed. But not Democrats.<\/p>\n

“On issue after issue, in fact, Democrats are the outliers by wide margins, according to an analysis of the December IBD\/TIPP survey. They are, by and large, Pollyanna-ish about the economy, they can see no evil when it comes to Obama or Obamacare, and they are extremists when it comes to the size and role of the federal government.”<\/p>\n

I\u2019m gonna tell you, if there was ever polling data revealing just how radicalized the Democrat Party\u2019s become, this is it. And there\u2019s no reason to sugarcoat this. I\u2019m gonna just analyze this for you. Those who identify themselves as Democrats would prefer centralized tyranny, federal government tyranny with Obama at the helm. With failure all around, the Democrats say the country\u2019s going in the right direction. They like Obamacare, and that\u2019s just the way it is. But they are a minority. That\u2019s the point. I have often tried to convince people, the media is what makes this unbelievable. <\/p>\n

But I\u2019m telling you: Tea Party-type people, people who think that way, conservative, are the majority of thinking in this country. It isn\u2019t liberalism that is. Even in the polling data that asks people anonymously to identify whether they\u2019re liberal or conservative, it\u2019s conservative two to one, 40% to 20%. Now, Democrat-Republican is a different thing, but those are different factors that make that up. <\/line><\/p>\n

When you ask \u2019em about their ideology, only 20% of the people the country identify as liberal. But then out there you\u2019ve got the media with their daily, suspenseful, never-ending, many-cliffhangers-a-day soap opera, dominated by the liberal agenda. So the impression — and you\u2019ve got Hollywood, same thing. So the impression in the media is that we\u2019re the minority, and we\u2019re not.<\/p>\n

The Republican Party believes they\u2019re the minority, too, and they act that way. They act afraid of themselves, afraid of their own shadows. They think they\u2019ve gotta somehow be though of like Democrats are thought of if they\u2019re to ever have a prayer. That is a product of the Washington culture combined with the media, combined with a lack of confidence. “To get a sense of just how out to lunch Democrats are these days, consider: <\/p>\n

“The economy is barely moving after four years of Obama\u2019s ‘recovery,\u2019 there are millions who\u2019ve given up looking for work, household incomes are down and poverty is up.” There are 91.5 million Americans not working. They\u2019re not in the labor force. That number still overwhelms me. It\u2019s just unacceptable. The economy\u2019s in the tank. There is nothing hopeful coming out of the Regime. There\u2019s no end in sight to any of this. All Obama talks about is more income redistribution, more taxes.<\/p>\n

He keeps attacking the rich. He keeps going after the engine that produces and creates wealth, and that is the private sector, and the Democrats are eating it up. They love it. They can\u2019t get enough of it. They can\u2019t get enough of Obama attacking the genuine creation of wealth. Almost all the Democrats are united, but it is a minority of thinking as is evidenced by the poll. <\/p>\n

Sixty-four percent of the people in this poll think the country\u2019s headed in the wrong direction. With Democrats it\u2019s just the exact opposite. The Democrats in the poll think we are just in such great, great shape. “[T]hose who identify themselves as Democrats are positively upbeat. Two-thirds, in fact, are perfectly satisfied with the country\u2019s direction,” happy as they can be. “Nor are Democrats willing to entertain any doubts about Obama. Overall, his approval rating is just 40% — just 31% of independents give him a thumbs-up.<\/p>\n

“But a ridiculously high 80% of Democrats like the job Obama\u2019s doing.” But 80% of Democrats like the job that he\u2019s doing. Now, I don\u2019t know how much of that is just sheer partisan loyalty and how much of it is actual intelligent thought. But it\u2019s a scary thing if that\u2019s actual intelligent thought, if people actually thinking about where we are and where we\u2019re going are supporting it to the tune of 80%. Whoa. A frightening prospect, wouldn\u2019t you agree? <\/p>\n

“[W]hile only 42% of independents, and just 15% of Republicans, think Obama is honest and trustworthy … 93% of Democrats still believe in him.” You want to talk about the partisan divide? Who are the extremists here? Who are the oddballs? You know, I\u2019ve said it over and over. We really are being governed by the minority. There\u2019s one thing that is binding all of these modern Democrats together. <\/line><\/p>\n

In order to be a modern Democrat, you have to be an out-of-touch extremist. It has to be the primary requirement for entrance into the club. It\u2019s worth noting, too, that on question after question Republicans and independents are more closely aligned than independents and Democrats, and they\u2019ve got charts here that show all of that. No matter how you look at this poll, the outliers, the weirdos, the extremists, the people that are way out of touch, are Democrats.<\/p>\n

When you say independents and Republicans are almost in lockstep on these questions, and over there are the Democrats and liberals, then that\u2019s what they mean. They are extremists. They are the ones out of the mainstream. They are the ones who represent a minority opinion — and in this poll, there is no question about it. So I just mention this to you. It\u2019s tough to stay optimistic, \u2019cause you\u2019re bombarded with the notion every day that you\u2019re the oddball, that you\u2019re the minority, that you\u2019re the extremist.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re the kook!<\/p>\n

You\u2019re the racist, bigot, sexist, homophobe! <\/p>\n

Not true. <\/p>\n

You\u2019ve gotta have the courage to just let that stuff bounce off of you. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s not true.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I get back to the phones here just a second, but I want to share with you the take on this Harvard poll by our old buddy Ron Fournier. He used to be at AP. Now he\u2019s at the National Journal, and he\u2019s looked at the Harvard poll on Millennials. ” Young Americans are turning against Barack Obama and Obamacare, according to a new survey of millennials, people between the ages of 18 and 29 who are vital to the fortunes of the president and his signature health care law.<\/p>\n

“The most startling finding of Harvard University\u2019s Institute of Politics: A majority of Americans under age 25 — the youngest millennials — would favor throwing Obama out of office.” Did you hear that? It\u2019s in the Harvard poll. Not the Investor\u2019s Business Daily poll. That\u2019s a whole different poll. This is the Harvard poll. “The most startling finding of Harvard University\u2019s Institute of Politics: A majority of Americans under age 25 — the youngest millennials — would favor throwing Obama out of office.” <\/line><\/p>\n

You talk about a turnaround? If it weren\u2019t for the Millennial vote in 2012, we wouldn\u2019t be talking about Barack Obama. Well, there\u2019s a lot of factors. “The survey, part of a unique 13-year study of the attitudes of young adults, finds that America\u2019s rising generation is worried about its future, disillusioned with the US political system, strongly opposed to the government\u2019s domestic surveillance apparatus,” that dovetails with what I see on these little tech blogs that I read, “and drifting away from both major parties.”<\/p>\n

Now, I tell you what\u2019s different about this. It wasn\u2019t but six months ago that I saw a similar poll about the Millennials, but they were not disillusioned with Obama. They were disillusioned with America, and that broke me heart and bothered me. They were not losing faith in Obama. They were losing faith in the country. I mean, this is a major turnaround. Now they\u2019re losing faith in Obama, and it makes total sense. <\/p>\n

They\u2019re looking out there and they don\u2019t see a future. Look at all the people out of work, look at what\u2019s happening to wages, and Obama\u2019s out there today once again attacking the creation of wealth. Obama is once again out there attacking capitalism and promoting high taxes and the redistribution of wealth, and income inequality. It\u2019s all he can do! <\/p>\n

RUSH: You know what explains all this? <\/p>\n

The Democrats have never gotten over losing on the issue of family values. They\u2019re tired. They\u2019ve never been gotten over being on the outside of family values, and so they\u2019re vindictive about it. “Okay. All right. Family values, family shmalues! You want family values? We\u2019ll show you what values are,” and they\u2019ve begun an agenda to rip \u2019em apart \u2019cause they can\u2019t win with traditional family values. That\u2019s why they make fun of it. That\u2019s why they make fun of Christians, make fun of pro-lifers, make fun of Tea Party, family values, an assault on the nuclear family. <\/p>\n

Do not tell me it\u2019s not.<\/p>\n
