RUSH: Have you heard about Andrew Cuomo basically telling conservatives from New York, “Get the hell out of the state; if you\u2019re pro-life, we don\u2019t want you here”? You remember, who was that? Who was the governor? David Paterson. Remember David Paterson?<\/a> The left laughed about this — and, of course, in my own way, I did, too.<\/p>\n

<\/a>But, nevertheless, Paterson was talking about raising taxes on the rich, and somebody told him that I had already fled the state because taxes had gone up. And he said, “Well, hell, if I had known that we could get rid of Rush Limbaugh, I would have raised taxes sooner.” (clapping) Everybody in New York applauded. So now here the sitting governor… Can you imagine? By the way, I\u2019m getting a little worn out on this argument, but nevertheless people make it. <\/p>\n

It was last week Governor Cuomo told the Capitol Pressroom that those who disagree with him politically should just leave the state. Just leave. If you\u2019re pro-life, we don\u2019t want you in this state. We don\u2019t have any room for you in this state, particularly pro-life, but if you\u2019re conservative, get out. It\u2019s not being covered. I mean, it\u2019s covered in New York a little bit, scantily, and it\u2019s amusing — and in some places, it\u2019s being cheered. <\/p>\n

Of course there\u2019ll be people saying, “Can you imagine if a Republican governor had said this?” Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course! You know, that argument in itself is indicative of a great imbalance that exists. Because everybody knows what would happen if a Republican did what Cuomo did, but it doesn\u2019t change anything. “Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah! If you had a Republican say that, they\u2019d run the Republican out of the state.” <\/p>\n

Okay, fine. <\/p>\n

But that doesn\u2019t change anybody\u2019s attitude about what Cuomo said. <\/p>\n

He just continues to get away with it. <\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: I want you to hear Governor Cuomo. I told you what he said, but I want you to hear him say it. This was last Friday on the public radio show Capitol Pressroom. He was speaking with the host of this program, Susan Arbetter, and they were having a discussion about the split between moderates and conservatives in the Republican Party, and this is the governor of New York…<\/p>\n

CUOMO: Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right to life, pro-assault weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that\u2019s who they are, and if they are extreme conservatives, they have no place in the State of New York.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, isn\u2019t it the Republicans who are supposed to be not inclusive, and isn\u2019t it supposed to be the Republicans who are intolerant? Of course, it\u2019s just the opposite. It\u2019s also, “If a Republican governor had said this,” blah, blah, blah. Yeah, it wouldn\u2019t have changed anything. Everybody knows if a Republican governor would have said it, he would have been run out of town.<\/line><\/p>\n

But a Democrat governor says it, perfectly fine, no matter what would have happened to the Republican governor. So that argument, “Yeah, can you believe what would happen to…?” doesn\u2019t change anybody\u2019s mind because everybody knows it\u2019s an unfair, un-level playing field, and people apparently are okay with that. “Are these extreme conservatives, right to life…?” Extreme conservative. “Pro-assault weapon.” <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
