CALLER: How are you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Good.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Good! Listen, it was just a lark. By the way, I love Bo. He\u2019s very nice. We had some laughs. I told him that I speak to you all the time, and today\u2019s the first day you\u2019re gonna answer me. I just thought to tell you something. When you were talking about your book<\/a>, you know, the children\u2019s book —<\/p>\n

<\/a>RUSH: Yes?<\/p>\n

CALLER: — and the new books that are coming out,<\/a> I thought to myself, “I\u2019ve gotta tell him this.” I know when you are angry. I know when you are pissed. I know when you\u2019re bored. I know when you\u2019re tired. From the sound of your voice. But what you are when you talk to the children is absolutely delightful. You have a tone in your voice that is just sweet. It\u2019s a pleasure to hear you.<\/p>\n

I recall the little girl that phoned you, and she must have been told, “The phone is not a toy. You talk very politely and succinctly and do what you\u2019re supposed to do on the phone.” And she told you she liked the book, and you said you were going to send her the voice one, and she was very polite. She said, “Thank you.” And then you said, “And I\u2019m gonna send you a teddy bear.” <\/p>\n

And she said, “Yikes!” and it was so great<\/a>. Then there was the family that had the book and each of the kids got a chance to talk to you, and it sounded like it was the oldest child, a boy. He got on, and he said, “Yes, I liked the book very much. When are you gonna write about the Revolution?” And I thought to myself, “That is so great,” and I thought of that this morning while I was listening, and I said, “I\u2019m just gonna take a chance and call him and tell him.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, so you\u2019ve spoken to me all these times.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Now, I finally get a chance to talk back?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do you mean, you can tell when I\u2019m tired, bored, mad, all that?<\/p>\n

CALLER: I can.<\/p>\n

RUSH: I\u2019m never bored. What do you mean?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, sometimes there are some people that call up. Of course this might be one of those conversations.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Oh. Oh. You mean with callers. Oh.<\/p>\n

CALLER: But you would really rather not have it and, of course, I can\u2019t hear you because the radio isn\u2019t on.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Okay, you mean —<\/p>\n

CALLER: But I can tell from your voice, and that\u2019s very good —<\/p>\n

RUSH: You mean when I\u2019m talking to callers, you can tell if they interest me or bore me or make me mad, but when the children call, I\u2019m just Mr. Wonderful?<\/p>\n

CALLER: You melt. You absolutely melt, and there was only one other time. It was before you were married, and you never mentioned… You know, it was something in your life, but her name was never mentioned, and then you became ill in Hawaii, and you recovered. When you got back on the radio, on the air, you said, “Kathryn,” and I thought to myself, “That man adores her. I hope he tells her that he treasures her.”<\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t have to. She knows.<\/p>\n

CALLER: I hope you will for the rest of your life, and have a long and happy life with Kathryn.<\/p>\n
