CALLER: Rush, hello. How you doing?<\/p>\n

RUSH: Very well, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: From one patriot to another, it\u2019s indeed my pleasure to talk to you.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, thank you very much. I\u2019m glad you\u2019re out there, sir.<\/p>\n

CALLER: This country is turned upside down, sir. Not only is there not work for anybody, I\u2019m retired, I guess, toolmaker. I cannot even volunteer my work. I have been to at least three dozen tool shops in Dayton, and they cannot take me to work for nothing. I have no reason to get out of bed in the morning.<\/p>\n

RUSH: What do you mean you can\u2019t even volunteer \u2019em?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, I\u2019ve walked into the shops and told them that I\u2019d work for nothing because I\u2019m going crazy, just no reason to get up. I\u2019ve plied my trade for 45 years.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

RUSH: Are they suspicious that you\u2019re coming in offering to do it for nothing?<\/p>\n

CALLER: Excuse me, I didn\u2019t hear you?<\/p>\n

RUSH: I can\u2019t understand. You come in and you offer to do work for nothing, and they don\u2019t accept your offer?<\/p>\n

CALLER: They give me a variety of reasons, workmen\u2019s comp, if I would get hurt, you know, they\u2019d be liable. They don\u2019t want to lay somebody off if they let me work for nothing. Many reasons. It\u2019s really depressing. I\u2019m very good at my trade, but I can\u2019t work for nothing and I don\u2019t understand. There used to be 700 tool shops in Dayton.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Well, you\u2019re just looking at this the wrong way. You have been liberated. You don\u2019t have to do this anymore. Just go sign up for Obamacare.<\/p>\n

BREAK TRANSCRIPT<\/p>\n

RUSH: I really feel sorry for our last caller, Bill. It\u2019s just appalling, isn\u2019t it, how our capitalist masters have brainwashed people like that guy into thinking he needs to work? You know, Bill and throwbacks like him need to take a few courses with the “professor of leisure studies” that Politico found at the University of Iowa, and Bill needs to get out from under the thumbs of those evil Republicans.<\/p>\n

Bill has gotta realize: Okay, so he\u2019s been doing his job for 45 years and now and he can\u2019t give it away, because people are worried about lawsuits, liability, workmen\u2019s compensation. He just wants to work even though he doesn\u2019t get paid, and he can\u2019t. He\u2019s just a prisoner to this old Republican thing called “the work ethic.” He\u2019s been in prison all these years! He ought to take the advice of Nancy Pelosi and realize that he has just escaped “job lock.” <\/p>\n

He\u2019s free to go out there now and pursue what he\u2019s really wanted to do all of his life and maybe not even known it. Become a poet. Become a painter. That\u2019s what she\u2019s saying. (interruption) “What\u2019s wrong with the work he was doing that he liked?” Well, what\u2019s wrong with that work is that that work was the kind of work that Republicans make you do, welding and all that dangerous stuff. (interruption) No! No! <\/p>\n

He needs to find his inner poet, his inner painter, and realize he\u2019s been liberated now from choices that he didn\u2019t want to make. (interruption) What city did what? (interruption) I don\u2019t know of any cities that poets built, but that\u2019s the point. The cities are built. So he wouldn\u2019t have to build any more cities. So, yeah. Anyway, that\u2019s the philosophy that\u2019s circulating out there now, that Bill\u2019s gotta realize he\u2019s been liberated.
