RUSH: So let me refresh my memory on this. I want to get this right. Who was it…? That\u2019s right. It was Andrea Tarantula who was talking to Lanny Davis<\/a>, filling in for Hannity last night, and she said: “Your good friend Hillary Clinton admitted recently that the [Regime] is losing the information war,” and then asked him, “Is that why you guys want to put monitors in newsrooms?” That\u2019s when I asked, “What is ‘losing the information war\u2019?”<\/p>\n

Who in the world is Obama losing the information war to? Me? Fox News? So I ended up doing an exhaustive search, and here are the fruits of that labor. It\u2019s actually from almost a year ago, January 27, 2013. Hillary Clinton: “America Is Losing\u2019 an Information War That ‘Al Jazeera Is Winning\u2019 — Secretary of State Hillary [Rodham] appeared before a US Foreign Policy Priorities committee this morning,” a year ago, “stating that counter to our history, we are now ‘losing an information war\u2019 to other countries.<\/p>\n

“Clinton also told the committee that private media isn\u2019t up to the task of fighting the information war…” Private media. It “isn\u2019t up to the task.” Here\u2019s her quote: “Our private media cannot fill that gap. In fact, our private media, particularly cultural programming, often works at counter purposes to what we truly are as Americans and what our values are. I remember having an Afghan general tell me that the only thing he thought about Americans is that all the men wrestled and the women walked around in bikinis because the only TV he ever saw was Baywatch and World Wide Wrestling.”<\/line><\/p>\n

So Hillary is… (laughing) Hillary is in Afghanistan, talking to an Afghan general, who actually told her this? Remember now, Hillary\u2019s been told a lot of things by a lot of people. Remember, Hillary has had to dodge “snipper” fire. Remember Hillary had to corkscrew land into Bosnia to avoid snipper fire. It turned out there wasn\u2019t any. She made it up. (interruption) Well, my queue sheet said “snipper,” or the news report had a typo. <\/p>\n

Instead of “sniper” they wrote “snipper.” I thought it was funny, and I ran with it because that\u2019s what was printed. Sniper\/snipper. It\u2019s Dick Gephart who has the invisible friend who is rich and wants his taxes raised. But Hillary\u2019s got a bunch of those, too. Hillary\u2019s got people that tell her things<\/a>, and so now there\u2019s an Afghan general. The only thing he knew about Americans, the only thing he thought was that all the men wrestled and women walked around in bikinis watching them.<\/p>\n

“She also mentioned that while the US did a great job in getting America\u00c2\u2019s message out during the Cold War, after the Berlin Wall fell we stopped and we are paying a price for that. As a result, the emphasis on cultural programming has led to other countries beating us at our own game.” So she\u2019s saying here that our “private media” cannot cut it compared to al-Jazeera. She\u2019s also talking about the entertainment media, not even the news media! I mean, Baywatch and the WWE are not even the news media! <\/line><\/p>\n

This is really nonsensical, when you get down to it. <\/p>\n

Our private media is “losing an information war. … Our private media cannot fill that gap. In fact our private media, particularly cultural programming often works at counter purposes to what we truly are as Americans and what our values are.” Man, oh, man. If I was one of Hillary\u2019s acolytes at ABC, CBS or NBC I would have been righteously indignant and offended if I heard that.<\/p>\n

Because Hillary is saying that her friends are doing a lousy job getting the true story of America out there. She\u2019s been saying something like this since 2011. So Andrea Tarantula was asking Lanny Davis, “Is this why the regime wants monitors in there, to make sure that the stories that are told help America\u2019s image abroad?” What\u2019s the Secretary of State supposed to do? What did she tell the Afghan general after he said that? This is just… I don\u2019t know, folks. These people are just absolute whackos. <\/p>\n

CALLER: Yes you and George Brett were there. That long ago.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Yes.<\/p>\n

CALLER: We were in the box or whatever. Listen, I don\u2019t think this thing for the FCC started with “The Filet.” Do you remember years ago, and I\u2019m almost thinking that Hillary was a senator at the time, but she was overheard.<\/p>\n

RUSH: Hillary was senator of New York. Okay. Okay.<\/p>\n

CALLER: Yeah. She was overheard in a private conversation in the hallway saying, “We\u2019ve got to come up with a legal way to quiet people like” you. Do you remember that? It made such a ruckus? <\/p>\n

RUSH: Which time? (laughing)<\/p>\n

CALLER: Well, it just seemed funny to me that it\u2019s all falling together now when she\u2019s trying to run — and with the FCC thing, I don\u2019t know why it just popped into my head. <\/p>\n

RUSH: I don\u2019t know specifically what you\u2019re talking about but I know that Hillary has done that. Hillary, yeah. The Clintons have had me living in their brains rent-free for as long as they\u2019ve been on the national stage, and I do recall — I don\u2019t specifically, but — Hillary has alluded to the dream of me not being around or lassoed or controlled or whatever. Maxine Waters, too. They all have. Tom Daschle, the old Puffster.<\/p>\n

But this, what you\u2019re trying to do is say, “Look, the original idea was this liberal, not the steak, not Mignon Filet — uh, Clyburn.” But this specific proposal did come from Mignon Clyburn. Now, could she have remembered what Hillary said? My point to all of you is, it doesn\u2019t matter which of them because they all think it. They all agree with it. That\u2019s why you\u2019re not seeing any real pushback, except from somebody like Lanny Davis and Howard Kurtz. But other than that, you\u2019re not really seeing any.
