RUSH: Rick in Anaheim, it’s great to have you up, sir. Hello.
CALLER: Mega dittos from the Left Coast, Rush.
RUSH: Thank you, sir.
CALLER: I did a little experiment, a little liberal experiment, an experiment in liberalism, according to the Limbaugh Theorem this morning. Instead of drinking coffee and eating doughnuts every morning, a couple of the guys that I work with and I walk in the park. This morning we saw some homeless people we haven’t seen before.
RUSH: Oh.
CALLER: They were sheltered underneath the restroom awning and one of the homeless individuals was a little girl, probably should have been in school.
RUSH: Oh.
CALLER: And my two liberal friends said, “Wow, we should do something for them, feel really bad for them.” And I said, “Well, give me five dollars apiece and I’ll go give ’em 10 bucks and maybe they could go get something to eat.” And they said, “We’re not giving ’em any money.” And I said, “Well, I thought you wanted to do something for ’em.” And the experiment in my mind was you know how the liberals like to take other people’s money and give it away, well, I tried to convey this —
RUSH: This really happened? This really happened?
CALLER: Yes, sir.
RUSH: These two guys, you suggest just five bucks, “No, no, no, no, no, not gonna give ’em anything,” but they thought somebody should?
CALLER: Yeah. Yeah. And I said, “Well, we’re here right now. Give me five bucks apiece and I’ll go give ’em 10 bucks.” And they’re always calling me a rich Republican, which cracks me up. I work just as hard as they do, and I make the same money.
RUSH: See? They called you a rich Republican; you suggested 10 bucks. All they wanted was the credit for talking about it; that’s it. They wanted to be thought of as really big-hearted and compassionate because they noticed it, and they said something should be done. But when it came time for the rubber to meet the road, they wanted you to dip into your pocket.
