CALLER: How you doing, Rush?
RUSH: Just fine, sir. Thank you.
CALLER: You know, I just wanted to call and thank you for spreading the truth. That rarely happens anymore these days. I appreciate that, but I also wanted to just call and share me and my family’s experience with your book, the Brave Pilgrims, and basically what we do. It’s so hard with work and school and sports to find time to just sit down and get some family time, and a good way we found is each night, each one of us read a chapter out loud, and we all listen to it, and we actually just finished the book last night. My 12-year-old son read the last chapter, and it was a great book, and I just wanted to thank you for writing those.
RUSH: That is awesome. How many people in the family participate in this round-robin reading project?
CALLER: Well, I actually have three children, but my oldest son is a US Army soldier, so he’s not home right now. But me and my wife and my youngest son, Nathaniel — he’s 12 — and Cheyanne, my daughter. She’s 14.
RUSH: So the four of you read to each other. Josh, this is exactly what we envisioned would happen with these books. We envisioned parents and maybe grandparents actually reading either the books to the kids or with them, and the kids asking questions. The adults might have the answers to above and beyond what’s in the books. We just envisioned families sittings around discussing this stuff because we were hoping what would happen is that people would see and learn things in the books that they didn’t know because they haven’t been taught properly in the schools for so long.
CALLER: Yeah, that’s very true. They love Liberty, too, just so you know. They love Liberty.
RUSH: Well, are you gonna do the same thing with the other two books?
CALLER: Yeah. I haven’t purchased ’em yet but I’m in the process, and they can’t wait. We just finished it last night and they seemed a little sad that it was done, so we’re gonna get the other two and read those.
RUSH: Oh, yeah, I can imagine. There’s no question they’d be sad, but they know there’s two more to come, right?
CALLER: Yeah, I already told ’em that there was more and that we were gonna get ’em and we were gonna read ’em. But I just wanted to call and thank you for writing ’em because they’re awesome and it’s so hard to get quality family time, and this is a really good way for us to spend time together.
RUSH: I tell you, this is exactly what literally we dreamed would happen. I know it sounds old-fashioned and like Norman Rockwellish, but this is great. We actually envisioned families doing this, with the books, and I can see it happening. You’ve created a great picture. Now, you know, I want to send you the other two. But, in addition to that, I want to send you CDs of all three. So if either of you get tired reading on a particular night, you can pop the CD to whatever chapter you’re in and listen to me read it to you.
CALLER: Well, that would be awesome, Rush. You don’t have to do that, but that is greatly appreciated.
RUSH: Okay, then I won’t.
CALLER: No, we’re gonna get ’em nonetheless, so —
RUSH: No, I’m just kidding. Go ahead and get them and donate ’em to the school or something, ’cause I’m gonna send you these two.
