RUSH: I do not want to make the mistake of assuming something is happening prematurely. Nevertheless, ladies and gentlemen, I have to note that I am a bit surprised at the frequency, and even the number, of really negative or less-than-flattering stories about Hillary Clinton from the Drive-By Media.

Now, what we know, what we have learned — I take it back. You and I have known this since the nineties. She’s a phony. There are no coincidences with the Clintons. Nothing just spontaneously happens. Everything is orchestrated; everything is planned; everything is staged — that is, everything that’s intended for public consumption. Her spontaneous road trip in the van is phony. Her unscripted sit-downs with, quote, unquote, everyday Americans, are phony. They are Democrat operatives who are being driven to the events. They are Hillary donors in some cases. They are Obama donors in other cases.

They have worked on Obama or other Democrat candidate campaigns. But they are not everyday people. They didn’t just happen to be wherever Hillary just happened to decide to stop. And then just happened to stroll in. While just happening to wear dark glasses. Just happening and hoping not to be recognized — with 15 cameras in tow. Her claim to care about everyday Americans is phony, as evidenced by, well, her life. The way the Clintons have been reported to treat White House staff, uniformed military people at the White House, stories from the nineties are legion about that.

Her social media numbers are phony. Over half of her Twitter, whatever they are, tweets, are fake. The people are fake, they don’t exist. She is paying $38 per Facebook like. Now, the UK media is all over this, particularly the UK Daily Mail. They’re all over it, but now we’re starting to see on American television, if not yet in print — that’s the next domino to fall — but some traditional Hillary-type supporters in television, Drive-By Media, are starting to raise questions now about her competence.

See, this is the thing. She has known for however many years that this week was coming. Am I right? She’s known for how many years that this particular plan was going to be executed. With all of this time to plan it, they still can’t execute it. And they can’t keep it from being discovered, the truth behind it. With all of this time to execute something simple as getting in a van and driving on an American highway in a middle American state — and deciding to stop at a roadside establishment and spontaneously sit down and have a conversation with everyday-type people — years and years to plan that singular event, and they can’t even pull that off.

This is what the American Drive-By Media is starting to notice and thus be concerned about. Because, remember, none of this bothers them in terms of whether or not Hillary would be qualified to be president. They don’t care. If they cared about that, they wouldn’t have supported Obama. He’s an absolute incompetent boob when it comes to defending and protecting the traditions and institutions that have defined this country’s greatness. He’s all about changing them. They don’t care. Their only concern is can she beat whoever the Republicans nominate. That’s why this bothers them.

That is why I am detecting the first pulse of concern in some of the Drive-By TV broadcast media reporters. It’s very simple: If she can’t plan a phony event like a diner chat session with some supposed Americans. If she can’t plan that with months and months — and notice all of the talent on her payroll. She supposedly has the best and brightest the Democrat Party has to offer, from consultants, to marketers, to tech people, to strategists, to planners — and she still can’t pull it off. And by not being able to pull it off, what I mean is, everybody has discovered that it’s fake.

One of the reasons they discovered it was fake is because it looked fake, and she looked fake. It didn’t look real because it wasn’t real. The Clintons just can’t do real because everything they do is structured and acted and performed.

I know that many of you in this audience are yourselves performers, and you know that on any given day if you don’t have it, it’s tough, it is hard. The process of acting — you know what’s so hard about acting? You know what the number one requirement other than being able to memorialize lines, but that’s actually part of it, you know what the number one requirement for being an actor? (interruption) Well, yeah, make you look like you’re not acting, but how do you do that? How do you do that?

You have to totally rid yourself of all of your self-consciousness. If you have just a trace of self-consciousness, that will be noticed. You have to be able to get outside your own body. I’m not talking about in a metaphysical sense here. I’m talking attitudinally, maybe even psychological, you have to be able to totally abandon who you are.

If you have the slightest shred of self-consciousness, and that can be defined as worrying about how you look, worried whether or not you’re succeeding, then you’re gonna forget your lines and you’re gonna start acting rather than being. It’s a very hard thing to do. It’s why those people, in addition to the way they look, are paid a lot of money, the big ones, ’cause it’s really, really hard to do. It’s also why they’re so messed up. (interruption) No, no, it is, because their whole lives are spent being somebody else.

They play a role as a farm wife, they actually become the farm wife and they think it’s legitimate to testify before Congress about it. All they did was portray one. They hadn’t been farm wives. They don’t know agriculture problems, but they had to get totally outside themselves. And because they want to be known, like everybody does, for who they really are, when they’re not acting, you know, when Gwyneth Paltrow is not Hayseed B. Snerd or whatever, she wants to be known for what she really thinks and we learn that they’re idiots. Well, they’re liberals.

Mrs. Clinton, I maintain to you, cannot do this. Mrs. Clinton is too self-conscious for whatever reason. She cannot act. She simply can’t pull it off. She can’t act friendly. She can’t act nice. She can’t act real. She just comes across as stone cold. And that’s why they want her to act because they want her to be able to abandon that. But when you think you’re better than everybody else, you don’t want to abandon that, you don’t want to be Mr. Everyman.

That’s the contradiction here. Mrs. Clinton’s trying to portray herself as an average, ordinary American, but the fact is she isn’t. Average ordinary Americans do not get $14 million for writing a book that nobody reads. Average Americans are not paid $300,000 for a speech that nobody wants to listen to. Average Americans are not paid $14 million to write a book nobody wants to read and then show up at a book signing that nobody attends. Average Americans would love to be able to get that kind of money for being unable to do what the payment is for.

Mrs. Clinton can, she’s not like the rest of us. She simply is not an average, ordinary, everyday person. The bottom line also is, I don’t know presidents today, what people want in them. It used to be people wanted extraordinary people, people that were admittedly better than you were, to be president. Now as we head toward the situation portrayed in the movie Idiocracy where the low-information voter wants somebody as stupid as they are to be president — that’s the way we’re trending — Mrs. Clinton can’t pull that off.

No matter how nice she tries to be, she still can’t look nice, she can’t act it, and that’s the problem. That’s why the more she’s in public and the more she speaks, the worse and lower her poll numbers get. The more she’s silent and invisible and out of the public eye, her numbers go up. So phony, totally phone, everything. She’s been talking about her grandparents, immigrants. They weren’t.

BuzzFeed, which is a relatively new Internet news site started by some guy, I think it was the Politico, Ben Smith, anyway, doesn’t matter. You know how they found out? Any member of the Drive-By Media community could have done this. Any of you could have done this. They simply went to Ancestry.com. They filled in the name and the search term “Hillary Rodham Clinton,” and it’s right there, all the documents, all the census reports. Every one of her grandparents and great-grandparents is basically from Pennsylvania.

They’re not from Ireland. They didn’t emigrate here as she said. Now, all of our relatives were at some point immigrants because the nation was built that way, but her statement is flat-out untrue. It’s just like people have forgotten this. She claimed that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary, who was the first human being without jet back power to climb Mt. Everest. The only problem with that is that when Hillary Clinton was born, Edmund Hillary had not yet climbed anything, much less Mt. Everest. Nobody knew who he was when she was born.

Totally made up, just like this grandparents or great-grandparents or whatever it is immigration story. And again, what is telling about all of this is how poorly it has been organized and executed, given the top talent on the staff putting it together and the time. Given all the time they have had, they can’t even get one event right because they can’t rely on spontaneity. They can’t rely on reality. They can’t trust the fact that Hillary Clinton’s gonna walk into a diner in Iowa and not get booed and run out of the place.

So what they have to do is take over the diner and populate it with people paid to be there. Democrat staffers, donors, what have you, and then put Hillary Clinton in the middle of it. It all becomes fake and it looks fake because they didn’t hire any professional actors. How bad is it when your leading presidential candidate, you can’t even trust, you can’t even roll the dice that she can pull off walking in to a 7-Eleven without getting kicked out, booed out, laughed at, or otherwise heckled? And they’re not dumb for that. I mean, they saw the big book tour nobody showed up. They had to pay people for that.

How risky is it? This is the person and the Democrats tell us is the automatically, unquestionably qualified next president, and they can’t even trust her to go into a diner and have at least half the place applaud that she arrived and want to meet her and talk to her? They have to pay people to come in and act like they want to talk to her and act like they care about what she thinks? Ha.

I have to take a break here, my friends, but, by the way, she did not leave a tip at Chipotle. I knew it and I guess the people at Bloomberg News went out and actually researched it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Now, you heard me at the opening of the program make mention of the fact that Mrs. Clinton is making up things. For example, the road trip was phony. The scripted sit-downs with everyday Americans was phony. Her claim about everyday Americans is phony. The charitable foundation, that’s dubious. Social media numbers are phony, and she’s got all of these stories now about her grandparents or great-grandparents being immigrants.

Well, the Daily Mail — by the way, we just got an e-mail from them. Snerdley, I’m gonna paraphrase this. He got the e-mail. He just reported it to me. The UK Daily Mail sent Snerdley an e-mail thanking us profusely for referencing them as often as we do, and they have decided they have opened an actual domestic bureau in the United States where they are now just The Daily Mail, no UK, just The Daily Mail. Why do we so often reference and quote the Daily Mail? Because it’s the only publication we get the truth. It’s the only publication that’s reporting things that you don’t see on ABC, NBC, CBS, the New York Times, the Washington Post.

It’s uncanny. Daily Mail, UK Daily Mail reports things — and, by the way, they’re happening right in front of everybody’s faces. I don’t mean to impugn The Daily Mail, but they’re not having to dig deep to find this stuff. It’s happening right in front of everybody’s faces. It’s just the other people are ignoring it. But they aren’t, they’re reporting it. So they called here to thank us for doing so and told us that they’re dropping the UK, at least for domestic operations because it’s now just The Daily Mail.

I’m gonna quote ’em again here. “Hillary Clinton’s astroturf candidacy is in full swing in Iowa. Her Tuesday morning visit to a coffee shop in LeClaire, Iowa was staged from beginning to end, according to Austin Bird, one of the men pictured sitting at the table with Mrs. Clinton. Bird told Daily Mail Online that campaign staffer Troy Price called and asked him and two other young people to meet him Tuesday morning at a restaurant in Davenport, a nearby city.

“Price then drove them to the coffee house to meet Clinton after vetting them for about a half-hour. The three got the lion’s share of Mrs. Clinton’s time and participated in what breathless news reports described as a ’roundtable’ — the first of many in her brief Iowa campaign swing.”

Now, the names sometimes run together, get confused, so let’s review. We have here a man by the name of Austin Bird who told the Daily Mail Online that a Clinton campaign staffer called and asked him and two other young people to meet him Tuesday morning at a restaurant in Davenport. The three get together and the campaign worker vets them, discovers whether or not they can pull it off, whether they can look like ordinary, average, everyday Iowans who just happen to be at this place when Mrs. Clinton just happened to stroll in.

The Clinton campaign staffer vetted them, determined that they fit the bill, and drove them to the coffeehouse that Mrs. Clinton was just gonna happen to stop into later. The vetting process, the qualifying process took a half hour. Then Mrs. Clinton just happens to show up. And these three, ordinary, everyday guys, who just happened to have been driven there by the Clinton campaign, engage in a roundtable discussion, and they just happened to get the lion’s share of Mrs. Clinton’s time and attention. And then the news media reports this as though it was all spontaneous, that it all just happened.

Mrs. Clinton driving along and decided, you know what, I want to stop at that diner. Let’s go in there, let’s find some everyday people in there and let’s just have a roundtable. So they stopped the van, Mrs. Clinton gets out, walks in, and there happen to be these three guys sitting at the table that she just happens to choose and they have a great roundtable discussion.

Daily Mail Online was told the whole thing was staged, the whole thing was set up. The Drive-By Media knew it, but breathlessly reported it as real, as spontaneous, and, by the way, they also claimed that Mrs. Clinton was just fabulous. She just had them in the palm of her hand, and they loved her, and they loved her ideas. They thought Mrs. Clinton had the answers for every question they had. And they left the meeting enthused and excited that they had likely met the next president of the United States.

Now, Austin Bird, who is one of the men pictured sitting at the table with Mrs. Clinton, one of the guys asked to show up, one of the guys interviewed and vetted and qualified, Austin Bird, who is he? He is a “frequent participant in Iowa Democratic Party events. He interned with President Obama’s 2012 presidential re-election campaign, and was tapped to chauffeur Vice President Joe Biden in October 2014 when he visited Davenport.”

So he’s a Democrat staffer. He’s a committed Democrat. He is paid to make Democrats look good and arrive safely. The Clinton campaign portrayed him as an average, ordinary, everyday man who just happened to be where Mrs. Clinton was when she just happened to stop and walk into this roadside diner, that just happened to look like everyday people would be in there.

Bird said Wednesday in a phone interview with the Daily Mail, “What happened is, we were just asked to be there by Troy,” who’s the Clinton campaign staffer. “We were asked to come to a meeting with Troy, the three of us, at the Village Inn.”

“The other two, he confirmed, were University of Iowa College Democrats president Carter Bell and Planned Parenthood of the Heartland employee Sara Sedlacek.” So you had a college Democrat president, and a Planned Parenthood employee, who were the other two people that just happened to be at the diner when Mrs. Clinton just happened to stop the van and just happened to stroll out of the van into the diner.

The whole thing was staged and it looked it. You’ll hear audio sound bites where it looked staged, it felt uncomfortable. You will hear Drive-By Media types refer to it as such, and that’s what is somewhat unprecedented. That hasn’t happened much. Mostly they try to paper it over and cover-up for it. Now they’re openly expressing — and I don’t blame ’em. This is the woman they’ve rolled all the dice with, they’ve put everything in this campaign and they’ve had years to plan this event, and they can’t even make it look real?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Barry in Le Claire, Iowa. You are the mayor pro tem, Mr. Snerdley tells me, of Le Claire, Iowa, and you were at the Hillary event; is that right?

CALLER: I was. Thanks for talking to me, Rush. It’s an honor.

RUSH: I’m glad you called. It’s great to have you here.

CALLER: Hey, I just want to tell you that eight years ago I was a huge supporter of Hillary. I started listening to you because you were the only one that told the truth about Obama. I switched parties and have been voting Republican ever since.

RUSH: No kidding, since 2008?

CALLER: Yep. Yep.

RUSH: Oh, wow. Well, I thank you very much.

CALLER: Hey, thank you. I also want to let you know that I bought all three of your audio books and I donated them to our public library.

RUSH: Wow. You’re a great guy! I really appreciate that.

CALLER: No problem.

RUSH: So you were at this Hillary event?

CALLER: Yeah, at the Jones Street Java house in Le Claire, Iowa. I got to meet her, actually. The first time I met her was in ’08 because I was a supporter of her then. She was like a robot that time. This time she was very talkative, very upbeat and she was like a totally different person.

RUSH: So she came off better this time than the previous time you saw her?

CALLER: Yeah. I think they worked with her quite a bit from the last eight years.

RUSH: Okay, now, this event, what was the name of the place where you were?

CALLER: It was the Jones Street Java house.

RUSH: Jones Street Java. And the event I was just talking about, that’s where it was?

CALLER: Yes, in Le Claire, Iowa, hometown of the American Pickers, History Channel.

RUSH: Okay. So that’s where they had the staged Democrat campaign consultant running around and vetting people to come in and look like real ordinary Americans, the whole thing, that’s the place?

CALLER: Yeah. They actually called the owners of the coffee shop, like the night before about five o’clock, and told ’em she was coming to town.

RUSH: You know, I can understand that. I can understand calling the place and telling the people that run it, “By the way, tomorrow the Democrat presidential candidate’s gonna be coming in.” At least get them ready, but why can’t the rest of it be real? (interruption) No, no, it’s a serious question. She’s running for president. She’s the smartest woman in the world. All of this prepub, what in the world is there to fear? Why do you have to stage it? Why do you have to go out and get pretend real people, stage it?

I know the answer. They don’t trust her. But that’s my whole point. Somebody running for president ought to be able to stop in anywhere and talk to people, ought to be able to answer any question they got. I don’t care if it’s critical, I don’t care if it’s filled with praise, I don’t care if it’s hecklers, somebody running for president ought to be able to deal with this. And they don’t even want to chance her in a diner or a coffee shop? They have to stage that? I just find it incredible. I do.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here’s Kevin in Tiffin, Ohio, as we head back to the phones. I’m glad you called, sir, and welcome to our program.

CALLER: Thanks, Rush. Hey, I just wondering why there is no mention of the security issues around this visit to Chipotle.

RUSH: What were the security issues at Chipotle?

CALLER: Well, not that there was any specifically, but this is a former first lady, I mean, who knows what could have happened in there. I mean, she just had her and another lady, right?

RUSH: Well, was there security there or not? See, I don’t even know that.

CALLER: That’s my question. There probably wasn’t, and that’s kind of frightening because who knows, like, there could have a terrorist in there or whatever.

RUSH: Well, no, they vetted this place the night before. That’s the thing. They wanted to portray Mrs. Clinton as a fearless — that’s why Bill’s not around, by the way. You ever wonder where Bill is?

CALLER: No, good point.

RUSH: Where’s Bill? I mean, here’s her announce week, and Bill isn’t there? She’s talking to waitresses, that’s one reason. But Bill’s not there so there’s a reason for that, too. I think the reason that Bill isn’t there could be any number of things. They could have polling data. They could have Google data that people don’t like Bill and Hillary together. It could well be that Hillary supporters are not crazy when Bill is there ’cause many of them are feminazis and they don’t like him coming along stealing the limelight. It could be that he’s sick. Not sick. Not up to it.

It could be that it’s just obvious he overshadows and takes over and becomes the focal point, and they can’t afford that. (interruption) Well, yeah, we know that. We know he’s got dates lined up, but he could easily schedule a date on the same day and shows up for a half hour at the diner. The point is he’s not there. He’s nowhere in sight. Out of sight, out of mind.

Now, there is security all over traveling. They’re in front of and behind and probably in the van. But the reason there’s no security in the places is because they’re all vetted. The security goes in there well in advance of Mrs. Clinton’s arrival. They take a look at the place and all that. Make no mistake, they’re around. But as part of her desire to create this vision, picture, average, ordinary, everyday housewife running for president, walking into a diner, the average, ordinary American does not walk in with Secret Service protection or bodyguards. All part of the show. Kevin, I appreciate the call.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Grab sound bite number five. Now, this guy John Dickerson that CBS just hired to replace Bob Schieffer, this guy, he’s got roots to the media. You remember Nancy Dickerson, NBC infobabe way, way back when she might have been the only one. Well, Barbara Walters was always there, but she was one of the first. Then Jessica Savitch came along, but Nancy Dickerson, she had a baby, and John was the baby, and big, wealthy family. They just go way, way back, huge mansion this guy grew up in, which is no big deal to me, but they try to portray themselves as average, ordinary, everyday people, and they’re not.

Anyway, this is the guy that used to write for Slate, I think still does, and he told Obama in an advice column: you go out, you pulverize these Republicans. You have to destroy the Republican Party. That is your mission.

This is the guy CBS just hired to take over for Bob Schieffer at Face the Nation. Anyway, this guy, John Dickerson, he’s on CBS This Morning today, he’s their political director, and the cohost, Vinita Nair said, “You were with Hillary in Iowa, John, and of course one of the big questions is, ‘How are voters responding to her?’ What was really her message, and how did voters receive it?'”

DICKERSON: It was sort of like an arranged marriage, where the new couple goes down for their first meeting and the entire village comes to watch. So she had some interactions with voters, but there was this gargantuan press throng around her.

RUSH: This is exactly what I was talking about earlier when I told you the Drive-Bys are not buying this. It looked like an arranged marriage. It’s actually a good way to describe this. You had to be there, people were picked and chosen and they had to go, they had to be there. It was not spontaneous, none of it was. But arranged marriage, you use that term with Mrs. Clinton in earshot, and you are taking a big risk.
