RUSH: Bobby, Boca Raton, great to have you on the program.
CALLER: Greetings from south Florida, Rush.
RUSH: Thank you very much.
CALLER: Thanks for taking my call.
RUSH: You bet.
CALLER: So I heard you say that President Trump wasn’t elected to save Obamacare and that it was Hillary Clinton who ran under that position. And then you said that Obamacare was designed to fail, and I was wondering if you could explain that to me.
RUSH: Yeah. Obamacare was established by Barack Obama and the Democrat Party to eventually fail in its mission of insuring everybody affordably. The purpose of the failure was to then push the nation to single payer —
CALLER: Ah.
RUSH: — run entirely by government. Obamacare, as structured, could not succeed. It financially cannot succeed as it is structured. Obama, in a 2007 speech to the Service Employees International Union, told them that he agreed with them, that we need to get single payer, but he said the American people won’t accept it overnight. (paraphrasing) “It may take 10 to 15 years to get there. We have to condition ’em along the way.”
Well, that’s what Obamacare was. Obamacare was pitched as an effort to insure everybody and cheaply and affordably, but it couldn’t. Evidence is, look at all the waivers Obama had to give in order to get the insurance companies to play along. He exempted some of his close corporate buddies from having to meet all of the requirements cause it would bust their bank. But not everybody was exempted or waived, and so it’s now imploding.
CALLER: Right.
RUSH: And what you’re hearing people say, if something’s not done it’s gonna fully Implode. The purpose of it was to fully implode or get close to it so that the American people would clamor for a solution and would go single payer. Obama didn’t believe the American people were ready for full-fledged socialism forced on them, but he thought they would demand it after a number of years of trying our hardest and working our hardest with Obamacare. They blame the Republicans for some of the failure and then say there is a fix for this, if we just, you know, put everybody on Medicare, we’ve got it. And that’s what the ultimate aim was.
CALLER: And do you think they’ll still be able to accomplish that, despite the fact that President Trump is in office?
RUSH: If Hillary were in office, we would be very, very close to it right now.
CALLER: Right. Right.
RUSH: I think the problem, of course, for the first six months, Republicans did not want to help Trump succeed.
CALLER: Right.
RUSH: So the repeal of Obamacare bills went essentially nowhere, but I think Trump remains the lone object to preventing Obamacare deteriorating to single payer. As long as Trump’s there, a majority of the American people don’t want that, by the way, either. It’s close, though, depending on the polls you look at. It needs to be fixed with traditional market forces and principles employed so that there is common economic sense in the health care business.
Even if it went single payer, you would still find out that they would still have to ration it and that the elderly would probably not get care, would not get treatment, because even with single payer, I mean, we’re $20 trillion in debt as it is! That’s what I mean. I’m glad you called and asked the question.
